Our infamous boycott of a match against you at McDiarmid was partially led by the pricing, FWIW.

Yeah, that’s fair. Though was that not a cup game where both sets of fans were getting charged the same as each other?

Our club coach for the Ayr away game got a motorcycle police escort all the way from the Park Hotel. Totally unnecessary and I’m sure we would’ve paid for that (maybe we asked for it who knows?).

Overall I feel like there have always been too many police and stewards at games for about 20 years however I doubt any club could try to cut back now due to the increase in trouble seen at various grounds over the last couple of years.

Airdrie is apparently a police-free stadium.  Is that right and, if so, does that make other clubs policing costs optional?

Yeah, that's the same as the league though. You can't charge home and away fans different prices for the same view.

It's why Hearts always say the bottom tier is "closed for maintenance" when smaller teams visit Tynecastle, so they can charge the higher price.

I think there’s to be a small amount of balance added to those saying any price increase has been led or is the fault of OF fans.

While I understand the argument of our away allocations being usually sold out means there can be an inference that we are happy with the ticket prices charged, on the flip side, many clubs have been charging OF fans more than the majority of other supporters to attend matches for years. I don’t think I’ve ever heard for there to be a cap on those prices.

No doubt that that ticket prices are too high but with the OF matches all clubs can point out there are higher police costs, and you fuckers don't help yourselves.

The difference is that a Dundee Derby will mean little or no extra policing charges other than the fact that they will have enough on show for a sold out stadium as there will be no trouble.

The extra costs can't be justified by either club that way. It really is profiteering.

Yeah, but with it being a cup match I’m presuming it wasn’t included in the season ticket price for St Johnstone fans is what I was getting at.

Regardless, really, I support any kind of protest against the rising cost of football. And I also agree with the earlier comment that there needs to be a more concerted effort from Rangers and Celtic fans to try and join any such campaign to have any chance of forcing change.

The SFA/SPFL know they can charge what they like when the OF get to Cup Finals/semifinals and they will have fans moan online about the price but still more than likely sell out their allocation.
Having charged the higher prices and got away with it the authorities are highly unlikely to reduce the price for future games regardless of who is playing. I reluctantly paid £49 for the league cup final last season but would seriously consider whether it’s worth it if the price is the same or more for a subsequent one.

This pricing increases that we are seeing is mirroring what we have seen with top tier music and comedy gigs.

At least currently at Scottish fitba games I don’t have to watch the match through a sea of mobile phones…..

Sadly I’m sure it’s only a matter of time with all these YouTubes, Facepalm and Instacocks.

I’d argue the goings on at Ibrox recently have been more akin to a comedy gig anyway so I suppose price increases for me are inevitable if I’m getting a 2 in 1 offering.

Is it really? It's the price of 5 pints in a city centre bar.

At least there's a decent chance you'll enjoy the 5 pints.

I have paid ridiculous prices for sporting events which are a lot more than I'd pay for Scottish football.   Tourist leagues can charge what they like and sell the seats.  I think season tickets are generally pretty good value but tbh I'd like to see a cap at £25 max for away games for all teams.

Probably about £25. With the bus into Dingwall, food and pints it's no cheap to see County and I've not gone back regularly even with Malky gone.

A tenner for Clach means at least I'll see some goals.

From a Hearts point of view, I think season tickets are fair enough at the moment. You can have a decent seat for about £20 a game, and an adult can watch Hearts for £17 a game. That's decent.

Away games I'm not particularly price sensitive as an away day tends to be a whole day out with mates. There'll be drinks, lunch, etc. So, whether Killie are charging me £25 or £30 for the ticket doesn't really feel like that big a deal. It's an extra pint.

I'm not sure there's a single figure that would make me say no to going to a game. It would more be if the cost of the whole day out became unjustifiable. The game is just one bit of it.

People make choices in different areas. I'll spend on the fitba, but I've completely given up going to gigs as I think they're now not worth the cost.

I'm in a similar boat to most, here; £25 is my absolute maximum for going to a game. Fir Park is £24 for the Sailor Hunter stand right now for PATG where I watch from when I can go. A season ticket in there is £395 for 19 games; so you're saving about £60 if you buy a ST. If you miss 3 games, you're basically paying the same as a regular punter who goes when they can.

Not really sure that's as big an incentive as it should be, given that there's a fairly decent chance people won't make every game.

Tickets are to expensive in top flight but not sure what I level I would not pay. I no longer go to games at Ibrox and Parkhead and pricing is part of that but not the sole reason. Hearts and Hibs got close to me not paying what they were asking but as I have zero travelling costs to either I went to both last season. I would have gone if I had to pay for a train on top.

In terms of season ticket my limit was breached long ago, handing over hundreds of pounds in one go for something I don't actually need to hand over hundreds of pounds in one go to actually go and see doesn't really work or make sense to me.  We have introduced a pay up scheme but I think its a pretty short time frame.

For a walk up I do think £20 is plenty and since we have gone past that I have attended less regularly.  Its obviously not just the ticket price where my limit comes in,  im looking at the cost of getting there which for me is train so the prices regularly go up there as well so something closer to me going up to £26 like Hamilton is more appealing when skint than something a little further away like Raith Rovers at £22.

Away fans are treated like shite as well which plays a part, I cant for the life of me remember who it was but I do remember not going to a game because we were getting moved to a different area of a ground and being charged more for being in there than the 1st visit of the season - this was pre-covid and sounds like a Dundee United style tactic but cant be certain.
