I was just thinking what a strange coincidence this is - I saw that game on TV but the way the Croatia fans respected the minute's silence for Dewar before the game, when they'd probably never heard of him, was awesome.

Gutted by this. The best politician Scotland has seen in my lifetime. 

Shame he somewhat sullied his reputation over the last 10 year or so but up until the referendum he was absolutely fantastic.

I did laugh at someone saying this will ruin Alba.

They were an utter non-entity because Salmond was a complete busted flush. I would imagine this will make no difference but, if anything, I’d say they have more chance of success now he’s gone.

Incredible career, hugely significant for the country. 

I think his ego saw him put personal vendettas ahead of the mission in recent years. And obviously big questions about his behaviour privately. 

RIP though. A sad age.

Salmond was a political giant and sharp as a tack in debates.
