Half A Person
Why did they form a limited company to handle the donated cash and not a charity? They CAN'T register as a charity because in England and Wales, registered charities are required to show that they benefit the public. Because the search for Madeleine is concentrated on only one child, it has to be set up like this although this may change in the future if and when the fund is used to help other missing children.
Reynard
How do we know they arent bullshitting everyone? Well we will know if they are bullshitting if they spend the money on their defence team.
Guest albanytrader
just wondering about the car stuation, surely the police would have checked every person who hired the car, on and after the date maddie went missing not just the parents rental period, and the people who worked for the hire firms movements, after she went missing, just a thought, did the mammys boy who was under suspicion hire a car?
Musketeer Gripweed
The car thing really puzzles me. Why did Clouseau & Co (Inc.) feel the need to search the car that was hired 25 days after Madeleine's disappearance in the first place? Did they have a tip off or were they just acting on a hunch? There is a lot of information still to out come here. In the meantime, let's speculate like f**k. Philomena ate her.

I think i saw somewhere that they were taking the dogs to search the apartment or something, and the dogs went mental as they passed the car.
Musketeer Gripweed
Assuming that is true, it was a complete stroke of luck then. I just don't believe a word that these cops say though. They seem to be letting the media give them all their leads. f**k ever going to Portugal, just in case.

Which leads to officers selling info to the press.

Adam_Wee
So the police are corrupt as well as being pish? Didn't you realise that it was the Old Bill that took Maddie all along? Hoping to exchange her for the Maddie fund. There was no interviews under caution at all, just stiff negotiations!
Ziggy
So the police are corrupt as well as being pish? I heard a report mention that they sell info to press. I suppose its a result of them not being allowed to do press conferences and shit. With the press looking for stories money is bound to change hands. Must be easy to sell dud info as well though.
bluetooner
Any leaks, stories, inacuracies and half truths eminating in this sad case are coming, through the British media, directly from the McCann's and their friends/family. But is that not due to the fact that officially they are not allowed to talk to the press? Which leads to officers selling info to the press. So is it the McCanns or the portuguese police leaking the stories? (that don't add up to the police having a solid case, imo)

I doubt Police are saying the same as Philomena.

SO the police are releasing info then....... all of which doesn't add up.
Musketeer Gripweed
But it was a member of the British press that tipped the pish plods about Murat was it not? So the main suspects are suspects because, they looked shifty in front of the British press pack or the polis dugs went for a pish in the wrong place. So, what else are the polis doing?

So, what else are the polis doing? 1) Apparently wanting to read Kates Diary. I think they just heard she was a swinger, so is hoping it reads like a porn book. 2) Digging around under newly laid concrete, which was laid before the McCanns hired the car - yet Maddys DNA and Hair etc was found in the hire car. 3) Have put together a really strong case and getting ready to convict Kate McCann (with evidence we surely have not heard) (is there anything factually wrong with that?) Reynard
Both can be feeding media different stories. I doubt Police are saying the same as Philomena. It really doesn`t matter who is saying what. They have to either charge their suspects or shut up. The police over there take money for lots of different things. I made them go away with a handful of money when they did me for speeding years ago. There has been so much pish and wind now that nobody seems to have a clue what is happening. Too much rumour and not enough fact so far.
Ziggy
SO the police are releasing info then....... all of which doesn't add up. But as I said. If I was police with no info I'd make some up and sell it to a storey hungry reporter. Hard for us to know whats legit and whats made up. Its maybe an arguement for letting police do press conferences etc. But I'm sure the Portugues will say their system has advantages as well.

I can't remember such a high profile case where so much of the reporting seems so contradictory or just plain mental.
Musketeer Gripweed
Correct. I can't remember such a high profile case where so much of the reporting seems so contradictory or just plain mental. To be fair, had the internet and other technology been around at the time of the Yorkshire Ripper's reign of terror, I reckon he would have been caught far sooner. It's very rare these days to hve a real mystery like this. That isn't a bad thing. The world is a far safer place these days let's not forget. I think that is what this case even weirder.
