die hard doonhamer
Watched some of the women's test between England and India yesterday. India's 17 year old opener, Shafali Verma, looks like an unbelievable talent (although as I type I see she's just got out). 96 and 63 on debut, and she played some lovely lovely shots through all parts of the off side.
Arthur Orton
Cricket shooting itself in the foot yet again as the players come off for bad light despite the fucking floodlights being on.

Nice way to treat the English women as they play their first home test in nearly two years.

It had only been used for something like 35 overs, so that was much ado about nothing really. She hit 3 6s across her 2 innings, which already makes her the leading 6 hitter in the history of women's test match cricket. No one else has more than 2 in their career.
peasy23
More overnight rain at Southampton means it looks like another delayed start. Should have played it at Titwood imo.
Moomintroll
Big wicket for the Kiwis there, the next half hour will be pivotal.
Moomintroll
The Kiwis looking good now, hopefully get a batting masterclass from Ross Taylor & KW while the pitch does nowt for Jadeja & Ashwin, although I think Ishant Sharna & Mo Shami will be very dangerous on a seaming & swinging track like this.
Moomintroll
5-31 from Kyle Jamieson off 22 overs, going to be a struggle now for India if the Kiwis get a decent total as Ashwin & Jadeja will not have the scoreboard pressure on a day 5 pitch.
peasy23
Cautious but steady start by the Kiwis, 36-0 from 21 overs. We had the shortest rain delay ever earlier, lasted all of two minutes, the batsmen went off but the Indians didn't bother leaving the field.

peasy23
More rain and still no prospect of any play at Southampton.
peasy23
It's been a long slog for the Kiwis but they are now just 8 behind India with 3 wickets in hand.Williamson's strike rate this morning was the lowest of any test batsman who has faced 40+ balls in a session for over 10 years.
peasy23
NZ all out for 249 for a lead of 32. The difference was really down to what the respective tails managed to add, with India scoring 12 for their last 3 wickets while the Kiwis got 57.
Fuctifano
They should have a bowl out to decide the trophy just to see Kohli's head go into orbit if India lose. The WTC is a noble idea but needs a bit of refinement.
peasy23
India in trouble, lost wickets steadily today but Pant was posing some problems for the Kiwis, he's just skyed one from Boult that Nicholls did well to get across from gully to catch. 7 down with a lead of 124 and only the bowlers left.
peasy23
8 down, Ashwin edges to Taylor at slip.
peasy23
India all out for 170, leading by 138. Plenty of overs left for New Zealand to win this.
peasy23
New Zealand 19-0 at tea needing another 120 to win.Still 43 overs left in the day and with the weather a lot brighter than it has been then time shouldn't be a problem.
peasy23
Fair play to India, they are putting huge pressure on the Kiwis, that's 21 dot balls in a row. 46-2 from 22 overs, Williamson and Taylor at the crease.
