Arthur Orton
England finish 258-7 avoiding the follow on. YJB makes a ton, Wood chips in with some good hitting and Stokes makes 60. Buttler fails again, as do the wretched openers. Root and Malan fail and Olly Pope drops the drinks, breaks a window and loses the teams winning lottery ticket.
peasy23
One stat I didn’t expect to wake up to, Mark Wood is the first player ever to hit Pat Cummins for three 6s in a test match innings.
Fuctifano
At last, a bit of fight, though I'd still put money on them losing if there's not another 1.5-2 sessions lost to rain.
Benjamin_Nevis
It was quite surprising to get up this morning and not discover Australia batting again. However you'd expect the tail mopped up early doors tomorrow, and some aggressive batting from the home side to get a lead of about 350-400. England to heroically lose by about 135 runs imo. Given the forecast though, a few rain interruptions look likely and therefore a probable draw.
peasy23
Since watching Alex Hartley on comms on the Hundred in the summer, I've known she was a dirty mare. That came from a bit where she was eating a 99 cone on the boundary, and was blushing furiously when she was asked if she was a licker or a biter. She's been on top form on TMS through the night.

cameron2000
Looks like England have an outside chance of sneaking a draw here
peasy23
Still can't believe the bail stayed on here, but fair play to Stokes for pishing himself when he watched it on the screen.

The craziest thing is that the umpire gave it out. On what basis, I’ve no idea, because Stokes was miles away from the ball.
die hard doonhamer
Pope to keep wicket for England in Australia’s second innings, with Buttler having taken a blow to the hand while keeping in the first innings, and Bairstow took one on the thumb batting yesterday. Sam Billing has also been brought in to the squad as cover for the final test, having just finished his stint in the BBL.

Great, 8 dropped catches and 5 failed stumpings with 100 extras as Olly takes his vastly overrated batting skills into his role with gloves. Gimp.
Swarley
Sydney weather update - was a big storm last night about midnight. Fairly hot and humid already at 10am. High chance of heavy showers this afternoon.
peasy23
Leach out top edging a sweep shot, Bairstow tickles one to the keeper off Boland. England still well behind and can't see Anderson and Broad hanging about for long.
peasy23
And Broad skies one which is taken by Carey. All out for 294.
Ro Sham Bo
England finish the day needing 358 on the last day to win. The good news is they have already reached 30-0 which feels like their highest opening wicket partnership for a generation.
Benjamin_Nevis
Looks like England will finally stop the rot and scrape a draw. Surely not even they can f**k up from this position in a single day? That said, surely Lyon will be looking forward to this - if Leach can take 4 wickets, he should be able to cause some havoc.

I’d never trust this England side to be able to see off a full days batting. All out by tea is my generous expectation.
peasy23
Aussies keeping Boland in, and Travis Head, having tested positive for Covid is replaced by Usman Khawaja. Presumably Australia, having won the Ashes again are simply taking the piss now. Khawaja will almost certainly be man of the match now after hitting two centuries. A very unlikely turn of events.
