peasy23
Rumours are that Borthwick, Ballance and Rankin will start for England with Bairstow retaining his place. Interesting if true.... As I posted above Monty is struggling so Borthwick isn't a surprise. Who's rumoured to be dropping out for the other two? I'd guess Anderson for Rankin?

AberdeenBud
As I posted above Monty is struggling so Borthwick isn't a surprise. Who's rumoured to be dropping out for the other two? I'd guess Anderson for Rankin? Bresnan, I'd go for. And yes Carberry out with Root moving again. England all over the place, no way that's an 11 to win a test match.
peasy23
Just had a look around and the rumours seem to point to it being something like: Cook, Root, Bell, KP, Ballance, Stokes, Bairstow, Borthwick, Broad, Anderson & Rankin? Ouch. Could be another very sore one for England IMO.
Bearwithme
Various rumours say the dropped players are Bresnan, Monty and Carberry (though the Telegraph says Root). Cricinfo says Monty didn't look injured at all in practice....

peasy23
Team still to be confirmed, but Borthwick, Rankin and Ballance have all been handed caps so will start. Borthwick batted at 3 for Durham, will likely be number 8 for England. Edit: looks like it's Root who has been left out and Carberry stays in. Shame for Root as although he hasn't had a great series he was promoted into a position he shouldn't have been anywhere near in the first place IMO. peasy23
Root out and Carberry stays, which doesn't really fit in with bringing in 3 new players and looking to the future! Australia unchanged, first time ever they will have used just 11 players in a 5 match series. England win the toss and will have a bowl.
AberdeenBud
Bowling after winning? Sure sign of a skip not confident in the batsmen.

AberdeenBud
Monty is finished under Cook and Flower imo. The writing was on the wall last Test when even Root was bowled before him. Shame when you consider how well he bowled in tandem with Swann in India.

Fuctifano
Death, taxes, and Shane Watson lbw. Decent first session for England but they'll no doubt be put to the sword by Haddin and Johnson again.
AberdeenBud
First LBW off the series for England and its that man Shane Watson. 94-4 at lunch. Did know that, unbelievable stat. Can't believe Watto hasn't been trapped this series, nevermind no-one.
jaggyness
Any green that was in the pitch has gone, just wait for Johnson to have some fun with the exaggerated bounce that's there as he chucks it down at 90mph plus
