die hard doonhamer
England win the toss and, quelle suprise, bat first. Presumably the record for day/night tests viz-a-vis batting first is the same as for regular tests? It's 3-1 in favour of teams batting first in the 4 played so far

Hmm. Too small a sample size.
Savage Henry
Stoneman bowled for 8. Who next?
die hard doonhamer
Cook currently has 22 runs from only 16 balls. Rapid scoring by his standards.
Savage Henry
This could be a very long inning for the West Indies. Unless the lights make a radical difference, England are smacking boundaries all over the place.
peasy23
Pretty much as predicted by Paul Collingwood on the preview show on 5Live the other night, ball will do a bit for the first 10-12 overs then do nothing after that.
peasy23
Cook gets his 100, partnership with Root well over 200 now.
NathanQP
Is the whole series day night or just this test match?

Dull as dishwater so far, how much of that is down to the pink ball and how much is due to the Windies bowlers being pish is anyone's guess.
Savage Henry
Just this one. Dull as dishwater so far, how much of that is down to the pink ball and how much is due to the Windies bowlers being pish is anyone's guess. The pitch was doing plenty early on. This has all the makings of an innings victory.
topcat(The most tip top)
It's 3-1 in favour of teams batting first in the 4 played so far And 4-0 in favour of the home side
Bobby Skidmarks
Its a pity the West Indies have dwindled from one of the best teams in the world to on a par with the likes of Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

It's been a sad decline from the days when they had the most feared bowling attack in the world to where they are now. Too many of their players chasing T20 money and the Test team has suffered badly because of it.

To go from malcolm marshall Joel garner,Michael holding curtly Ambrose etc to this lot of trundlers is grim. Never mind losing gordon greenidge viv richards etc etc. They were the cricket equivalent of 1970 brazil team.....now they are Cowdenbeath
Savage Henry
This West Indies - or 'Windies' as they wish to be called - are just dreadful in the field. Almost like that Pakistan team that were on the take, only these guys are just incompetent. Edited August 18, 2017 by Savage Henry
die hard doonhamer
With stokes about to come in, and Bairstow and Ali to follow, England should be looking at having 600 up by tea, weather permitting.

Stokes didn't last long, 501-5 now with Cook edging towards 250. Think the score doesn't really matter tbh, think it's more important for England to keep batting so they can declare at the right time, and give themselves the last hour or so under the lights with the new ball. It moved around a bit for the Windies bowlers last night so I'm sure Anderson and Broad will be desperate to get a chance to bowl in the same conditions.
peasy23
And just as I hit send Bairstow goes, 505-6.
die hard doonhamer
And Ali gone as well! That prediction went well [emoji23] Chance for Cook to carry his bat now

Still think they will win comfortably though.
