Sir Tarmo Kink
2 early wickets for Pat Cummins, Ross Taylor c Burns 4 then next ball Henry Nicholls lbw 0. NZ now 4/51 only 416 behind.Watling gone aswell now. Latham already in bat time mode hoping to stretch this innings out with de Grandhomme to an eventual draw even when they are inevitably made to follow on.
Eednud
Oh what a pity Smith gone for 7 and Burns, Warner & Labuschcagne also out the NZ fight back is on. Just a pity it’s going to be an impossible chase.
peasy23
Markram and Elgar seem to have forgotten how to bat. Faf has been below-par too along with the newbie Hamza which has made a very shakey top 4 for SA. It’s all lying on van der Dussen and de Kock now, with a bit of help from Pretorius and the tail they can maybe get a 300+ lead given the time they have. England will need to get vd Dussen and de Kock early if they have any chance. I don’t want to see Bairstow in the whites this winter again. Markram out for the rest of the series as the finger injury he sustained yesterday requires surgery.
peasy23
Jos Buttler the latest in the England camp to be struck down with the flu like illness that has been doing the rounds. He felt unwell on arriving at the ground and his condition will be monitored throughout the day. Bairstow will keep wicket instead.
peasy23
As often happens with England when things aren't going well, the body language and onfield energy is really poor. They are just treading water just now with the match slipping away. Interesting that for once the commentary team are being quite critical of Root, Broad and Anderson in regards to tactics and field placings. As they say, England seem to have no patience and keep going for quirky field settings. Contrast that with SA yesterday who just bowled at the top of off stump all day and got their rewards with lots of catches behind the stumps. Root now also feeling unwell. Lbw review coming up...
peasy23
And van der Dussen survives on umpire's call with the ball just clipping leg stump.
peasy23
You do have to wonder how many of the England team are fully fit. Broad was seemingly bed bound for 6 days, and others that are playing have been ill to varying degrees.
peasy23
50 for van der Dussen, lead by 249 and 100 partnership with Nortje not far away.
peasy23
Van der Dussen goes lbw for 51, 153-5, lead by 256.

peasy23
De Kock comes in and takes two sixes off Archer almost immediately [emoji23]He has treated him with utter contempt, hitting 30 from 17 balls. Lead is 300 at lunch, with 3 wickets in hand.

peasy23
About time someone had a word with ArcherThere was what can only be described as a frank exchange of views involving Root, Stokes and Broad in the huddle after one of the wickets was taken. None of the bowlers have performed well today, not just Archer that needs taken to task.

Swearing at De Kock after being smashed for two sixes only to continue to be smashed. Some front for a guy whose best Test achievement to date it introducing us all to Labuschagne.

Some front for a guy whose best Test achievement to date it introducing us all to Labuschagne.Definitely something far wrong with the way he is being used. As mentioned at lunch, he is bowling to the field that has been set for him, so somebody has decided that they want him to bowl endless short stuff. Whether that was him, the captain or the coach, it's a monumental blunder. Also worth nothing that for all he has bowled a lot of shite and has been expensive, he has managed to take 4 wickets.
peasy23
I know a few folk did the team of the decade on the BBC sport website, this was the XI that were the most popular choices.
die hard doonhamer
The pitch is showing now that there is enough there for the bowlers on a length. England wasted the newer ball bowling short stuff. SA will bowl it on a length and England will be out for under 200 again.

Root looked like absolute shit the last time they showed him.

I do think Silverwood is going to get a lot of deserved criticism for this performance.
peasy23
Rabada just swatted Curran into the stands for 6, a stunning shot. Curran snags Philander a couple of balls later, decent catch by Bairstow. England need 376 to win, and with dark skies at Centurion it looks tailor made for Rabada and Philander to cause havoc here.
