Sir Tarmo Kink
375 lead, with the middle to lower order once again saving SA. Van der Dussen top scoring with 51, Philander making a handy 46 and an impressive 40 from Nortje. De Kock, Rabada, Maharaj all making vital runs.
Sir Tarmo Kink
Second on the field as a sub for the injured Markram. If SA do what they did in India when Markram got injured, they’ll promote De Kock up to open with a wicketkeeper (Second) coming in at 7. However with the possible return of Bavuma we might see something different. Also Pieter Malan waiting in the sidelines for a debut. Edit - Burns gone, reviews it though
Sir Tarmo Kink
72/0 for England who are doing well despite a nervy start.
Sir Tarmo Kink
Sibley out for 29, Maharaj with a c&b. Sibley’s top score so far. I know it would be nice to have an opener averaging 40 but if Sibley can do what he did today most games, occupying the crease for a long time and help build a near-100 partnership then he’ll do for now.
pandarilla
109/1 now, and a massive twenty minutes or so left.Fucking raging that test match special doesn't have the contract for this. I came get talk sport 2 through my telly - and the adverts are annoying anyway.

peasy23
England 121-1 at the close, great effort from the top order for once. Still need 255 to win though, so still a lot of cricket left to be played in the match.

peasy23
Philander off to Somerset after the series is done. Was certainly the rumour last weekend. They are also saying that Smith and Boucher have virtually begged Dwaine Pretorius not to sign a Kolpak deal in England, and it seems he will stay in South Africa.

Given it’s likely that Pretorious will make way for the returning Bavuma in the next Test so that SA meet their ‘transformational race targets’ that they failed to meet in the first Test, I wouldn’t blame him for going.
Sir Tarmo Kink
New Zealand 38/3 on Day 4 at Lunch. Pattinson melting through their top order taking 3 wickets (Latham, Williamson duck, Taylor) in just 2 overs.
peasy23
New Zealand 38/3 on Day 4 at Lunch. Pattinson melting through their top order taking 3 wickets (Latham, Williamson duck, Taylor) in just 2 overs. Australia won by 247 runs in the end, NZ batting a man short with Boult injured. Not that he would have made a big difference. Peter Siddle has announced his retirement from international cricket.
die hard doonhamer
1 wicket gone in the first hour with Burns out for 84. He'd down good judgement up to that point before hooking at one that got big on him from Nortje. Root in at 4 and is supposedly feeling better than yesterday.

die hard doonhamer
Couple of wickets gone since though. 222-5. It's not impossible, but need a disciplined partnership between Root and Buttler now.

die hard doonhamer
Nortje once again gets a wicket in the first over of a spell. Root goes for 48, 232-6, I think that's probably the game.
Sir Tarmo Kink
Curran gone for 9, Rabada strikes again. All rests on Buttler here to get the last 100 odd.
die hard doonhamer
Archer gone for 4 as well. Nortje has 3. 120 still needed.
