peasy23
England in doing well shocker, will be interesting to see how they manage to screw this up.They'll either let Philander and Rabada add about 100 runs tomorrow, or will just do their standard batting collapse.
die hard doonhamer
215/8 at the close and England have the chance to have a reasonable first innings lead. So important that they knock the last 2 over quickly tomorrow and post a decent target. England will lose 5-40 at some point so it's massively important that someone converts a start at some point in the innings.
Savage Henry
Some of that Stokes fielding is ridiculous.
Guest Moomintroll
Saffers all out for 223, England have a lead of 46 on a pitch that looks like it will be a minefield in the 4th Innings. Bring on the abject batting collapse.

Bring on the abject batting collapse. The two lads are hanging in ok so far. They're a bit all over the shop but they're still out there, tiring out the bowlers and using up the new ball.
pandarilla
27/0. If they can get to 40 that'll be job done. No-one expected better than that for the first wicket.
die hard doonhamer
Rabada gets Crawley, 28-1.

They are usually 40-3 so this represents progress, I have been a massive critic of Joe Denly but he does appear to be a steady, if unspectacular test cricketer. Hope he does a job in Sri Lanka as the 3rd spinner.
peasy23
England lead by 98 for the loss of 1 wicket at lunch. I would suspect they would have bitten your hand off if offered that this morning.
jaggyness
Surely a target of 280 plus on a wicket that looks like it will be misbehaving should be sufficient here?
peasy23
Not a lot happening at the moment, England going along at a snail's pace, and it's been a long time since the Saffers looked like taking a wicket.
peasy23
Jinxed it. Denly hooks Nortje to Pretorius. 2 down, but England still well on top.
Sir Tarmo Kink
Nortje gets Denly with a bit of a bouncer that Denly goes for and is caught by Pretorius.
Guest Moomintroll
Decent patient 50 from Sibley, starting to think they might not actually throw this away for once.
peasy23
Decent patient 50 from Sibley, starting to think they might not actually throw this away for once. If they do somehow manage to contrive not to win this test from here, they really should just pack up and come home.

Bookies have England at 1/6 at the moment.
jaggyness
Well done on whoever said jennings would be in for Sri Lanka. England camp saying he's most likely to especially if burns hasn't recovered
peasy23
Root out for 61, was a decent ball from Pretorious but was a sort of half hearted shot by Root that guided it to Faf at slip. They've stuck Bess in as nightwatchman.
peasy23
And Bess goes caught behind after a review, and that's it for the day. England 264 ahead with 4 wickets down.

Even if they just add 80 odd they'll have plenty. But the type of lower order batsmen might just go and rattle another 220.
