Distant Doonhamer
Tyrell Hatton is now up to number 5 on the OWGR.Robert MacIntyre slips a place to 52nd. Other Scots:Martin Laird 76thMarc Warren 162nd Calum Hill 197thScott Jamieson 215thRussell Knox 220thConnor Syme 235thRichie Ramsay 285thGrant Forrest 316thEwen Ferguson 383rdBig climbs up the board for Warren and Knox recently. Yes Laird and MacIntyre winning relatively recently and the improved form of others has been good to see. Knox will be gutted that his 18th hole triple cost him a really good finish yesterday. Also good to see him have the ability to poke fun at himself on social media for said finish pretty much straight after the event. Good on him for that. His 64 on Saturday was a fantastic round.

peasy23
Wee footnote to last night's PGA Tour win for Si Woo Kim, he is running out of time to carry out his 18 month stint of national service back in South Korea. He is 25 and is supposed to do it before he is 28, only ways he can get an exemption is to get a medal at the Olympics or a gold medal at the Asian games. He won the Players in 2017 and was talking about doing it "soon" back then.
peasy23
Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma has been named as the replacement host club for the 2022 PGA Championships. It will be the 5th time it has hosted the event, the last time was in 2007 when Tiger Woods won by 2 shots from Woody Austin.
Ro Sham Bo
The European Tour released this : https://www.europeantour.com/european-tour/news/articles/detail/angry-golfers/ And Hatton and Wallace put it into practice immediately: https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/golf/12196372/thumbs-up-from-angry-golfers
Wee-Bey
**Fantasy Golf Week 3** Tyrell 'The Hitman' Hatton An eventful fantasy golf week, with hunners of points dished out. Most going to backers of Tyrell Hatton, who landed a couple of 30ft bombs on playing partner Rory McIlroy to take the Abu Dhabi Championship, and move up to 5th in the world rankings. Meanwhile, Si Woo Kim picked up his 3rd PGA win and his second at a Pete Dye Stadium course. Poor Tony Finau failed to get over the line once more, the Hibs of pro golf. Which may mean he wins a major in dramatic fashion in a play off to end 114 tournaments of hurt. Who knows ? Much changed standings here, with some eye watering points being handed out. The totals could have been even higher, a couple of shots either way would have seen bonuses being applied. @lichtie23 @Distant Doonhamer and @die hard doonhamer who takes top spot, absolutely nailing it this week. @peasy23 the new back marker. Standings 199 (109) @die hard doonhamer 171 (147) @lichtie23 170 (142) @Distant Doonhamer 146 (34) @J_Stewart 141 (99) @Tartan Dave 123 (99) @Ro Sham Bo 92 (32) @Erih Shtrep 92 (18) @Honest_Man#1 90 (12) @Henderson to deliver ..... 76 (56) @alta-pete 64 (28) @peasy23 There's no letting up this week. Another high class field has assembled in the desert for the European Tour staple of The Dubai Desert Classic. We've lost Rory and JT this week, but are joined by Morikawa, Casey, Garcia, Willet and Stenson. A decent swap tbf. The Majlis course is once again the host, plenty doglegs and fast greens are the theme here. This of course, is the one with the views of the Dubai skyline. Lovely. The PGA continues it's west coast swing with a visit to La Jolla for the Farmers Insurance Open at both Torrey Pines North and South courses. The North is a short par 72 birdie fest, whilst the world famous South is a beast, over 7700 from the back (longest on tour) with an average fairway width of 23 yards (narrowest on tour) and site of Tiger's incredible 2008 US Open win on one leg. It's an architecturally uninteresting slog, which doesn't make the most of it's setting overlooking San Diego Bay imo. The Open returns here in June so, with the exception of DJ, JT, Bryson and the injured Woods, everyone who isn't in the Middle East is here to take a look at the changes that have been made in the last couple of years. Arguably the 'real' start of the PGA year, this is one of the jewels in the crown and has a list of illustrious winners. It's also a chance for me to use some Anchorman memes. Stay classy San Diego. peasy23
I remember the Americans having their "task force" after the Ryder Cup humping at Gleneagles, and one of the things they came up with was succession planning to use the President's Cup to blood captains and vice captains for the Ryder Cup. Bit surprised then to hear that Davis Love III has been named as the 2022 President's Cup skipper. Would have thought somebody like Mickelson or Zach Johnson would have made more sense.

peasy23
Sometimes the entry criteria for events are hard to fathom, like Marc Warren not being included this week after being 5th last weekend.

After a decent finish in the race to dubai last season I can't see why he wouldn't have gotten in the field. I'd seen his tweet about it the other day, some of the replies explain it but its baffling that he was 46th in the rankings last year but doesn't qualify for this.

peasy23
Patrick Reed really is a cheating c**t, and the PGA's indulgence of his previous indiscretions obviously make him think he is untouchable. Tonight he picked up his ball claiming it was embedded, without getting his playing partner to confirm it first. He called for the rules official after he had already picked up. Footage shows his ball bouncing so there is no way it was embedded.
J_Stewart
I see Patrick Reed is at it again. What a complete scrote that man is.
peasy23
Given what Reed has got up to when he must know the cameras are watching, I think this is very fair comment about times when he wasn't under such close scrutiny.
Distant Doonhamer
Reed also had a drop by the green which Rich Beem described as "pushing the envelope". To be fair to Reed his playing partner agreed it was a free drop. Re the "plugged" ball he'll get huge criticism but clearly doesn't give a shit about that. It's a real shame in many ways as he is a real talent and his short game is to die for.
