Seems strange releasing the team this early Especially as Scotland's team is up in the air. Finn Russell has just been officially ruled out after failing concussion protocol.
afca32
Dupont was always gonna play and is a big upgrade on what they've had at 9 so far. Ntamack another good pick but otherwise surprised so many have kept their places.
honestly united
Russell being out may be a huge loss. Or it may actually be to our advantage that we are forced to play a more forward oriented game. French backs look dangerous, their forwards less so.

Scotland don't have the quality in the pack to play a forwards game and the best disrupting players they have are all injured . The best Scotland can do is utilise their backs and use set pieces and flair in open play. That what Townsend did as a player, and what he wants his teams to do. Basteraux is a huge great bugger, but he's not very mobile for a centre. I'd have loved the match up of Russell and Jones against him. I don't fancy a Hastings/Horne/Grigg combo anywhere near as much. And of course, all our best backs are injured as well, and the replacements aren't quite yet up to standard. I fear a thrashing, and finishing the game with hookers at flanker, and scrum halves on the wing. Detournement
We can still put out a decent team. We beat France with Peter Horne playing the majority of the match at 10 a few years ago and he played very well on Saturday night. The French back 3 were a shambles against England but should be better with Ramos at 15. If we can get ahead early they will break under the pressure. My team Dell McInally Berghan Gray Gilchrist Bradbury Ritchie Strauss Laidlaw Horne Seymour Johnson Johnstone Maitland Kinghorn Bhatti Fagerson Brown Toolis Hardie Price Hastings Harris

John Lambies Doos
Pro 14 highlights[/url] That Welsh commentor is a joke, when Glasgow scores comes from Welsh errors but when Cardiff score it's spectacularly great play

Jones seriously off form.

Mark Connolly
Interesting to see Duncan Weir in there. Offers a different option if needed. Also pleased to see Dean and Johnstone included, even if they don't play. They've been superb for Edinburgh.

What I like about Duncan Weir is, whilst he's limited, he's a 'safe' 10. I.e. he doesn't attempt something mercurial and just provides a safe pair of hands. Finn, for all his majesty, can just about win you a game, but can just about cost you a game in equal measure lol.

Part from that he should just boot it over the French defence line and let our strike runners get scrappy trys

same_ol_g35
Reading online that Josh Straus has apparently lost his passport and it's unlikely a replacement can be in place in time for the trip to Paris! Surely to f**k not! They must be able to issue some emergency visa or something?
same_ol_g35
Passport situation dealt with Team as most folk had been tipping earlier in the thread. I'm not overjoyed by Horne at 10. But with Hastings out of form and Weir brought in late I kind of expected it. Edited February 21, 2019 by same_ol_g35
Mark Connolly
He played well last week. He also won't need to worry about goal kicking with Laidlaw there. Amazing we can still put out a strong team like that when you think of the injuries.

Detournement
I can't think of a time when Grigg has performed in a big game. The Pro14 games that he excels in don't bear much resemblance to Test matches. Other than that though it's a strong team and France are so disorganised that Grigg will probably manage one of his breaks it's just whether he'll be ok defensively.

He'd better be, because there's bugger all cover in the centres, and there's very little bulk there either.
