Haining bamming up the French prop cost them the Championship.

France have a 9-10 combination to see them through the next two World Cups and a conveyor belt of massive forwards who have been dominating at u20s the last 3 or 4 years. They are going to be competing for the title every year.

Arguably the 2006 championship was better we had a -3 points difference but finished 3rd

I'd disagree. In 2006 we beat England completely against run of play, they hammered us and but we kicked our points. We also beat Italy all kicks by 3 points. In fairness Lamont hit scene with solid French win. This championship we have arguably been the better team in all 5 games, plus we score tries now, we didn't really back then.. (2 great ones against France mind, halfway rolling maul)

Edit we have a great team now, we didn't back then. Much happier with us now. Decent Championship

I'd tend to agree but really it was just to put things in perspective

Seems stupid that the whole championship is decided by how much you can run up the score on italy. Not the first time in recent years it has been done on points difference.

Winner of the game between tied teams should be the first tie breaker imo.

Italy Georgia and four others in six nations b group with promotion and relegation

I had a wee look, and I think only 4 of the players who started yesterday started the first game of the world cup. Townsend seems to have learned his lessons from that.
Think you are right, only Hogg, Russell, Gray and Watson started that Ireland match.

Disagree, we need to aim to win 5. Slowly and surely we are gaining a bit more respect, but we still have the plucky and inconsistent tag.

Disagree
We need to aim to win all 5 with bonus points and without conceding a point

But I accept that might take a couple of years

One step at a time.

Next 6 nations we have Ireland,Wales and Italy at home, all very winnable, so we need to win in London or Paris to have a shout. It's possible

Hopefully next years match at Twickenham won't be a crazy a match as our last visit there was

A small thing, but something that really fucked me off yesterday was the commentators in all 3 games mentioned when there was a ruck close to the posts that the attack would be targeting the post protector.

That law got amended in May, and the PP is no longer an extension of the goal line.

Another win for a team in blue over a team in red in Llanelli as Embra grind it out over the Scarlets in utterly horrendous conditions.

Not long before the end, the Scarlets nearly scored off a big break after unbelievably obvious crossing in their own 22. Slightly disappointed they didn't, because Cockerill's post match interview would have been tremendous.

Im hoping we can build on the results this year and go from expecting to beat Italy and hoping for results against the other teams to expecting to win all our home games and hoping for away wins and then once we get there push on expecting to win all the games.

The issue we always have is that with 2 teams we create good young players like Hogg, Gray and Russell but they get to mid 20's and they go off to either England or France as we can afford to keep them, which then means we dont get to protect them as much and minimise game time. We've only had one season of Super 6 so wont comment on whether that is hte answer or just a waste of money. But 2 teams doesn't help in long term keep a good stream of players into the Scotland squad, its going well at the moment, but we have had many years where it hasn't.
