Genuine Hibs Fan
Just caught up with the try now, would a kick not have to be a deliberate and/or controlled action?
Left Back
When England run the ball they look dangerous. Neither of these teams run it enough

Where in the laws are you getting that from?

Doesn’t need to be a deliberate drop. Many times you see a player spill it and hack it forward before it hits the ground.
John Lambies Doos
Just dropped in - I take it Wales are getting away with murder again? Yes, both their trys were ridiculous decisions
Mark Connolly
Just now, GordonS said: Where in the laws are you getting that from? The definition of a kick in the laws is "An act made by intentionally hitting the ball with any part of the leg or foot, except the heel, from the toe to the knee, but not including the knee". He did not intentionally kick that, he dropped it onto his calf.

Aye but you need to be in possession to knock the ball on then kick it.

He did not intentionally kick that, he dropped it onto his calf. He obviously didn't mean to drop it but he flicked his leg at it, which was intentional. IMO it's the same as dropping it in front of yourself and hacking on, which has always been allowed. ETA actually, just saw it again and that's probably wrong. Except you've always been allowed to kick on when the ball was lost from your hands.
DeeTillEhDeh
That first try is a fucking joke. How the f**k is Farrell meant to have a word and then get the team back into position? It was jess than 2 fucking seconds. Utter nonsense.
GordonS
Fk me, having seen that whole first try incident it's even worse than I thought. The ref is so far out of order it's unbelievable. He's completely stitched England up.
DeeTillEhDeh
And a knock-on for the second.Just fucking awful refereeing again.

Find the law that says that. https://resources.world.rugby/worldrugby/document/2021/02/16/31af949d-cf47-4838-a790-b5e869b0b78d/World-Rugby-Laws-2021-EN-v3.pdf Nowhere in the rules does it say you are allowed to drop the ball forward to kick it. Left Back
Looking at the replay again I think its hit his upper leg first which would make it a knock on. A kick has to be below the knee

Mark Connolly
Apart from the two try decsions, which haven't had that much of an effect on the game... I've actually enjoyed the way he's reffed the breakdown. No fucking about, just pinging folk for not rolling way. It's a shame there has been serious controversy which allowed Johnson and Guscott the "he likes blowing his whistle" quips, because he's actually got that stuff right.
