The Telegraph had a great feature after the Lions about how he was directing the attacks and reading the SA defence. Guys like Lawes, Furlong and Itoje immediately started playing to his rhythm despite the fact they had never played together and it was against the Boks.

If he had a Test career behind a dominant pack he would be viewed completely differently.
