dogmc
Embra could be on wrong side of a real hiding here.
come on shire
Bitterly disappointing to lose at Scotstoun especially but Ulster are a class side. As long as defeats remain rare at home we must appreciate the fact that even Barcelona lose at the Nou Camp the odd time. Alan Solomons was full of praise for his team. I'm stumped. Apart from John Hardie (the traditional front row weren't playing) they were given a real hiding.

The lads let themselves down on this one.We should not be getting beat by this shite at home
dogmc
Disagree. We were second best from start to finish. The lads let themselves down on this one. We should not be getting beat by this shite at home It was a weakened pack to start with and after the injuries they were down to teenagers. That and the fact ulster are a decent side plus some dubious 2nd half refereeing made it virtually impossible to win. Cant agree that the players let themselves down when there were so many academy players on the park. Eta as for Edinburgh.....think solomans has taken them as far as he can. They should have been higher up the table last season and so far this season they look well off the pace despite actually having a decent squad.
come on shire
Refs for first 2 Euro games confirmed. Home to Tigers will be Mathieu Raynal. Then away to Munster will be Jerome Garces. Both French.

come on shire
Duncan Weir looks to be out of the Autumn tests. Fractured a jaw at Munster at the w/e. Didn't have the best of games beforehand. He sold one of the tries.

Has had one decent game for embra so far and been below par for the rest.
dogmc
Ulster are an excellent side. Indeed....they are currently top of the table

He should be back by the Autumn Tests I'd hope.

Love to think so....offers good options at 10 or 2nd receiver at centre plus handy to have a left footed kicker.
come on shire
Glasgow Warriors have signed American internation Langilangi Haupeakua. Solomons steps down as Edinburgh manager. Duncan Hodge is caretaker.
Savage Henry
Edinburgh seem to lack any focus. That's not entirely Solomons' fault.
peasy23
Edinburgh seem to lack any focus. That's not entirely Solomons' fault. They seem to have had a fair number of imports that haven't been good enough.
Savage Henry
They seem to have had a fair number of imports that haven't been good enough. An awful lot of imports full stop. I have to think that was intentional - Edinburgh for the project players and Glasgow for the Scots.
come on shire
Both clubs are given approx £5m per year each by the SRU. Edinburgh haven't spent the money wisely is all. They say that Solomons has improved the club but two successive 8th place finishes with a 9th last season doesn't show that imo. Cotter to take over at Montpellier nxt season when Jake White leaves. Glasgow and Edinburgh open to private investment to stay competitive with England and France. Any investor expected to encourage Scottish talent though. Arguably the young scots coming through are better than most of their imports. Hopefully first thing hodge does is stop them aimlessly kicking away every bit of possession they have.

With the squad they have Edinburgh should have been doing better. In last 3 years they have had some good results but then they drift for a few games. Win or lose Glasgow know exactly how they want to play. Edinburgh often look they don't know what the game plan is.
honestly united
I would say Edinburgh have improved slightly but not much. They have gone from having a very attack minded team trying to outscore the opposition but usually failing, to a very tight team trying to concede less than the opposition and usually failing.Hopefully hodge can get the balance right
