Salvo Montalbano
27 minutes ago, Left Back said: The game only continues over 80 in the event of an act of foul play. This stops the team in the lead from ending the game by deliberately committing an offence. That’s an entirely different scenario to running out of time. The game goes over 80 all the time though. It continues until the ball goes dead (unless doing so causes a penalty to be awarded).
Left Back
I have no idea why people are being obtuse here. We all know the game doesn’t end exactly when the clock hits 80. That doesn’t set a precedent for continuing indefinitely.

Ewanandmoreagain
I was amazed to learn the TMO , no I was amazed to learn some players have smart gumshields to assist with the assessment of head injuries ! Something they have got right!
Bairnardo
Maybe a touch against the grain here but since I just read yet another "should have had the game sewn up anyway" take, I am 100% firmly.against this patter. Not only are France an excellent team who put on some unbelievable rugby in the very recent WC, we are Scotland. We are going to be in tight games, even before you consider that this was v France. We have the same right as anyone else to come out on the winning side of a tight, nervy match. Scotland done everything that was required of them to deliver a win in that match. Handwaving away a wildly wrong and incompetent refereeing call for some reason makes absolute no sense.

Not every game is won in the first half a la Wales.

Mark Connolly
The SRU rightly take a lot of stick, but sometimes they are due credit as well. The recent upgrading of Non-Cap Internationals to full Test status, and subsequent "capping" of a load of players has been excellent.
honestly united
But to add to kicking the SRU, they have cancelled the Super 6. With no plan of what is going to replace it, Or when its actually going to finish, ie after the upcoming sprint series, or after the next series in the autumn So were in a position where all the clubs, players and coaches have no idea whats going on or whats happening next. Do the 6 teams drop back into the existing league structure, which is supposed to be fully amateur, releagating a whole host of clubs? Do all the players have to go back to amateur status, when they have bills to pay etc Hopefully a plan is put in place soon for player developmenet path ways etc, however having a new plan first would probably have been better than ripping up what you have (which probably needs it) a having nothing in place.

Who could possibly have foreseen this outcome, eh? How many millions has Dodson wasted on his folly? You've now got a couple of hundred part-time players and support staff, potentially out of work in just a few months, plus 6 clubs whose financial models are torched. Their regular XVs are scattered down the levels (just 2 are in top tier and Boroughmuir as far down as tier 4); plus the system is supposed to be amateur. My guess is they put the other 4 in next season's Premiership temporarily expanded with a split, plus allow some form of pay again... and all hell will break loose.
Left Back
That’s a far stronger team taking the field for Edinburgh tonight than I expected.

Snobot
God Edinburgh are bad. 2x British Lions, multiple internationals. The passing and basic skills are terrible.

The rumour doing the rounds is that there is going to be a shadow URC, although the SA teams are unlikely to be involved
