forfarton
Also FC Edinburgh v Queen of the South on Friday night. Edinburgh were the slightly better side in the 1st half and QotS dominated the 2nd half. Some good saves from Mutch in Edinburgh goal. Jute
Leith Ath 0-1 Pebbles Rovers East of Scotland League Cup 2nd round. Even first half with both teams creating a number of chances and both keepers making some excellent saves. Second half was going the same way until the Leith right back was rightly red carded for a wild challenge on the far sideline. Peebles took advantage and score minutes later. Decent crowd in despite the weather.
Guest
Newburgh 4-2 Hawick Royal Albert East of Scotland League Cup This is what I love. When the weather gets a wee bit better going to mental places like Newburgh. Regionalised football sees very North of Fife play nearly England. Hawick had far better of the first our and somehow found themselves 4-0 down after a penalty, a worldie and a cross cum shot ended the game as a contest. A late rally makes the scoreline look a bit better but Hawick leave themselves too much to do. Don't think this referee will be getting bought many pints in Hawick. However, Newburgh keeper thinks it's okay to call someone a four letter word that rhymes with dong and was rightly sent off. Well done ref. Really like East Shore Park. It is indeed on the East Shore of the Tay so the name is correct. Basic yes but decently maintained and had plenty cover for the 40 or so of us here when the rain came on. Nice touch to have the school benches and plastic seats for the older demographic. Worth a visit
Andy groundhopper
Holiday week begins at Keppoch Park for Glasgow Perthshire 3 St.Anthony's 2 att around 110. Decent game 01 in the 1st minute and the drama carried on through the game, Perth having a pen saved at 1-1, the away manager being sent off (ref didn't help matters despite the abuse he got) and a last minute winner to start wild scenes amongst the home players & support.Decent pie at half time as well.
atfccfc
Ticked off The Balmoral stadium today for Cove Rangers V Partick Thistle. 39 of 42 done now. An absolutely superb performance from Thistle from the first to last minute against woeful Cove Rangers who looked completely disorganised and shambolic. I had noted the form of both before the game and didn't expect much from Cove, but they were an embarrassment to their club especially with the players they have in their squad. No fight whatsoever in that team. (Sorry Cove fans ) But Thistle were great. They scored some very good goals as well. The support from Thistle was top draw as well. Over 300/400 travelling from Glasgow were well rewarded. 5-0 Thistle. Crowd was 1044 Ticket was £13 Programme £3 Balmoral pie £3.30. Not great. BullyWeeStonehouse
Game 1 of 2 for me this weekend. Was at the San Siro today for Inter Milan 0-1 Fiorentina. Both teams missed loads of chances in an end to end game, really could’ve ended up 3-3 if it wasn’t for poor finishing. There was over 73,000 at the game today including a large travelling support of over 1000 I would say. Glad to have been to the San Siro before it gets pulled down, it really is something else! Crow
Manchester City 4-1 Liverpool @ Etihad Stadium . Mo Salah put the visitors ahead with a great finish but City levelled before the break and were far too strong in the 2nd half winning easily. Thankfully for Liverpool they declared at 4. The Mantis
Border Amateurs. Sanderson Cup 1/4 Final at Woodside Park, Kelso. Mrs Mantis' birthday so treated her to a day in Kelso... train to Tweedbank and bus to Kelso (I know, I know). Managed to sneak off for a game. Kelso Thistle 3 Berwick Colts 1. Kelso bottom of the league but fairly convincing against their higher opposition. This park hosted EOS games back in the days of Kelso Utd, very basic place on a wet day but an enjoyable battle with plenty of cards as the ref was well worth his fee. P.S. They are of 3 World Cup winner's born in the area: Sir Geoff Hurst MBE and Jimmy Armfield CBE, who were with England in 1966, and Simone Perrotta who was born in Ashton but played for Italy in 2006. Apparently he only found out about it 7 years later lol.
