  1. There is no specific level that will generate a ban.

The mods use the warning system a bit like a referee would. If you are guilty of persistent fouling and you have plenty of warnings you may well end up with a red card one day.

I'm not sure Brophy would want to come back to us after a successful spell up north.

By all accounts Brophy didn't really want to leave the central belt but he went to Dingwall to play regular football and to get fit and hopefully scoring again between now and the end of the season.

At the moment he's doing exactly that, I'm sure even exceeding County's expectations in terms of how well it's going.

He is our player for another year but his contract is still going to be an issue for us so I still fully expect him to move on in the Summer even if he continues his excellent form between now and the end of the season.

Be interesting to see if he can stay fit between now and then, that's been his main problem during his time with us and even when he was at Kilmarnock.

  3. Have to say at the time I thought it was a red because I thought Phillips had stamped down on Flynn but having seen it again several times I don't see any intent or malice in the challenge, just a really poor touch on a bobbly pitch leading to him stretching over the ball and unfortunately catching Flynn in doing so.

It was totally accidental and had it been the other way around I'd have been very disappointed if one of our lot was sent off for that.

Seems like VAR has moved on from penalties now and is just determined to see players sent off.

Was a pretty scrappy game as it always seems to be in Perth. The pitch was absolutely shite which didn't help either team.

Given how good he' been all season in midfield, might it be that he was actually playing with an injury, given that he had to be substituted.

I do agree that last week's midfield was great in the first half.

Yeah that is fair comment, he just didn’t look right at Motherwell so maybe was down to a knock.

The St.Johnstone midfield isn’t exactly built for flair so maybe we do need another dog in there to compete.

Would feel criminal to drop Flynn after last week though and I just always feel we look a more threatening team with Kilts in the side.

First goal as ever is the key today, whoever gets it wins the game IMO.

  5. Dundee Utd have that overwhelming stench of relegation about them right now. I expect them to lose in Dingwall on Saturday and that might just cause enough panic that sees Fox getting binned.

Whilst accepting that there are many other problems at the club, I do think he's out of his depth and needs emptied asap.

Who would replace him though is the 64 million dollar question.

Saturday was a bit of a surprise considering the shocking performance at Motherwell a few days before; half the squad injured and a bench of untried teenagers. However we blew RC away and should have won that by considerably more goals. Injury list is still horrendous and getting worse with Dec and Tanser taken off on Sat but one or two others may come back into contention. on the bench if not starting. Hard game but surely we have to start winning Away sometime?

Tanser didn't play on Saturday? The only new injury was to Dec as far as I am aware? I definitely don't think we will see him on Sat so.............

Definitely missing; Ayunga, Greive, Tait, Gallagher, Tanser
    Possibly missing; Baccus, Gogic

The way he pulled up I’d expect he’d be out for a few weeks at least sadly.

Could certainly do with Gogic or/and Baccus back.  Even although the midfield did well on Saturday those two out really cut down our options.

Yeah I don't expect to see Dec on Saturday unfortunately.

Shags will come in for him and I guess Murray Campbell will be the central defensive option from the bench.

Middle of the park is indeed a dilemma.

Would be harsh to drop Flynn after that display on Saturday and I always feel we look more dangerous with Kiltie in the team.

    But............

Whilst Gogic was a shambles at Fir Park, this is exactly his sort of game, and you'd always find room for Baccus.

Guess at least if both are back as you say then it drastically improves our options off the bench either way.

  8. Always a fixture I dread.

St.Johnstone with a honking home record, St.Mirren with a honking away record. A marvellous combination.

Our win at McDiarmid towards the end of last season was the only time we've even managed to score a goal in Perth in any of our last 9 visits and I still have nightmares about the 3-0 scudding we took there in September.

Hoping that either Baccus and/or Gogic might be back in contention for us, yet to hear what the script is with big Dec.

When we are chasing late goals SR has not utilised by Joe up front really... think he was on once and his kick at goal landed at Grieves feet and he scored.

Last season, this was a real option... should still be.

    It absolutely should be.

Our game plan is built on a model of at least one big striker, preferably two, with plenty balls into the box and working off 2nd balls.

A front two of Watt and either of Offord or Jamieson is simply not going to give us that.

Putting Joe up there to cause some chaos and win those balls in the box is far from the worst shout as an emergency measure.

And with three strikers ruled out this is very much an emergency.

Baccus no loss given his recent form but Gogic and Main is a big FFS!!

    Good news about Greive though.

I've seen some wild takes on the team at times but that one takes the biscuit mate!

Baccus missing is an absolute disaster IMO.

Defence should be solid enough tomorrow with Small replacing Tanser and Strain, Fraser, Dec and hopefully Dunne making up a very capable back 5.

Imagine Flynn, O'Hara and Kiltie will make up the middle three with Watt and either Offord or Jamieson partnering him.

Or as a total curve ball we could try big Shags up front with Watt. I wouldn't be totally averse to that to be honest!

  11. Motherwell made Mark O'Hara an offer to sign a new contract at Fir Park but they could not match what we offered which is why he moved to Paisley.

The Steelmen were also in for Keanu Baccus and again lost out because we offered more than they could.

That might say Motherwell are more prudent than St.Mirren, or it might say St.Mirren are more ambitious than Motherwell. Or it might say something completely different depending on what side of the fence you are standing on.

Either way, both are 100% true.

  12. Think fans of every club will claim that if another team is looking for three points then their club is the one that usually oblige.

We've done that ourselves more times than I care to remember over the years but we did buck the trend at Pittodrie a couple of weeks ago and if we play at the top of our game there's no reason why we can't twist the knife a bit into Motherwell.

Fully expect Kettlewell to strip things back a bit though and get back to basics. I got the impression Hammell had just reached the point where he was just throwing random bodies into the team and hoping for the best.

Kettlewell will surely realise for example that Obika (for all we love him) is nowhere near good enough or fit enough to play in the Premiership whilst the likes McKinstry should be starting every game (IMO).

I'm also a total outsider but I'd have thought the likes of Crankshaw and Dean Cornelius would bring a bit more energy to the team?

Sure Tony Watt will be desperate to start in this one and it looks very much like he will.

Still, if they score more than five against us it'll be boom time for Greenock-based manufacturers of commemorative DVDs.

Already preparing for the whataboutery about the size of our support at Celtic Park tomorrow night.

No chance we will take anything like Morton took there for the 4th round tie, simply because this isn't a Sunday School novelty trip for us.

If we take 1000 I'll be pleasantly surprised tbh.

I know its on their patch and Celtic are always favoured higher than ever there(and rightly so), though you don't have to go too far back when there was talks of 4/5/6/7-0's by media pundits and Celtic podcasters leading up to our 2-0 victory at home a few months ago.

These are also one off games, in terms of whats at stake, so hopefully it has a bit of cup fever to it and gives us something similar to what we seen at Hampden back in 2013... another occasion where we were written off before a ball was kicked.

There is always a chance. We created some decent openings at Celtic Park just 3 weeks ago and had we got our noses in front as we very nearly did in that game then you give yourself something to defend and we've shown we can be very organised and hard to break down many times this season already, not least against Celtic in Paisley.

I think the main problem you have with Celtic now is the strength in depth they have, it's unbelievable.

They don't really rotate as much for this type of game as they used to (see the starting XI they put out against Morton in the last round for example) but even if they did the guys who would come in aren't young boys these days, they are proven internationalists.

And if the game isn't going to plan for them they can bring on 5 subs, changing half the team, and all those guys coming off the bench are going to be proven quality.

It's an unbelievably hard task for us, but in a perfect storm where all our boys have the game of their lives, Celtic are miles off it, and we have a huge dollop of luck you never know.

    We can always dream!

  15. Been a couple of years since I set foot inside either Parkhead or Ibrox to watch us. For me football should be about enjoyment and I started to hate going to both grounds for many different reasons so I just stopped doing it.

No chance I'm missing tomorrow though. Think the only Scottish Cup tie I've missed since 1987 though other than the COVID season was Peterhead replay at Balmoor in 2011 when we won 6-1 after drawing 0-0 with them in Paisley.

So I was at Parkhead for the cup tie in 2017 where we all dared to dream after going in 1-0 up at the interval. Think it was Mallan who hit the crossbar early in the second half and then we got well and truly battered and it ended up 4-1 which was incredibly harsh.

    There's always a chance, isn't there?

And make sure we keep hold of Robbo

It's not quite a David Martindale type situation with Robbo but in terms of Scotland the only real threat I would see to taking him away would possibly be Hibs and even then I don't think his style of football would go down that well there. Maybe he'd adapt that if he had more money to spend.

The threat to us would come from down South but a win rate of just 25% at Morecambe might scare a few off albeit they were punching above their weight a bit.

Nothern Ireland gig concerned me a wee bit but that's now out of the equation too.

Don't seem to be able to upload images or screenshots anymore, just get a paperclip symbol next to "loading.." which doesn't change. I've used up 26% of my attachments quota. If I click on the paperclip nothing happens.

Absolutely nothing has changed our side mate.

What browser are you using and does the same thing happen when using a different browser?

  18. Thoroughly enjoyed the performance from start to finish last night. Other than the totally needless penalty that we gave away it was a perfect performance from every single player including the subs.

How many times have we seen us fail to capitalise on numerical advantages over the years? It was brilliant to see us absolutely nail the game plan against the ten men, we absolutely battered them.

Fantastic to see both Dec and Maino getting goals up there but what I really liked was the reaction when VAR confirmed the third goal.

Every single player straight over to the bench to celebrate with the manager and the rest of the squad.

The togetherness on the pitch with this squad, the management and the supporters is like something I've not seen since the Millennium Champions team.

These good times typically don't last too long at clubs our size so drink it all in and enjoy it, because it is absolutely fucking glorious.
