This thread is turning into a bin fire this week, after arguably our biggest win in seasons in our return to the championship, Remember League 1 forum for the League 1 pish.
Any further update on Devenney, is McCabes injury a season ender and do we plan to increase the squad before the window slams shut..
A Facebook rumour of a signing on Monday, surprisingly came to nothing,,
Someone must be ITK...
And not to forget a massive League Cup tie against Premier opposition coming up on Saturday..
Exactly the reason why I dont post half the stuff I hear, always turns out to be a half truth. I'd heard the Justin deal was done and was being confirmed this week, its now Thursday and nothing, although I was talking to someone completely different on Tuesday night (a player btw) who told me more or less the same thing about Justin, obviously cagey to give anything too much away but described it as "the worst kept secret".
Agree about the bin fire though.

Give me an example of a team in the Championship who don’t have a full complement of defenders, midfielders or strikers.

Into the last 8 of the Monklands Singles, play the QF tomorrow night at Garrowhill, our pairs and triples are also into the QF and all at Garrowhill also.
Last Thursday night we were beaten in the Laney triples 3 games to 1, could have been 4-0 either way tbf, really good close games. Friday night in the last Lanarkshire league game, a 6-0 win over Calderbank secured the LBA league over Dalzell meaning a 9th promotion in 11 years! Saturdays all day comp was decent if a bit wet and then we were beaten 6-2 in the TOP 10, singles beaten 21-11, pairs beaten 16-14, our triples won 16-13 and the fours were beaten 14-12. close games all round so can't grumble too much. Not a lot left to play for this year, semi final of the club pairs and QF of the championship.

Honestly mate a don't ask any questions, happy with any information at all tbf . Genuinely only thing mentioned was that's it just about confirmed and it's a good deal for the club by all accounts

Not doubting what you've heard, but I've heard the same thing for a few weeks now.
So think it's imminent but it's now a case of the sooner the better for all parties. And the very best of luck to him.
I can only tell ye what I hear mate. Same person that's told me about a few things at different clubs during the summer that's pretty spot on. I only posted this one because it's Airdrie related

Heard through the grapevine tonight the Justin to crystal palace transfer will be confirmed in the next couple of days and it's a very good deal for the club. Don't know numbers etc but the words were 'the club has done well'.

I knew our recent record against you lot was bad, but f***ing hell! Think our last win against you was back in 2010, 2-0 at our place, if I remember correctly!
If I was a betting man, my cash certainly wouldn't be on Airdrie this weekend.

Just think since Doolans taken over, there's been more good than bad, and early season signs after some doom and gloom financial news has been decent for the jags. I'm fairly realistic in the sense that I know we'll struggle for the majority of the season and we need to hope theres a couple struggle more than us.
No idea about McGill and Todorovs injuries, and I doubt anyone signing now is coming straight into the starting 11. Wonder how many games into the season we'll still be saying "The squads too light". I've not abandoned all hope of a few new signings (at some point!) but it seems like we're just sleepwalking through this period between pre season ending and league campaign in full swing. Disappointing if we only end up adding another body and try and "luck it out".
I think Hancock might start tomorrow in place of ATS tomorrow with Josh Rae back as well, and that might be the only changes from last week.

Speaking with someone yesterday whose son played with Hancock in the youth team at Aberdeen and he really rated him although not the tallest for a centre back.
Would you say 'highly rated'?

Wotherspoon would’ve easily been on 4 figures a week at st johnstone. There’s no danger of us paying him that sort of money.
Also depends what we can offer these guys, as well as the playing side. Guys will be looking at what to do after they retire also. Would the club pay for David's badges if he wanted that? Allow a pathway into coaching for him, use of the stadium for 1 to 1 training like a few players do etc.
Clubs are moving in this direction and facilities and availablity can also influence guys decisions. We'll see.
Cue him f*cking off to the Vancouver whitecaps.

I could imagine McCabe being a bit reluctant to go for an older player who has a reputation for downing tools or causing issues

I was shocked at the number of times Airdrie lost possession in their own half
I wasn't. Its going to be a recurring theme this season IMO.

You would hope…
It appears to me that we’ve not really made any signings that would trump McCabe’s career and so wonder if this would come into play as he is still a player first and foremost
That's you prerogative, understand where you're coming from, but for me, guys who've had a decent career or are wrapping up in the premiership, will have more attractive offers than Airdrie lets just get that out there. It all depends on the "older pro" as well, will they be confident playing for a "younger guy", me personally I think McCabe has massive potential as a manager and these next couple of years will have a massive say on how far he goes in the game. He talks the right way, wants to play the right way, talking to a few guys, his training is very professional and intense, I just don't see him not signing someone because they had a longer career at a higher level, but again only IMO.

I think this as well. He's got a great chance to make a solid foundation here, and if we can consolidate in the championship while playing a nice brand of football, he won't be here long, which will be bittersweet, but not unexpected.

Perhaps I should re-phrase…
Would McCabe want to recruit someone with a better career than he? Wetherspoon has played in the top league for years and has played at senior international level. Would McCabe want that level of experience possibly conflicting with his ‘what I say goes’ regime?
I'd like to think that Rhys' would think on the flipside of this " a senior player, playing at the highest level in the country for years, and also having international caps, and by all accounts, a bloody good guy to have around the team (from St J anyway). who wouldn't want him in our league?"

Good win away in the Lanarkshire top 10 yesterday, away at Caldercraig. Good week coming up this week, Tuesday I've got the last 16 of the Monklands Singles, then a chance to pick up some silverware with the Laney Triples final (against Caldercraig again), and on friday the last lanarkshire league game, where 6 points will win the league (4 MIGHT do depending on shot difference and if Dalzell beat Bothwell 6-0 away from home).
We've got our sponsored all day event on Saturday, which should be a messy occasion, and then the next day we're at home to Bellshill & Mossend in the next round of the Top 10 (im not holding out much hope based on alcohol intake the previous day!)

What a result last night in the Lanarkshire League. 4 points behind first place, playing them away last night at Dalzell, after 14 ends we were down in 2 out the 3 games, a few cracking last ends and we came away with 6 points to go top by 2 with a game to go! Win 6-0 at home next week and that's 9 promotions in 11 years!

Just looking for a bit of local knowledge on a good place to park, I’ll be coming in to town from Kirkcaldy way as I’m through in the East Neuk. Is there somewhere on the way in before I reach the stadium?
I'll be abandoning the chariot round about the Garvock hill area.
Looking forward to the game because I don't know what to expect. would I be surprised at going 3-0 up? no. Would I also be surprised at going 3-0 down, still no.
Both sides still far from the finished article, and some injury worries and suspensions for both teams. I suspect with this in mind, both teams come 5pm might be satisfied with a point each.

Just a prediction but I think squad depth is gonna crucify us this year, we simply don't have the options (yet!) To change a game.

Everyone is totally entitled to their own opinion, that's the beauty of this forum!
With that said, here's my tuppence worth.
I'm as frustrated as anyone about the lack of signings, especially since we're night and day away from the club we were 5-6 years ago both in terms of on and off the field, I just feel we're 2 cracking signings away from getting that feel good factor carrying on again. The league cup campaign was ultimately as successful as it could have been (so far) results and financial wise, so again, buys slightly more time and funds (IMO of course). There will be a lot of if's and but's and I've absolutely no doubt there will have been offers made and probably still offers on the table for players who like Telfer last year will be looking for a better deal than Airdrie.
I mentioned previous, I won't moan until it costs us, but we can all see the perils of firing into a season with 4 defenders, a level above where a lot of these guys have operated consistently in the last few years, and I can totally see where the pessimism is coming from but we'll reserve judgement for a few weeks. I'm not too enamoured with the lack of signings, but I'll still be in Dunfermline.
*Disclaimer* I'm absolutely not a happy clapper

You quite good then?
I absolutely hate answering that question I've played for a few years, play with the county, won the club championship 3 times, got 2 Scottish Silver Medals and a bronze from Northfield, won the district to get to Northfield 5 times (singles, 3 X triples and a fours), a few local titles as well. The club do well in the leagues also but I just enjoy it and it we win more games than we lose, then I'm happy
