Bit of a ramble here but with County having their new manager lined up we can breathe a sigh of relief. It’s the first time I can remember I feel the dread every time a top flight manager gets sacked. Makes me realise how much I have loved the last 18ish months. Even Murray I wasn’t overly fussed with losing although at the time I wanted him to stay.

Been reading loads of different threads about loads of clubs recently (too much time on my hands perhaps). This is really not meant to be a happy clapping post at all (as I usually state I’m pessimistic as f**k) but I genuinely believe we need to really appreciate the position we are in since Airdrieonians/Airdrie Utd returned.

You just need to read some threads to see the shit state clubs can find themselves in Clydebank, Clyde, QoS, Dumbarton (all clubs we played regularly when I was younger) to name a few would give their right arm to be where we are.

I’ve been reading some lower league threads too (Darvel, Johnstone Borough, EK, Tranent) again just to name a few are or have been throwing ridiculous sums of money about to get up the pyramid. Edinburgh, Kelty, Cove have done it and now find themselves in danger of of heading the other way again (Cove less dramatically than the other 2 mentioned). Berwick spent money to try get back out the lower league but got blew away with budgets from the likes of Spartans and EK and are now struggling. Cowdenbeath, East Stirling, Albion Rovers all long-standing clubs with little chance of ever getting back as long as money men keep pumping money into the Lowland league and below. These teams just can’t compete.

I would never tell anyone to settle and we must strive to improve and do better. I would also never dream of telling anyone how to support our club. This club has not felt this good for a long long time though. Dare I say bar our league winning season as Airdrie Utd we haven’t had a feeling close to where we are rite now in decades. It’s a moment of realisation for me more than anything but I just urge people to savour this, enjoy it and back these guys even if things turn over the next few months.

Very rarely do I see a post that I can say, almost word for word that's exactly how I feel. But it's here and it's perfect....

Amazing how things change, with Aiken out and McMaster struggling he's just about 1st pick in the central midfield area. I don't think even Falkirk fans doubted his ability but his work rate is tremendous this season.

But then again they also couldn't take to Mr cool himself ATS. I get it, it doesn't work for some people at some clubs but I'm genuinely struggling to name a time big Sincy has let us down when called upon as well ♦️

  3. Worth mentioning, 2 boys from our club were beaten in the semi finals of the Hong Kong Classic this morning. What an achievement even being selected to represent one of the Scottish places over there never mind both.  Gary's had an excellent year, making his international debut at the home international series in Northfield and winning the series playing 3rd to Grant Logan in the 4's. Paul was also my skip this year when we won the Lanarkshire County 4's Championship.

  4. Actually forgot to post my thoughts on Sunday, so here goes.

Funny atmosphere at the game I thought, very relaxed from both sets of fans and I actually thought both teams made it very easy for the referee as a contest.  A few shouts for the tussles between Todorov and the Arbroath centre halves, same with ATS and the Attackers but it was absolutely fine, everyone having a bit of the action and "fairly" fair.  Lewis McGregor still frustrates me, we'll play better and lose.

Thought Arbroath in a few spells popped the ball about well between the halfway line and our 18 yard...... and then didn't really do anything.  Quietest I've seen one of my favourite lower league footballers, McKenna, which I was glad of.

Not the worst game, decent result, and still more than 2 teams between us and the bottom.

    Thank you.

This game could be 0-0, 5-5 or 6-0 to either team and I wouldn't be surprised.

That's exactly how I feel about this one, 6-0 either way and anything in between is totally plausible. We had a very good performance against Raith and if we can replicate that in any way, I'd be less pessimistic. Always get the fear playing Arbroath tbh.

. I'm not convinced the return of Hamilton and Gullan will do much to change that going on this seasons evidence either.

I know obviously you guys have seen him more, but in my mind a couple of they chances are exactly the ones Hamilton would be sticking away, it's exactly what he was doing at Arbroath. I remember the first game he was far and away raiths most useful player IMO.

I was entertained/shit scared in equal measures yesterday and as most folk said, I can accept most FT results if we get that level of performance, especially against a team aiming for the title so I'm not disheartened at all. In fact, based on my pre match comments I'll eat a bit of humble pie, McCabe changed it up and it appeared to work, with a bit more composed finishing or a bit less world class goalkeeping that could have been one to remember.

Second prize, we use the momentum into this next run of games and throw a few results together and use it as a good foundation to build from.

  7. A binfire-less thread again 🙌.

Aloha residents of Kirkcaldy. Me and the daughters coming through for this one, but I'm really, really not confident. Every team in the league stringing together a few results have made changes in shape or brought one or two into the starting lineup, we seem to be playing the same game every week, even when it's clearly not working. I've been looking at the squad the last few weeks saying "who's coming into the team to really change it up" and I just can't see where it's coming from. Telfers came back into the team and been 'alright', frizz is off the boil imo, Aitken's forms took a bit of a dip and now an injury, McGregors dipped aswell from being average to non existent. Doesn't usually grate on me as much but it's definitely playing at the back of my mind.

Raith will be right up for this and the last game could certainly be put down to a bad day at the office coupled with us playing some decent stuff. You don't challenge for a championship by not being competent. I expect with the backing of a decent crowd we might be under the cosh a bit but I'll happily be proved wrong.
