Stick in mate, hopefully a good day all round. 👍

Forgot to post on here lol managed to win the Lanarkshire fours last Saturday, played really well and finished comfy. Also tonight was the Monklands championships starting, a burgh of Lanarkshire, played in the singles, played last year's winner and won 21-17, great game, some heads.

Got the Laney triples semi final on Thursday, Lanarkshire league on Friday so hoping for a great week 🤞

  2. Quite rightly both teams will be looking at this as  winnable tie and a chance to progress. Our results in the league cup this season, and premiership teams in the past couple are reasonable grounds for optimism, but we'll need to be firing on all cylinders.

Simon Murray loves a goal against us though 🤮

  3. Fwiw on the game.

I thought we were excellent in the first half, some of the patterns of short passing got us round players and I to space very effectively. We also pressed ICT really well and intercepted passes numerous times, also Ballantyne had a great first half, thought he got the better of longstaff in the challenges out wide. Halftime obviously allowed Inverness to reset, shift a couple of bodies and come up with a new plan, which coupled with us starting to blow out our arse, meant they began to dominate, and deservedly got a goal back from a cracker of a strike. I cannot believe Rae wasn't booked for the length of time taken at goal kicks, however the ref 100% took this into account when playing injury time.

I was amazed todorov was still on the park at 88 minutes, he was done 20 mins before that! A few frustrations about squad depth, trying to walk the ball in when a shot might have been better, and the constant faffing about at the back when the pressures on, but I'll only revisit they concerns when it costs us (which could be ANY time!)

Looking forward to a new ground on Saturday.

It wasn’t a foul on Nicholson. He wasn’t touched at all, which was the most worrying part of it. Looks like he could have done an ACL.

From where I was (admittedly, very far away), both him and O'Connor looked to turn sharply on the touchline, josh got away and the boy Nicholson possibly dislocated his knee. I'm only getting that from the way he turned, dropped and subsequently didn't move from that spot again.

Best wishes to the lad, a painful thing.

As @++Ammo - Airdrie++ will tell you 😉, Ballantyne’s goal was lovely. Really good run and shot (and excellent decoy run from McGregor).

Of course that was going to be the exact moment the wee fella HAD to have a cola. It's frightening how many goals I've missed through toilets, late in, getting a drink etc 😂.

Got in at 12:30 there, great drive back down to be fair, and the best thing I've took from that.... That team has made my 15 year old lassie take an interest in football, the exciting way they play, the "youthful" side of the squad that wee lassies fancy, the young manager and the promotion bounce it's a really good place at the moment. There's absolutely no danger I could imagine her wanting to come and see Kenny blacks gang in Forfar or the like.

That days fair cheered me up. I'll post my thoughts on the game later but that was good to see a few folk from on here, leaving with a smile aswell.

Congratulations to Ayrshire North on winning the Hamilton Trophy at the weekend. 👏

That Ayrshire team beat us in the group, absolutely no complaints aswell, foster was incredible that day on his own green 😂.

Lanarkshire county finals day today at Overtown, we're in the fours and it's to pish down all day! Hopefully getting blotto this evening celebrating 🤞

Josh Kerr supposedly going to sign a 2 year contract with us today (according to Daily Sport). Remember him being solid for you lads alongside Big Baws Dycey.

Think he was on trial at Thistle last week.

    Thoughts on him?

I'm thinking an option for us but not expecting anything special. L1 likely his ceiling.

Agree with others, I think if Josh had stayed injury free in his career then there's no doubt he would have been playing at least in the championship. Brighton must have seen something once upon a time,  to sign him, albeit for the development squad.

Denied a few absolute rasping free kicks by the woodwork or good goalkeeping and seems like just a nice guy to have around the place.

That genuinely looks like they've been paying since 10am..... its now 5pm and everyones f*cked and half of them have gone home.

And btw, before this is perceived as a moan or a groan.  It was essentially a kick about in a public park, 8-0 or 6-5, couldn't give a f*ck if we never won a pre-season game again, as long as there's a bit more effort when the real stuff starts.

Looks like the away kit has been leaked on Twitter.

Red with a black diamond by the looks of things. The black top with a red diamond is always a favourite and I’m surprised they’ve never done the reverse before. It’s something I’ve always wanted them to go for so I’m looking forward to seeing it!

Have we speculated who is modelling it yet 🧐?

  10. I'll dive in.

20 years past in February there was the last time I spoke to my maw.

She sold the house, fucked off with a new man and lives in Montrose now, so at 17 I was literally just left.

Funnily enough when there was grandchildren involved (2008) there was an attempt made from her to reach out, obviously to play the loving grandmother. I can say for absolute certainty I will never speak to that woman again and I certainly wouldn't bat an eyelid if I got the phonecall telling me she was dead.

Ammo,    That's not what I am saying and you know it, a bit of a fishing trip methinks.....  I will be even blunter. The club should make at least 250k est minimum from increased gates and league prize money,  not just our club all clubs so nothing confidential it's only simple addition.  So if people are thinking it's down to lack of budget or PH not investing , 250k est isn't a bad starting point in trying to keep us up,after what we have had to endure on recent years,  admittedly wages and costs increase quite rightly..

Btw, I've just read your original post again, I think I've read it totally in the wrong context, I'm assuming that you were just illustrating the fact that if we completed the season regardless if we score a goal, we would get x amount.

    I'm a fud.

Gen up, no fishing trip here and meant in the best possible sense btw. I get that costs go up, and with decent additions few and far between, the better ones can ask for that bit extra that maybe separates us from the majority of other teams, like telfer tried last year. There will be trialists bobbing about and players (loans) maybe becoming available when clubs get new replacements in.

Listen, we are where we are regardless of I moan or not. I'm still not getting myself worked up into a sweat..... Yet.

Sinclair played a full season in the Championship where he won the league, but you're right he won't be able to cut it.

He also played as a left back. He isn't capable of that eithe now.

You're absolutely one of the best Airdrie posters on this site but you're miles off the mark on playing up the fact that we could play ATS this season with anything other than disastrous results.

KD, I respect yer opinion all the time on here, but come on man, that was 10+ years ago..... at LEFT BACK!!

This thread is going way off,  let's look at the facts,  we have gained promotion after an eternity in League 1,

If we do not score a goal or win a game, we will be 100k better off with prize money,  average crowds are going to increase to probably the 1500 AVG thanks to the bigger away supports, that and an increase of 2 quid a head admission fee means a lot more coming into the club...

So if we don't score a goal or win a game, where will we end up? I'm not arguing btw just asking, did we get promotion to the championship just to balance the books, before whimpering off back into L1 again for another eternity?  I'm absolutely not advocating a "spend what you don't have" policy, but I'd like to be here to do more than make up the numbers and just pick up £100k before going full "Brechin".

The point I was trying to make was that Watson & Taylor-Sinclair should remain as key players in the set up even if we recruit the additional couple of defenders we all recognise are needed - no need for them specifically to be labelled as squad players.

Watson and ATS should 100% be labelled as squad players.  If they are the quality of players you'd be happy being part of your key 11 starters, then I think you're in for a shock this year.

All that matters is that they are here for the league which is still 3 and a half weeks away.

I really don't fancy a defence against Dunfermline who 50% - 75% of them, haven't played together before.

there are people who are quite happy with that.

That's the bit that I can't really comprehend.
