  1. A binfire-less thread again 🙌.

Aloha residents of Kirkcaldy. Me and the daughters coming through for this one, but I'm really, really not confident. Every team in the league stringing together a few results have made changes in shape or brought one or two into the starting lineup, we seem to be playing the same game every week, even when it's clearly not working. I've been looking at the squad the last few weeks saying "who's coming into the team to really change it up" and I just can't see where it's coming from. Telfers came back into the team and been 'alright', frizz is off the boil imo, Aitken's forms took a bit of a dip and now an injury, McGregors dipped aswell from being average to non existent. Doesn't usually grate on me as much but it's definitely playing at the back of my mind.

Raith will be right up for this and the last game could certainly be put down to a bad day at the office coupled with us playing some decent stuff. You don't challenge for a championship by not being competent. I expect with the backing of a decent crowd we might be under the cosh a bit but I'll happily be proved wrong.

I don't venture into this forum too often so I missed this thread.

First picked up a bowl in 1989 as a kid and played for about 10 years up to and including regional U25... gave it up at about 20 when there was much more fun things to do with my life... 🤣

Moved to New Zealand in 2011 and decided to get back into it as a way of getting to know people, within a year I'd skipped the team that won the Canterbury Open Fours beating a team skipped by none other than Gary Lawson (google him) and was picked for the Canterbury rep squad a few years in a row.

Then the kids came along starting in 2014 and my bowls career went in the opposite direction, very much play for fun at the moment and to get out of the house, managed to pick up the odd Club title but certainly not playing at the level I was.

Still only in my early 40s so plenty of time to get back into it.

I'll see if I can dig out some photos later.

I'm sure we also frequented the OLD bowls thread about 8 years ago with you @KiwiDB, when I'd saw in the notifications you posted, I remembered!!

Indoor season here means I do absolutely "F all" bowls related things, can't stick it!

I hope the club deal with this in the strongest possible fashion,  if the alleged remark was made and was the reason for his red card,  a couple of quid fine from the players night out fund is not enough punishment, and the player should not be 'rewarded' with involvement in the first team ,  that should b unacceptable conduct and the player should be subject to internal club discipline process....

Listen, can I just go on record by saying, I have absolutely no idea how true it is, or if it did or didn't happen btw. Someone else commented about him getting sent off and an additional story, and I've just put 2 and 2 together here.

Many know but nobody willing to say it, so it seems.

Apologies, I'd only heard he was sent off for a bit of colourful language, called someone a "m*ngo" and that's what he was sent off for. I have absolutely no idea if that's got anything to do with him not being seen btw so I can't comment on that. In actual fact, I hadn't even noticed he was missing tbh.

  5. Like last week was a good performance, this was equally as good a performance (result wise). They had to really concentrate for the full 90 and all it takes is a rogue flick on or a defensive mix up and it's a different match thread so credit for that, and also Mason Hancock, I thought he was great yesterday again although has a tendency to "overplay", running the ball out once or twice, but still a very impressive performance imo.

Nothing more to add, a co trolled workmanlike performance and digging a result out. Take it and move on.

  6. Genuinely can't predict an outcome for this. Obviously I'd love a win but just get the wee niggly feeling this will be a real battle and I hope the team is picked/set up or is able to change if required. Not confident of a win but also not unhopeful of coming away with SOMETHING. we'll see and the wee lassie is looking forward to ticking cappielow off her list.

I know theres likely to be a few interested (and im sure hes contracted for next season) but the boy Bevan from Albion rovers seems like a bit of a player going by match reports and various other threads on the L2 forum, a young guy signed from Camelon, certainly making all the right noises.

He was making the right noises last season, and I managed to see him twice in person playing and was very impressed.  Exactly the type of player McCabe could develop I think.  Id fancy we'd have a chance if we're in a good position in the league in the new year, depends on the competition though!
