  1. How many players do Rangers (oldco) have under contract for next season? Presumably those who were out of contract have already gone?
  2. There are 3 courses in Perth itself-craigie hill (my club), King James VI on thr island and the North Inch. North Inch is cheapest but not the best-council run and the greens are a bit dubious sometimes. The island is pretty unique and a nice course though I've not played it for years. Craigie Hill, as it's name suggests, is very hilly but has excellent greens and a good clubhouse-nice food etc. Reasonable green fees too. If you don't fancy the hills go for King James VI, definitely worth playing. Outside Perth there's also plenty choice-but the likes of Murrayshall, out towards scone, can be very pricy.
  3. If it becomes clear before the vote that Newco will not get the required eight votes, surely ALL the chairmen will vote against? It would be utter suicide to vote yes if you knew it was never going to pass - imagine it went 9-3 against with only Rangers and, say, Kilmarnock and Inverness voting yes. Killie and ICT fans would justifiably be outraged and subject to massive criticism and boycott from all sides.
  4. Went for my lesson there. Pro watched me hit a series of tee shots 120 yards. Showed me my swing, told me to do one thing differently, next thing I'm blasting it 200 yards straight down the middle. Incredible.
  5. I'd love to be shooting at or below the 90 level on a consistent basis by the end of the year. My best so far is a 91 with a couple of 93s as well, but over the last couple of weeks I've been utterly woeful. Going for a lesson tomorrow to try and straighten things out again!
  6. I've gone awful in the last three weeks. Absolutely awful. My swing feels terrible and I'm barely connecting right with anything!
  7. I couldnt agree with this more. Last week I watched a 19 year old boy, the primary career for his mum, and with no criminal history, jailed for 19 months for writing something stupid on Facebook. This kind of bigotry is what the authorities constantly talk about clamping down on but goes on unchecked. It's scandalous really.
  8. One day I hit an approach shot - an absolute gem, it soared and dropped on the front fringe of the green before coming to a rest about 8 feet from the flag. Only one problem. At my club the second green and the 18th green are side by side, separated by about 15-20 yards of rough and a bunker. I was approaching the 18th. I was eight feet from the second flag. I had to putt off of the green then play a wedge shot up on to the 18th green Played 18 holes yesterday. The greens were unbelievably slow and it took me a while to get used to - unfortunately that involved several three putts before I got into it. Once I got that sorted the rest of my game took a turn for the worse. Not a great score overall
  9. So who represents the holders of the current share then at the meeting? Duff and Phelps?
  10. That Ally Quits headline in the record is different to the edition we've got up here-ours is sky to axe tv deal. looks completely invented to me.
  11. I got a new putter recently that was much, much heavier than my old one. I found it much easier to control right through the swing - keeping it straighter and getting the weight right more often. Definitely a worthwhile investment. I've promised myself a new set of irons when I break 90. I've started to suspect quite a lot that my irons (a 20 year old set of King Cobras) aren't doing much to help me. I was pretty happy with them until I went to a shop to try out new woods and they gave me a 6 iron to warm up with. I couldn't help but hit the thing long and straight - far better than I hit my current irons. Surprising when you try something like that and you feel the difference instantly.
  12. One of the record's sports reporters suggests the SFA get round a table with Green and "thrash out" a suitable punishment. Why on earth would you negotiate a punishment with the perpetrators of the crime! Not to mention the fact that it is to be decided by an independent tribunal. Some of these guys are on another planet.
  13. Am I not right in thinking that really early in the process haudit and daudit claimed they would be done in a matter of weeks and certainly before march 31? Wish I could find the quotes...
  14. This may have been answered already, but I'll ask anyway as this thread is growing exponentially! I notice there is some debate about whether Rangers had the mechanism to take this case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The SFA Handbook (available on scottishfa.co.uk) is littered with references to the CAS in the judicial panel section. If that is the case, then why did Rangers go to the Court of Session?
  15. Rangers have won their appeal. Referred back to the SFA tribunal. Surely the SFA tribunal should tack on a further disrepute charge for taking them to court and now expel them from the SFA post-haste.
  16. More improvement today-a 91. Should really have been well below 90 but blew it on 15 and 18. Normally get 4 or 5 on the 15th but shanked four shots in a row and was lucky to get an 8. Shanked two on the 28th and made 6. Determined to get under 90 next time!
  17. Another decent round today. 95 - but should have been sub 90. I can see that coming soon which will be a great achievement. I was actually on for the 90 until I hit 7-5-5-6 in the last four holes, when I should at worst have had 5-4-3-5./ Getting there.
  18. Got out for 18 this afternoon. Glorious weather so really enjoyable. Managed to shoot a 94 which is my best yet off the summer tees (I got a 93 off the winter tees which are much shorter). Even then I really should have got down to 90 - I hit a 7 and a 6 on the first two holes - both of which I should have done better on - and four times took four shots from positions within 10 yards of the green which was disappointing!
  19. As an aside, crowds at McD for OF games have plummeted in recent years. It used to be that we'd allocate the visitors over 6k tickets and get a crowd of 9-10k. Now we allocate 5k tickets to the OF and there are often big gaps. And plenty tickets for sale outside. Also, the Perth public has zero interest in these games so we sell very few additional home end tickets. I'd be interested to see the figures but I wouldn't be surprised if our lowest home end crowds of the season were against rangers and celtic.
  20. That's pish no.8. Rangers are always allocated that part of the main stand and both stands behind the goals. Those tickets went on sale at the same time as the rest. That's always been the way since we stopped giving the OF the east stand. We give other teams the north stand and part of the main stand. The additional allocation given to Rangers is the Ormond Stand-behind the goal at the car park end. That stand is usually used as a family stand for non OF games.
  21. Rangers were allocated almost 5000 tickets for the match. 1900 in each end stand and 1000 in the Main. They sold around 4100 - almost totslly full behind the goals and about 3-400 in the Main. There were hundreds of tickets unsold for the Rangers end.
  22. I've felt my game improving over recent weeks, although not seen a great improvement in my scores. It feels like I'm very, very close to a breakthrough and a significant drop in scores - hope it comes soon!
  23. As stated above, Rangers brought approx 4100 fans last time. If they all bought adult tickets (which they didn't) it would be £23 a head - £188,600 across two games. Set against that we had between 2300 and 2500 home fans at the last Rangers game. The previous home game saw 4000 Saints fans through the door. Even if you round that to only 1000 fans lost and take that at an average ticket price of £15 (taking into account adults/kids/concessions) you're losing £15,000 x 2 = £30,000. Then take off Rangers' 5% and the added expenses and you're looking at a loss in income nearer £140,000 at an absolute maximum (and that's almost certainly a gross exaggeration) by losing their away support. And that's before you take into account a different team visiting McDiarmid Park twice a year instead. If it was Dundee who came up instead they'd probably bring between 2,000 and 3,000 fans for each game in the SPL, and you'd undoubtedly see a massive upsurge in the home support - probably above the 4,000 mark. Without getting into the merits of the derby element, Saints and Dundee fans love a head to head and I'd expect a crowd in the high 6,000 region, probably over 7,000 for the first clash at McDiarmid in the SPL in over a decade. So rather than losing money without their away support we'd pretty much break even. Maybe even make a little extra. And I'd far prefer a visit from Dundee than Rangers. A far better atmosphere and a much better game.
