  1. There is also a cup competition with a group stage. Of course, the number of games would have increased if other clubs had not pulled out.
  2. Norway's "total control" and "loads of chances" in that game corresponded to six shots, one on target, before that penalty. It was a dull game where both teams cancelled each other out, they were definitely slightly the better team, but you'd expect that, they were at home. We defended excellently throughout that game.
  3. No idea, was just pointing out that saying something came from the Daily Mail doesn't mean it's nonsense, in fact for this type of story it probably makes it more likely to be true.
  4. The journalist Stephen McGowan at the Daily Mail has about the best SFA sources of any current Scottish journalist.
  5. It doesn't take a good deal of work, somebody could do it in about half an hour.
  6. We've never finished bottom of either half of the split in the current 12 team set-up, and our most common position has been second-bottom of both halves. 1st - 0 2nd - 0 3rd - 1 4th - 2 5th - 4 6th - 0 7th - 3 8th - 3 9th - 2 10th - 3 11th - 4 12th - 0
  7. Armstrong's big ticket moments were getting the first goal in the win over Lithuania that kept our 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign alive and scoring a double and setting one up away in Armenia in that Nations League game when we were in the midst of a bit of a wobble. However, he also played in every single game of that winning Nations League campaign, 6 of the games in the most recent Euros qualifying campaign and started the game that sealed the play-off place for the last World Cup. He also set up Chris Martin's late winner against Slovenia, Forrest's first goal in that Israel game, Che Adams' goal against Denmark at Hampden and Shankland's equaliser against Gerorgia. That's a long and illustrious Scotland career with sustained contributions, rather than just a very good couple of games. Even looking at the match report from the Israel game where Forrest scored the hat-trick, I found the following:
  8. Still not sure what tournament we'll be starting in, but we are definitely on our way to Europe. Obviously some major demons to exorcise from last time, but with the manager's experience at this level I reckon we have a decent chance of at least winning a tie or two if we get half decent draws. Looking at the Europa League route, it's possible we could end up playing the likes of Ajax or Porto straight away, which would be a great tie to get but also one we'd have basically no chance in.
  9. Our record in them is always terrible regardless of whether we are good, bad or anywhere in between. In our last 19 friendlies, we have 2 wins, 4 draws and 13 defeats.
  10. We would have an extremely good team if we were allowed guys playing in other countries, but instead it has several Championship players and only one playing at a club above us in the league. Hemming O'Donnell Broadfoot Murray Taylor Frizzell O'Hara Kiltie Mackay Brophy Muirhead We could have had guys like Daniel Bachmann, Sean Longstaff and Kristoffer Ajer who might have improved things somewhat compared to what's there.
  11. First time there have been two new winners in a row since Murphy and Dott in 2005 and 2006.
  12. We sat in and defended deep against Ukraine away and against Spain away recently and played very well in both. I think we can do it if we need to.
  13. We wouldn't have to go for the win against Hungary if we were already both on 3 points and knew a draw would take us both through.
  14. I actually said the other day that if we picked our squads like Italy do then he'd probably end up going - they always seem to have some jobber who happens to have scored a bunch of goals in Serie A in the season before the tournament.
  15. Bingham has played some of the worst shots known to man in this match, Jones is properly in his head.
  16. People say this every single year, but there is hardly ever a fully one-sided play-off. Motherwell v Rangers is the only one really.
  17. Some people might still celebrate goals, but it is absolutely the case that a decent people don't do so with the same gusto when they're worried about a foul in the build up. I could list several this season which I have held back a bit because I've been worried about a foul or offside - our equaliser at Celtic Park perhaps being the biggest. The goal above didn't have any potential incidents in the build up which made it less of a worry. I can understand that people sitting at home with no vested interested in a game might see it differently, but they should never be the priority.
  18. You sound like a 5 year-old when you start thinking every bad decision made is the result of cheating, which is probably why nobody else is engaging.
  19. When they had a bad faith owner who was trying to run the club into the ground?
  20. I don't think there's much point in analysing friendlies (albeit that's obviously all they've played since 2022), and I think they have three quite stodgy opponents in their group where I'd expect them to at least end up drawing with one of us.
  21. The thing to note with all this chat about 3 points being enough for a best third place side ignores the fact that it could also potentially be possible to finish 2nd (or 4th) with 3 points in a group like ours. If Germany ended up winning all their games (albeit this is unlikely I think), and then us, Switzerland and Hungary trade wins, then it would come down to the head-to-head table across these matches.
  22. They have had 3 keepers on the bench for some reason in fairness, but I think everyone who has seen him has huge hopes for him.
