  1. Yeah it is men though isn't it. Who are overwhelmingly more likely to be both the perpetrators and victims of violent crime. And men who commit >98% of sexual offences. These might be carried out by a minority of men, but we segregate by sex to protect women from that minority, not because we think all men are likely to cause harm. There's no point pretending it's just as likely to be a women, cos it's patent nonsense.
  2. In addition from what I can gather, protection against discrimination is almost non existent in the US for many people including trans people. That's not the case in the UK, where they have the protected characteristic of gender reassignment by doing nothing other than intending to "change gender". The individuals you mentioned did nothing much more than be troublesome women standing up and saying no... We're no really meant to do that eh.
  3. I'm not stateside, it's batshit over there. This is about Scotland, so keep that wee red herring to yourself. It's not about disliking any individual or even group of people. It's about asking for consideration to be taken to the effects of changing laws. The UK gender recognition law was largely meant to allow a tiny minority of people to marry, without them having to go to the trouble of legislation for same sex marriage. It was anticipated to be used by maybe 5000 people in the first 15 or 20 years I believe. Which turned out to be fairly accurate. But opening this provision out with self ID is completely different.
  4. Oh yes the widely shared comments from the many people who participated in the consultation, but weren't released with the results as promised. Women's groups were not invited to participate in the committee stage of the bill until Sturgeon was shamed into offering a token one hour meeting. There's no gish gallop here, it's not that easy to dismiss it all. You may not like it, but there are valid concerns. What's more likely - that a bunch of women, predominantly left leaning and often gender non conforming and/or lesbians themselves just suddenly morphed into right wing bigots? Or maybe that their concerns have merit and should be listened to?
  5. Some women (I'd wager a majority) wouldn't be happy with 100% unisex facilities though. They want to keep the option of single sex provision.
  6. But what about the men in there, do they not get the choice? It's ok to not want to feel othered or invalidated, but it's also ok for others to have their own feelings about it.
  7. Being able to have a document that says you're another sex, is not changing sex in any meaningful way whatsoever. Hence the above mentioned ambiguity due to the fiction of "legal sex".
  8. Feel free to tell me what bit is BS. The reason it's become so polarised is the way it was to be done without debate. So the "GC mob" have had to get louder as well.
  9. Sigh. I may regret wading in, but that's a massive straw man. Gender dysphoria quite obviously exists. Being able to change sex doesn't. Men with certain self directed fetishes do exist. And women quite rightly don't want to share *anywhere* with them. I can never unsee some if the things I've scrolled past which were filmed in women's toilets. That aspect of it can't be ignored, as no one should have to accept being used in public for someone else's gratification. Yes it's always happened that people would go in, but it's been made massively easier and reduced both the social stigma for men entering women's facilities and the confidence of women to complain about their presence. It can't just be hand waved away. If people are unhappy with men's spaces/sports/hospital wards/refuges, they can't just have women's. They can campaign for their own things, like women already had to. No one at all is against supporting dysphoric people having a hard time, but it canny just be a case of 'budge up women' and/or make everything unisex. (PS no debate or discussion allowed about this.) Don't even get me started on my main worry - the harm that's been done to children and young people, who have had some really poor care and irreversible medical treatment, with no evidence to back it up as being helpful. No proper discussion was wanted and preferably no questions to be asked about the proposed changes to law. The SG paid interest groups massive amounts of money to lobby them to change this and tried to ignore and dismiss any dissenters. So here we are, with this mess and no one is happy. <Backs slowly out of thread>
  10. Yes, maybe it would have helped to have them both on for a bit - when the ball came back off the crossbar or the keeper there seemed to be no one there for it. My ten year old was shouting to them to pass out out wide, probably because that's what his team's coach was saying to them a few hours earlier
  11. This is Dundee though, we do often "do the Dundee thing".
  12. I thought maybe he wasn't the right player for this game, could have done with someone a bit bigger perhaps It was annoying that the subs weren't even made until so late on, when it was clear nothing was changing as it was.
  13. It wasn't the most fun to watch (unlike the weird sight of Douglas Ross warming up right near us ) but I still don't get the amount of Dundee fans booing their own team at the final whistle. We all wanted them to win, it just gives me the cringe to see the negativity. I've been at matches before when the team were getting called useless c***s before a ball was kicked. Have they no all been watching this pish for decades and expect disappointment? Arbroath shut us down all over the pitch, the like of Cameron had no room at all when he was immediately surrounded. Add that to the random passes to nobody and multiple high balls hoofed around and it wasn't really going anywhere. I saw some better passing from the 10 year olds I watched in the morning... Tory boy was right in front of us a lot of the game, boggles my mind how he turns out for that abuse for fun (and about £500, which he hopefully won't forget to declare again ). It was a braw sunny day though and my wee ones loved being so close to the pitch and getting high 5s from the subs warming up. They weren't as excited as me to see Rab Douglas right in front of us though. Tuesday night is going to be tricky, hope they can pull that one out the bag
  14. I thought we'd manage to make a bit of a c**t of it v Hamilton o Saturday, such is my confidence, so that was a pleasant surprise at least.
  15. Tickets bought here as well. Will be youngest 2s first away game, could be an interesting trip Looking forward to it...I think. (40 several years of 'consistently inconsistent' Dees make me nervous)

  17. Hey all, Nice to see the updates! Baby f_c is now 9months old He is a wee commando crawler, not interested in using the legs if he can get there fast enough like that. We are enjoying him lots
  18. Things are good thanks, have not been on here for ages! (As you may have noticed ) Wee monkey is keeping me plenty busy. Am hoping that this 4 month growth spurt will end sometime... His sleep has been a bit all over the place after his 16 week jabs, almost settled back down now, he refused to go to sleep till after midnight for a week 1.30 am was the record. It doesn't seem that long ago that we were waiting for them to be born!
  19. So far he just cuddles a muslin, and seems to have no idea it's a different one every time he is sick on it etc. He is only 4 months though
  20. Think his bairn is the same age as mine and mine's only 18 weeks 4 month growth spurt for us... all the fun. Guess that's why some people want to wean now. I am happy to wait and keep things simple with just me milk for now! Boy issitting on my knee just now, didn't fancy going to sleep How's things?
  21. Kind of looking forward to this - I am lucky if i can get my breakfast by lunch time some days between feeds and nappies! He is still very unpredictable of course!
  22. Snap, I even had a wee bib on him to catch it there, but he somehow missed! His best puke soaked through his clothes and 3 layers of mine, he usually only does a mini sick though. How are you and your wee man doing? We are getting on fine, feeding going well (mummy only slightly injured ) and he has put on loads of weight so far. Has almost got the hang of sleeping a bit at night. Can't believe he's been here a month!
