  1. Football is the only industry I know that talks down one of its income streams. The cup represents one of the only chances of a significant income boost to clubs. You don't need to win it to make money out of it. There is significant money to be made by getting to the semi finals or even in Thistles case this year an away tie against one of the old firm. An Aberdeen v United tie should have been hyped up and been close to a sell out. Instead the clubs allow talk of more important games. Uniteds next game isn't until the 23rd of February. away to Livingston ffs. Better get your ticket early for that one. I love cup games but they're being badly sold by football.
  2. "Glamour friendlies" announced within a week of a winter break being accepted. Covered by the same TV Companies that will have no Premier League action to show for those 2/3 weeks. All I said was there was nothing wrong with the press comparing the EPL with like for like leagues rather than Scotland. It was actually more of a dig the press in Scotland always comparing us with England. Friendlies in between training in the sun. Hardly comparable with playing competitive games. Right you're all starting to bore me now. Think for yourselves ffs.
  3. Because it makes more sense to look at what benefits your peers and competitors than it does to countries that don't compete with you. Do you think it's coincidence that the biggest leagues in western Europe come from the countries with the biggest populations?
  4. Because it's not about weather , it's about giving the players a break.
  5. To me that seems like sensible journalism. Make comparisons with your peers. Terrible Journalism would be making comparisons with a league from a country with 11 times your population.
  6. As I said it can be done as it was there before. What the photograph doesn't show is that the stand only takes up slightly more than half the area under cover. Despite being the smallest Hampden actually has a bigger footprint than both Murrayfield and Parkhead, even including the area overhanging Janefield street. Personally I would move the Pitch 20 yards closer to the South stand and completely rebuild another 3 double tiered stands close to the pitch and open them to suit the size of the crowd. Money though.
  7. The North Terrace used to be bigger with a stand on top . so not necessarily.
  8. No but it will be up in plenty time for your first Premiership meeting.
  9. Picture this Liam Lindsay hadn't played in the SPFL but had joined Barnsley from another English team but has had the same season he is having now and Strachan picked him for Scotland. What do you think the reaction on here would be?
  10. Sometimes I'm with Paul on this. The following year they won promotion to Division 1. Imagine if they had arrived in Div 1 after being relegated from the Championship.
  11. Funny how the people who are on seats they shouldn't be are always sleeping. I'd have "woken" him out of spite.
  12. It's because if anyone wants to build anything new the locals are out with their pitchforks protesting. See New Aberdeen Stadium, bypass Union street Garden thing etc.
  13. Are you sure according to google there were only! 90000 at the Billy Graham thing.
  14. I used to have a white Cavalier. Funnily enough when I drove that the middle lane hoggers moved over and no one tailgated me when we were in a row of traffic.
  15. Oh well you'll have to walk down the stairs to change at Queen street then . Wait a minute you're from Dennistoun. get a train from Bellgrove 10 minutes you're there.
  16. If you were to build an out of town stadium it would make most sense to have it near the M73 at Baillieston. Plenty space, in the middle of Scotlands population centre. Close to M8, M73 and M74. Rail links direct to Edinburgh, Lanarkshire. Glasgow central and Glasgow Queen street. with the ability to use the current network to run direct footbal specials from any of the Stirling inverness /Aberdeen lines if needed. The X900 bus that runs between Edinburgh and Glasgow every 15 minutes and corpy busses all the time. Its perfect. Plus I could walk to the 2021 cup final.
  17. So to summarize . Your answer to people ridiculing journalists for getting upset about Celtics financial disadvantage v PSG and Bayern when the boot is on the other foot in 95% of their games is it's different because it's the same.
  18. In an ideal world 3 sides of Hampden would be flattened the pitch moved 20 yards nearer the south stand and three new double tiered stands built. close to the pitch. allowing. The 2 tiered stands allow you close any top tiers to suit smaller attendances at semi finals and friendlies. I don't agree with moving internationals around the country as I think this dilutes home advantage. But it's not an ideal world.
  19. Jim Davidson and Jake Ball is trending on twitter. turns out it's 2 different trends and not what I was expecting at all.
  20. Your kidding Corbyn tore May to shreds every week before the last election, but reading the press you would have thought it was the other way about. It wasn't until the election was called and more people actually paid attention and saw for themselves that the perception of Corbyn and May started to change.
  21. Multi tiers would suit better. it means for semi finals for example when the game is not going to sell out you can close the top tier of one or more stands and the ground can still look busy.
  22. Have you tried that anal bleaching they're all into these days.
  23. ffs if you take away the morons on the politics forum you'd have to shut it down.
  24. Could have been me. i 'm a grumpy old c**t who doesn't like loud music.
