Id rather have a permanent keeper other than loan from Rangers. Gerrard looks to be undecided on letting him go just yet. Yes, he might be the next Buffon but I'm hitting the panic button rapidly now for Ayr, I just want a fucking keeper for next week.

From the sounds of things Hare-Reid has done ok in the Friendlies so no need to panic - we will be outscoring these championship diddies anyway

  2. We needed someone for International cover, given Price and Horne will be with Scotland, and despite what some people think, Niko is not the answer at 9 in any game.
Granted we do need cover for international I thought we might go for a cheap option and spend the rest of the budget somewhere else
  3. 9 caps for Oz so should be fairly decent, seems a bit left field given we have good options at 9. Would rather we spent cash on other positions that need first choice strengthened but hopefully he's a good addition

  4. Glasgow have hardly made any signings at all this year, i think its only 2. Pyrgos going is a lose, but having 3 of the top 4 Scottish Scrum halfs at one club is hardly ideal. From a Scotland perspective it makes sense. Is Blair still coaching at Glasgow or is he only doing Scotland now?

It’s in the warriors interest to have it played in Glasgow. It should be their 11th home game of the season.

I wonder if they would consider Hampden / Ibrox / Parkhead for the last game - still in Glasgow so more of a home game, but opportunity for a much bigger crowd than Scotstoun, potential for 25,000 attendance

New season starts today feels like yesterday that magical day, will be interesting to see what Ellis-Reid can do as it looks like he might be the only one we have for the Bet Fred cup, wonder if Harvie will play as he can't have had much of a pre season.

He played over in the Toulon tournie with the u21's, then had about 2 weeks off before signing for us, and assume he has trained all week, so should be OK for today

  7. To be fair thats not to bad a result for Germany. Samoa have been preparing for the play off since they finished bottom of their qualifying group.

Germany finished last in the 6 Nations B and thought their next game was in November against Portugal in the Promotion / Relegation play off to stay in 6 Nations B. All their profesional players (who are contracted to the Wild Academy, which is the reason that Hilderberger have not been allowed to play in the European Challenge Cup next year) had been refusing to play for them all year. Then the whole Spain / Romania / Belgium eligibility row kicks off and its not until early June that German find out they have gone from last to 2nd and are about to face Samoa for a place in the world cup. There was then a lot of meetings to resolve the situation with Wild to allow the best players back in the team  - there were some still missing as they had booked holidays etc so was to be expected - hopefully a more respectable score in the 2nd leg in Germany

  8. If Glasgow were playing in a much bigger stadium the prices would be lower as attendances would be higher. At the moment they know people are wanting tickets, if they have a couple of bad seasons the prices will drop.

Will hastings be the main man at glasgow as of next season?

As far as I can tell its him, Jackson and P Horne as 10's, so should get plenty game time unless they bring anyone else in. I would have added Thompson but dont think Rennie rates him, i thought he looked good when he was on loan to us, but has only been in about 2 squads since Rennie took over.

  10. Just watched the Scotland game, fantastic attacking performance, against an Argie team who have obviously chucked and it being the coaches last game after a horrendous run. Thats the worst Argentina team I can remember seeing ever, but not to take anything away from a great Scottish performance. I think last week we underestimated USA who are vastly improved, but forwards this week dominated, Horne who was great last week stepped up again, Hastings was better and took more responisblity and the 2 ran the show.

I think Hastings just needs a decent run of games at Glasgow as he just needs the experience.

We have definately found some players that will add to the squad and will be pushing to be starters Kinghorn, Bradbury, Horne should all be part of the squad going forward and Carmichael & Ritchie will be there or there abouts

Edit to add thought Brown had a great game in the back row also

I would always choose to have the specialist play the majority of the minutes and the emergency cover only come on in an emergency.

I would tend to agree with you, I was more offering the rationale that will have been used. To be fair I wouldn't have left Fagerson return home early, and given he was one of the better players against the US, would have had him on the bench (as he can play along hte backrow) and played Ritchie, Bradbury and Denton.

Tooney though maybe just wanted to give Brown some more game time as only played about a half vs Canada, and about a half vs USA

    Why not start Ritchie?

my point was slightly tongue in cheek as having 2 hookers on the bench would like quite odd. It is usually better though if you are having someone playing out of position, to have them on from the start to play there way into the role, rather than having to come on as a sub and trying to hit the ground running near the end of the game. Pretty much get the errors out the way early rather than in the last 20 minutes

  13. I was suprised he let Fagerson leave given that Hamilton was out injured leaving us with only 3 back row players, I guess leaving Ritchie on the bench and starting Brown was probably the only option left.

Im hoping Lang gets a run at 10 at some point, also suprissed Bennett didn't get a start

details of the seeding and how the draw works here

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018–19_European_Rugby_Champions_Cup

We will be 2nd Tier, and Embra 3rd

Teams in Tier 1, 2 & 3 must be from a different league (ie one English, one french and one Pro14) so we can only get Cardiff or Ulster from our league.

Worst draw would be Sarries, Toulouse and Toulon, best would be Exeter, Lyon and Cardiff.

I stated earlier that Lyon and Cardiff would be the best choice for 3rd and 4th seed, and if we dont beat them home and away we dont deserve to make the QF's, should come down to bp's or maybe snatching something in the home game vs Sarries to go through. Its a bit cliche but with the change in qualification there are no easy teams in the champions cup anymore, anyone finishing top half of any of the 3 leagues are going to be a quality side - we just need to ensure we are at out best for each game.

  15. Dreadful 30 minutes at the start of the 2nd half. We were 2 busy trying to keep Hastings out of the way that McGinty ripped us a part and looked the best player on the park as he was getting to much space.

Toony definateley underestimating US with his selection, as they were head and shoulders better than Canada last week. Having to bring Brown on the back row for example as only Denton as a replacement wasn't great. Hard to pinpoint the bad & good performances as the mistakes came from everyone in that 2nd half, even Hogg when he ran into Fagerson. Kinghorn has played himself into a squad place (where to play him though!) Turner is getting better, Horne jr was good also, Grigg had a few good runs, but overall its a good workout given 7 players their first starts, and probably the majority of the first choice players are not on the tour

  16. Bit concerned by the lack of pace in the backrow as we usually have 2 more openside type players, and this is more like 3 8's or 3'6's so will be interesting to see. Will be a tougher game than last week and should a good test with 7 players getting their first start.

Interesting to see that Hamilton is without a club, would like to see him at Glasgow as would give our pack a bit of bite

  17. Dont know if its just me, but I prefer to see Crawford in one of the wide roles, rather than in centre mid, where he can look a bit lightweight at times.

I'd rather see 2 solid centre mids like Doc / Bell / Adams / Kerr who aren't as attack minded, and 2 forwards and 2 attacking wide players - Crawford and McDaid if he re-signs hopefully with McGuffie and Forrest as back ups

  18. I thought the younger lads put in some good performances, Lang, Hastings, Carmichael, Bradbury all looked good. Denton again flattered to decieve, loads of ball carrying, but makes no yards.
It's a shame we have 2 good hookers but both are made of chocolate and miss more games than they play. Turner though not really a hooker is a good player and about the park is really good.
For the first game of a tour, with a development side thought it was a decent performance, although the fitness levels of the Canadians was shocking.
2 tougher games to come so hopefully will see a step up in performance next week
