  1. Agreed. Won a lot of fouls and was pretty good tracking back later on despite looking knackered. It seems that Martindale wants a fluid front 3. Provided you keep the ball on the ground as much as possible, it works pretty well. Forrest was threatening on the left and looked even better in the centre when Montano came on and Shinnie shifted to the right. Promising signs if we can start to put away our chances.
  2. Parkes was carrying a knock. Didn't play as well as I have seen him do previously.
  3. Deserved win if a bit shaky at times. Need to start scoring though, it's the opposite extreme from when we went on our ultra clinical unbeaten run...
  4. Is it only a red for denying a goalscoring opportunity it there's no attempt to play the ball? Will stand corrected if so.
  5. Officials have got every big call wrong. Disgraceful decision.
  6. He was poor in the build-up but yeah, looked a shocker. Hibs had 2 claims after that were much more of pen, I think the ref may have given one if he hadn't given the first. McMillan is very good, the only one on the park showing energy. We've had some nice play in the final third but I am concerned at how we look at the back.
  7. Agree with this. I think we are a striker away from being pretty good and that might be Nouble. St Johnstone look in a pretty similar position to us (good squad, lack of cutting edge). St. Mirren probably have enough experience and talent to get over the line but I would categorise them similarly. Could be in bother if McGrath leaves in January. Ross County and Dundee probably have worse squads than the other three but both have players (Adam, Hungbo to name two) that will cause all teams in the league lots of problems. Also think Mackay will do a good job for County and it wouldn't surprise me if both survive. Lots of good posts in the last few pages. I'm in the Martindale In camp but the substitutions and formations in the last few games have had me tearing my hair out. I wish to f**k he would just keep things simple. Yesterday, despite being behind, we were well in the game and still threatening at 0-1. Sibbald went off as he looked tired, fair enough. Why did he feel the need to change the shape and take Forrest (who was excellent) over to the right-wing and completely out the game? Struck me as the desperate actions of a man under pressure and he shouldn't be - we played great for the majority of the game and should have got at least a point. Another thing, our attacking set pieces are absolutely brutal. We should try and play it short every time as we never look like winning the ball in the air.
  8. The difference a good striker and keeper can make... As soon as the shape changed, we were never scoring. Lost all balance and Forrest was completely wasted.
  9. Played in a midfield three a few times, he has some amount of energy. Running around like a mad man.
  10. Great performance so far with some excellent football. Excited to see this team with Nouble up top.
  11. Congratulations to Ross County for their safe passage to the fifth round.
  12. Think the first set of subs killed it for us. Anderson was a lot more useful than Shinnie when he came on. Also wasn't a fan of Pence playing on the right.
  13. lol wut Good game which should be level. We've created the better chances as well, very promising attacking display despite my reservations at 2-0 down. First goal was poor from our perspective, very unlike us not to track a runner in a game like this. Also felt Rangers were getting a lot of joy down our right-hand side, possibly with McMillan pushing too high early on. Long balls over the top seem to be working but we also look good passing it on the deck. Imagine Rangers will change things at half time to combat the long ball threat.
  14. Rangers and Aberdeen are the two teams that generally don't lose their heads when they come to Almondvale. Also we haven't scored against Rangers in 9 attempts. Despite that, feeling relatively positive about this one. Rangers have typically played us at Almondvale (League Cup game aside) when we've not been on a confident run and that's not the case this time. Hopefully can get something from the game and score.
  15. I thought St. Mirren were brutal. Unlucky not to get the penalty at the end but McGrath's goal was your only bit of quality during the roughly 70 minutes I caught. We had a lot of nice play in the final third and should have had more than one goal.
  16. Only one team played any football, a point was the least we deserved.
  17. Probably thinks he's being funny with his "wind-ups". Revisionist history from him as well. Marvin Bartley had just been racially abused and he came onto the thread thinking it was a good time to bring up Bartley threatening a woman for a bit of balance. Horrible poster.
  18. Much better game today. Strollers got what looked a soft penalty very early on which Alieu Faye passed to the keeper. Berwick came into the game more as the half went on and a draw was pretty fair at half time. Strollers went ahead from a long throw with Faye winning a header and someone bundling the ball into the net to take a deserved lead. They then got a stonewall penalty which was also missed before Faye scored the rebound to make it 2-0. Deserved win for CSS. Lots of good players in their team, hopefully they can give Peterhead a game in a few weeks time.
  19. First ever LL game for me yesterday - CSS 0-1 Dalbeattie. Very strong wind largely ruined the game as a spectacle but Strollers still managed to pass it about well for most of the game. Dalbeattie goal came in the first half with the wind behind them. Long ball caught the Strollers keeper in two minds and the Dalbeattie player managed to beat him to the ball before rounding and rolling into an empty net from a tight angle. Strollers had most of the play throughout and tested the opposition keeper more but Dalbeattie defended well, particularly their #5 who was very commanding. Joao Balde for Strollers looks a great player who could manage a step up. A lot of the Strollers players looked good and it's easy to see why they've had such a good season so far. Hoping to get to next Saturday's game against Berwick as well. Enjoyable afternoon despite the conditions.
  20. Not sure if he was injured against Aberdeen in the shootout but he was absolutely hopeless against them. Fair play to him for putting in the hard work as Martindale has said repeatedly.
