  1. Rumours starting to circulate that SOD has signed a pre-contract. Would be some coup that.

    Who

    Stephen O'Donnell

    Best rumour heard in years

Do you not think you would have more success trolling if it was a little more realistic?[emoji23]

    Watch and see, dickhead.

Possibly one of the best conversations I’ve seen on this thread for quite a while.
  2. It says it all that even the Holt ‘defenders’, okay that’s a bit strong. The people who are absolutely insisting Holt has no say on the signings… cannot tell us what Holt does instead of this.

Even if it’s 100% Rennie’s say, I wouldn’t trust Holt to handle a contract negotiation based on his record over the last 12 months.

This is a thread with 1000s of pages. It’s sad so much is devoted to discussion about Holt. That’s because he’s been here too long, and nothing else of any good is worth discussing.

  3. OK ! Approach a proven manager that is available with a track record with a brief to sort out the club from top to bottom.
For example somebody like Neil Lennon won't be cheap but it would be a different direction and he would certainly put a rocket up the arses of the squad and the directors..
As I have posted we are Deja Vu at the moment and doing the same old thing again with whoever we select is most likely going to produce the same result.

Now I can see why you want to keep the manager, if that’s your solution to an alternative. Frightening.
  4. Theres no way people are saying that given a choice to sack Sheerin but only if it meant getting Brian Rice, they wouldnt do it?

    Surely?

Brian Rice has managed professional football teams. We have a manager who quite literally watches the same thing happen every week and goes out again with the same system, same players, same shite. He is incapable of doing..... Anything.

I cant believe what im reading if folk wouldnt snap your arm off to get Rice in now. If Sheerin gets the season, we are reliant on others being worse to prevent relegation.

So we should snap your arm off to get a manager, because… he’s been a manager before? I know we are at a low ebb but that criteria alone is dangerous.

Like Shadwell, I don’t think he’s solely to blame for what happened at Hamilton, but has done nothing there to suggest to me it would be a success.

If he wasn’t ex Falkirk, nobody would mention him.

And before you ask, no, I’ve not got an alternative at the moment, but like the vast majority, want Sheerin and Holt out.

We’ve tried experienced and inexperienced managers in the last 4 years, none of which have worked. However, going off previous League One winners recently in McCall, McGlynn, Campbell, may suggest a rookie isn’t what we need, but who knows?
  5. We started the second half very well. Should have went in front when we were on top but it fizzled out into a half where it was us just trying to break them down. We literally only had to defend one real attack second half and still couldn’t do it. Dixon wasn’t great today but Ben Hall is, by some considerable distance, the worst defender at the club. Its clear as day that we are only delaying the inevitable by keeping Sheerin any longer as his sacking will come at some point. However, Holt must go for his terrible recruitment.

Ben Hall is poor, no denying that, but he’s still better than 3 year deal Brad McKay. Other than that, spot on.
  6. This is going to be an absolute doing. What we would give for someone like John McGlynn as manager. Credit to him for changing his style of play from his previous Raith tenure.

Connolly appears to be in the goals recently, how has he been for you? Must admit I was surprised he ended up in the Championship.

  7. What was the script with Aiden Connelly at Falkirk was he punted due to his poor fitness / injuries was he offered a new contract ? Because he has been brilliant at the Rovers scoring some excellent goals and probably does the most running in our squad during 90 mins a bit like the Aiden we had previously under Ray McKinnon. A few also mentioning McManus he was absolute dug meat with the Pars in the games I seen versus us it’s like he’s went back the way from the player that played with Falkirk in the 1st division maybe a bullet dodged there especially if you were offering good wages who knows.

Connelly barely completed a 90 minute game for us last season, had been decent prior to that but was surprised a team who finished second in the Championship signed him. Injuries/fitness seemed to be an issue.

McManus was brilliant for us but there’s always been the question whether he can make the leap from League One to the Championship. Seems to be doing well in the Welsh league but I’ve no idea what level that is in comparison to Scotland. Pretty sure most fans would take him back if the option was there.
  8. This is the mindset of the support and its fair considering the last 3 seasons. But it is the reason that potential signings will have been put off.
Near mutinous support with no patience at a club with a bad track record in player and manager turnover.
Not only must the next game be won but it must be done in style.
If the support is lost then its all over for the season.

Just out of interest, if they don’t want to come to us because of that, what clubs do these players end up at?
  9. Can’t disagree with you on any of that bar you resurrecting the ghost of the last three seasons of “we need to get 9 games done before we can make any sort of sensible judgement” followed by “we need to get 18 games done before we can make any sort of sensible judgement”. That’s what hope plus promises of “jam tomorrow” has conditioned us into thinking.
I said at the start of the season that the first 6 games would tell us a lot. My opinion was that a FFC truly equipped and focused on getting out of this league with no more messing about should have a very achievable target of 14 points over those six games with 12 points as a minimum.
Anything less than 12 points would give cause for concern. I have cause for concern. Of the current top 5 clubs in the league, (excluding ourselves obviously), we have played two of the other four, and taken 1 point. We play a third on Saturday, and let’s not mess about, we simply must win……a defeat will see all confidence drain down the plug hole faster than you can say “season 20/21”.
A win would get us kind of back on track, and again, has to be followed up by solid wins against Peterhead and East Fife. We need to get our act together now, not next week or next month.

Nah that’s fair and perhaps badly worded by me. 6 games is enough to tell us our strengths and weaknesses, and what we need to do.

9 games/a quarter perhaps more about the league overall, rather than just us.

Be interesting to see if/when Morrison and Williamson come back in what that adds, but who knows when that will be.
