  1. Murray from Airdrie would be the best available if he fails to get them up, we’ll cheap out and appoint Berra or possibly just give it to Goodwillie as he’s no playing. FWIW I’m not convinced Falkirk and McGlynn will work as I’m not sure your fans will give him (or anyone else) the time to turn you around, it’ll probably need two seasons especially if Pars are down there.

Unlike the last few managers we’ve had, he has experience of managing in this league and achieved something at this level.

Rennie was a curveball from the states when our season was pretty much already done, Sheerin a youth coach and his only success in management, had Stewart Petrie as his assistant, and then Miller and McCracken are now a barber and an estate agent respectively.

Think that will give him a bit more slack to start with, but unlike the others, he seems to know what he’s doing.
  2. Why? This should be a fresh start. Absolutely no reason why he should explain his reasoning for decisions made in previous employment.
Let it be consigned to the past ffs.

Agree with this, plus he has already came out

Would be happy with him or Murray all things considered. Finally appear to not be going for an ‘experiment’ and a manager who’s had the most pedigree since Hartley.
  3. I really wish that posters stopped just making up posts and implied "inside knowledge " Okay it does build up a bit of controversy but come on. We are a group of 30 or 40 fans who love our club but have little idea about the new machine ( apart from BPM probably) and I think people think of likely targets and get a wee bit ahead of themselves. Please stop

For the final time and I don’t know how many times SD has told you, that’s what forums are for. Speculation, rumours, wishes, they’re all in the mix. If you look at our case there are only a few possibilities and it’s therefore only natural that those names get brought up.
To the best of my knowledge, there have been no leaks from the board. That’s all that I can say but maybe others know different.

  4. Two echoing thoughts that keep coming up that I’d rather we stopped talking about.

    1. Raith only won the league by default. They were better than us. M&Ms disastrous defensive performance at Starks Park a symbol of that season. Too defensive, never beat Raith the full season up to that point either. It’s an injustice we didn’t get the chance at playoffs, but Raith were the better team that year.

    2. That Fckin Neil Harris video. Posted 3 times now.

  5. In ten hours till we finish another disastrous season in the depths of Scottish football.
Watched some of the RR game last night, thought it was half decent, but frightening & embarrassing that I’d take (RR) starting eleven over anyone we have at the club, maybe barring one or two.

Absolutely critical that the board get the new manager spot on. To the players who have cheated the supporters of this club, if you have any morals, leave the jerseys on you’re way out…….

What’s frightening and embarrassing about a team who’s finished 10 places higher than us in the pyramid having a better team, and individuals than us? Hyperbole at its finest.
  6. It shows you what can happen when you have a decent manager who recruits well and builds a stuffy side who all know their jobs. It's water under the bridge now, but, like Kilmarnock, we also kept a Premiership level budget in our first season back down in 2010/11. However, in total opposite style to Kilmarnock, we made the decision to keep on serial fucking loser Pressley who spunked the budget on folk like Burton O'Brien, Carl Finnigan, Ross Perry, Medhi Khalis, and a done Pedro Moutinho. We finished 12 points behind an absolutely minging Pars team who got swiftly punted back down the following year. To say we've been criminally mismanaged for well over a decade is a massive understatement.

Not Pressleys biggest fan but he was lumped with O’Brien and his astronomical wages whilst still under contract.

Doesn’t mean we couldn’t have done more in our first season down, reckon we still had loser mentality from the season before that we weren’t able to shift.
  7. I agree that Wright/Craig is the standout option.  Not sure Wright would be out of out reach, he's not getting any younger and has been without a club for a while.  He might see turning us around as the catalyst towards one final bigger job before he retires.

Not excited whatsoever by McGlynn.  He's done ok at Raith but, like Hartley, there's something about him and the way he operates I just don't like.  I think he'd be divisive and someone the fans would turn on quickly if he made a slow start.  The appointment needs to be someone who the support can fully get behind.  For me that's Wright or Rice.

Interesting you don’t want McGlynn, who’s won this league before with a similar sized club in a similar position, because it could be divisive. Want someone who the support get fully behind, and suggest Rice, albeit fans would want him to do well, has been a divisive choice on this thread in particular since his name was first mentioned.

I don’t care if they’re the biggest Dunfermline fan in the planet, if they’re the best candidate and can get us promoted, that’s all that matters for me.

No more experiments, a proven track record of winning something a nice to have and knowing the division an absolute must.
  8. Yeah just ignore and move on.

I hope the Rennie rumour is a load of rubbish.

    No more DOF
    No more Rennie

Just get an experienced manager who can recruit, organise and motivate. We obviously won’t get one who’s perfect at all 3, but it’s really not that difficult. Why do we have to over complicate everything?

  9. This is Rennie talking about Mills and Watson - I genuinely don’t know what game he watches.

Rennie added: “They’ve complimented each other very well and the backline were looking much more secure than when I first came into the job.

"But we’ve now lost our first choice pairing with Jevon unfortunately heading back down to his parent club and I’d be surprised to see him back here this season.

We’ve only had a few games of Mills and Watson in a back 4.

Clyde 1-1 Falkirk, conceding that stupid last minute goal.

    Falkirk 3-1 East Fife.

    Dumbarton 0-2 Falkirk.

The other times they’ve played together have either been in the back 3/5, or that Airdrie humping when Rennie inexplicably played Mills as a holding midfielder with Brad McKay alongside Watson.

They’ve not played the best opposition in those games, and would have been nice to have a better sample size to see what that would have been like against Cove, Airdrie, Montrose, Queens Park. What we do know is whenever McKay, Dixon, ATS have been at the back it’s been a bomb scare.

We’ll never know, and I don’t want Rennie here next season whatsoever, but I kinda see his point on this one.

  10. As an aside did anyone watch Sportscene last night? They kept saying about how McGinn should have went down to win a penalty but it’s not in his locker as he’s so honest. Now I love McGinn for Scotland but I distinctly remember him throwing himself to the ground against us and winning a penalty in 2016. Not in his locker….aye right!

That had totally slipped my mind until you brought it up. One of the worst decisions I have ever seen.

Must admit reading the last couple of pages has been a nice pleasant surprise. Memories that last a lifetime.
  11. Controversial suggestion alert.

John McGlynn out of contract in the summer. You’d imagine if Raith were going to keep him, they’d have gave him a new contract by now.

Would be much better than Rennie from a footballing perspective, would the club/fans be okay with him after the DG disaster?

  12. Funnily enough, away to Falkirk is one of the games I dread the most in terms of slipping up. Don't know why, but I just always feel they've a big performance in them If their team could be arsed enough to try a leg.
Hope I am wrong though. Would be great to get to the next run of games after this and still be at only 5 points off Cove at most. They have a tricky run coming up.

You’re wrong. We can’t beat anyone who are higher in the league or slightly better than us. And Airdrie are much better than us. If you don’t turn up you’ll get a draw. If you turn up you’ll win.
  13. Just didn’t get the rub of the green today. I thought Rennie and the boys were excellent throughout and could/should have won the game. Some of Holts signings still holding us back I’m afraid but definitely a point gained and a game that Sheerin would have left empty handed. Onto next week. COYB.

Agree mate too many people like Springfield being too negative, that’ll get us nowhere. We can still do it, COYB.
  14. Are Falkirk fans serious?
Rennie gets what, 10 games, a January window, and 3 months and they're already discussing replacing him?
It constantly amazes me your fanbase doesn't understand that hounding everyone who comes in if they don't instantly hit the ground running, players and managers, is playing a part in your current position. Honestly feels like theres folk who think you just need to hire a manager and you'll turn into an outfit who can play great football and cruise back through the divisions overnight.

Get back to us once you’ve watched every game from us over the past four seasons [emoji106]
  15. He has more talent than anyone in this league but has the heart of a mouse unfortunately and that's why he's playing for a side midtable in league one.

Dylan Easton is the most technically talented player in this league, streets ahead of Telfer.

Agree with Ted Crilly, Telfer is being overestimated in what he’s capable of. There’s a reason he’s at us, in mid table at League One.
  16. The best sides aren't shite in the first half all the time.

I’d need to get a more up to date sample. However up to 9th January 2022:

    - 80% of Cove Rangers goals scored had came in the second half
    - 48% of Cove Rangers goals scored had came in from 75 minutes onwards

They’re quite clearly the best side in the league, and even they don’t do their best work until the second half.

I’m sure it’s not a deliberate ploy by Hartley, but that’s how it works out the vast majority of football games. Granted I’ve not watched all their games to know their performance level, but imagine many have similar half time results to ours against Alloa.
  17. One thing I have to question however, is that at the start of the second half we had the same players in the same positions but seemed to be a lot better - why didn't we start the game that way?

One of the most successful Falkirk teams in the last 10 years were notoriously slow starters. Second half Houston would send a rocket up their arse and that 2015/2016 team did okay.

Now you wouldn’t want to rely on that long term, but sometimes that’s just how games work out.
