Cannae see us dropping 800,000 Euro on a single player, like.
Mark Donaldson said the bid is nowhere near that figure.

Yeah. Either way, it read like an invite for more bids.
Always is when it gets leaked from the selling club's end.
Whether it comes off or not, it's another interesting move. It would be the third time we've paid a fee for an overseas player since the summer.

I saw the other tweet too. French based site for JL fans, I think. That tweet read a bit like a flag to attract other bids.
They were just tweeting a link to the original Japanese article.

Donkey Donaldson is usually quite reliable, is he not?
He's pally with Neilson. It's also been reported in Japan and there have been rumours about a Japanese player for weeks so there's clearly something in it. Seems that his current club are keen to hold on to him though.

First half was very good and the game should have been done by half-time. The front three were very good, particularly Woodburn who had his best game for us.
The second half was sloppy as f**k but we still probably looked more likely to add a third than concede. The last 20/25 minutes after County pulled one back were excruciating and we'd lost control of the game by that point. I don't think they created many clear chances in that time but the wide players were a constant threat and we couldn't make it stick up front.
Massive win considering Aberdeen, Motherwell and Hibs also won, especially with a depleted squad. The winter break probably comes at a good time for us.

Very happy to be proven wrong but that line-up looks like an overthought mess. I count at least 5 players not playing in their primary positions (not even counting Halliday at LWB). 6 defenders, 1 defensive midfielder and a front 3 composed of a central midfielder, an attacking midfielder and a winger who have scored a combined total of 3 goals this season (all in the same game).
I've definitely been proven wrong so far. We should be further ahead.

I get that we're missing a bunch of players, but here's an example of a team we could have played with the same set of players and no-one out of position:
Gordon
Smith Souttar Halkett Cochrane
Haring McEneff
McKay Walker GMS/Woodburn
Gnanduillet

I knew Ross County had turned the corner a bit but didn't realise quite how good their form has been. They've only lost to Celtic (97th minute winner) and Rangers at Ibrox since October so I won't be taking a win for granted given the players we'll be missing.
On the team selection, I think Moore struggled with Charles-Cook when he played right-back in Dingwall and he got embarrassingly roasted by Kent a couple of weeks back, so as much as it might be an unpopular opinion, I'm hoping Smith is fit and will come into a back four.

My friend, if you don’t think brushing your teeth is in your own self-interest then please keep your reeking breath away from me
Factual statement: "I do it because it's in my own interest."
Weird statement: "I do it out of self-interest."
Word salad: "I do it because it's in my own self-interest."
HTH.

Your argument relies on the idea that self-interest is not the same as common interest. Often, the two are exactly the same. In fact, for something to become a common interest with other clubs, it would first have to be self-interest.
Definition of self-interest: "one's personal interest or advantage, especially when pursued without regard for others."
There's no lack of regard for others in wanting fans back, but there is in preventing that possibility purely to gain a sporting advantage.
Me brushing my teeth this morning clearly benefited me, but no-one would call that "self-interest" unless they were a lunatic. There's a reason the term exists and that it has negative connotations.

The reason clubs want fans in is for their financial situation. If it didn’t make any difference to their bottom line, they wouldn’t care (except the fan owned clubs).
That’s self-interest.
This doesn't address my argument at all.
Self-interest implies a lack of regard for others. There is no lack of regard for others in wanting restrictions lifted because it benefits everyone. That's how football clubs make their money. It's a common interest.
Rangers want a sporting advantage at the expense of others. That is self-interest.

Yup. We’ll vote for our own self-interest, same as every other club will.
"Self-interest" implies a lack of regard for others. If the motivation is wanting to play matches with fans then that isn't self-interest, it's a common interest shared by every club. Seeking to gain a sporting advantage at the expense of others is self-interest.

Again clubs are going about it the wrong way if there argument is solely based on crowds as an early winter break does not guarantee crowds after we return and it being all rainbows and sunshine
what the clubs need is the SPFL to show some initiative and question the government to provide what they think the next few months are going to look like in regards to crowd sizes and also demand funding required to deal with restricted crowds
If the government say that the restrictions aren’t likely to change after 3 weeks then moving the winter break is completely pointless exercise which will only lead to petty squabbling and infighting amongst the clubs like last time
There's no guarantee that fans will be allowed in in 3 weeks, but there is a guarantee that they won't be in the current schedule.
If moving the break is feasible it would give more time for your proposed lobbying of the government while allowing the possibility of restrictions being lifted in the meantime.
Let's be honest, the reason Rangers and their fans are against this is because they're too shitebag to play Celtic with fans and with Jota.

He seems to be highly rated going by bits and pieces on Twitter, perhaps even more so than Devlin. It also sounds as though he'll slot right into what is currently our weakest position in the 3-4-3.
Regardless of how it turns out, it's nice that we're now consistently making signings that make sense.

Sorry, don't follow - The artist who produced a lot of monochrome optical illusion pieces? Staircase to nowhere etc?
I think Moore does well as a RWB in all honesty, and when he and Cochrane are our WBs in a 3-4-3, we control the midfield well, because they find space, make themselves available, and join in with the central midfielders. I think we will play a 3-4-3, whether it's my preference or not. Anyway, I should probably reiterate that this isn't my preferred team, it's what I think/thought Neilson will/would play, if the injury situation is what it looked like being at time of posting.
If Boyce is fit, then happy days, get him straight back in the team.
The team was listed from back to front vertically but left to right horizontally. Just reminded me of that stairs picture.
I don't think we've got a proper RWB really. Moore doesn't offer creativity or goal threat in that position and Halliday on the other side just isn't very good. In a home game where we're expected to be on the front foot I think it's a waste to play them when we could play an extra attacker.
FWIW I also think it'll be 3-4-3.

My guess at our starting eleven:
Gordon
Cochrane - Souttar - Halkett
Halliday - McEneff - Haring - Moore
McKay - Ginelly - Walker
Is MC Escher picking the team?
Anyway, I really think if you're having to use Moore and Halliday at wing-back the 3-4-3 is not really a great option, particularly at home against a team near the bottom.
I'm not convinced Walker can play from the start but we need more goals from the forwards and he's earned his place for this one.
Assuming Kingsley is out:
Gordon
Smith* Souttar Halkett Cochrane
McEneff Haring
Ginnelly Walker McKay
Boyce**
*Moore if not fit
** Gnanduillet if not fit

He wasn't, Collum blew for a foul on the Hearts player who currently has the ball in your image. As Hearts had a free kick on that spot when he pulled play back.
I watched it on the stream so I knew it was pulled back for a Hearts free-kick (also an awful decision) but both the Dundee commentators and Sportscene mentioned that the linesman had his flag up for offside.

Dry your eyes pal, it's a man's game and we're fighting for our lives with an injury ravaged championship level squad. At least Anderson has put everyone on notice that he intends to go down swinging if need be. Dee fans and young Max will take your 'benefit of the doubt' and file it straight into the rubbish file with the rest of the roaster Hearts fans general thoughts about ... well anything really.
"Spam folder" was right there.

Pleasing win which I didn't really see coming before we scored (not a fog joke) but which was never in doubt thereafter.
I'd imagine there'll be second thoughts about binning Walker now and we'll maybe get to see the usual Jamie Walker cycle play out for the rest of the season. Scores off the bench > starts the next game > does f**k all > gets benched again > scores off the bench, etc.

Stating the obvious, but if Halkett is injured long term and Souttar leaves then we're in real trouble without a really good replacement. We've not seen much of Moore at CH and we've looked alarmingly ropey when Halkett hasn't been available, especially considering how bad he was in his first 18 months/2 years.
I wonder if it'd be more economical to keep Souttar until the summer rather than accepting a sub-£1m bid and risk chucking 3rd.
