  1. There was never any chance we'd be signing him. Just a lazy piece of journalism. Under some of our previous managers, signing an unfit has-been might have been seen as a good idea, but we've moved on. He'll be signing for Queens Park - here's a picture of him in his new strip: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Prisoner-Convict-Robber-Burglar-Costume/dp/B00JQ3T0TY/ref=asc_df_B00JQ3T0TY/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309990544451&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11164598138620191158&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007320&hvtargid=pla-540938479885&psc=1
  2. Same conclusion from the game against Partick a couple of weeks ago. We were doing well with Mcgrattan on & the performance dropped as soon as he was replaced by Kabia.
  3. You don't need to "shore up" the car park embankment - I assume you mean a retaining wall. Just dig out material & move the slope of the embankment over a bit. Not terribly expensive to do that, but tbh i think any significant investment in the ground would need to lead to increased income of there's no point. Putting a roof over the WDE is probably the cheapest option (not necessarily the old Love St one which I suspect may have suffered a lot of corrosion over the years, if it hasn't been chopped up and sold for scrap). Wouldn't be too difficult to fit seats to the existing bench seating although it's many years since I was in the WDE so no idea what sort of condition the terracing is in.
  4. The problem with that is that the Sinclair Street end tapers in depth so doesn't really lend itself to a decent stand. The answer might be to get Sinclair Street diverted so that it runs parallel with the Sinclair St boundary wall, with the realignment bringing the road back to meet the main road as the existing junction. That idea was actually discussed several years ago during Warren Hawke's time as CEO but it never got anywhere. Idea was to accommodate facilities in the new stand and even possibly have direct access from the car park via a footbridge. Would have been nice but the cost would almost certainly kill off such an idea.
  5. Apart from Lithgow, I don't think we currently have any players that I would consider we absolutely need to get rid of. Hynes probably. A year or so ago I'd have said Blues, but he's improved a lot under Dougie and his runs into the box seem to produce results - maybe controversial but i think he currently merits his pace in the starting line up.
  6. Was it also our biggest game for years last season when we beat Maryhill? You really do have delusions of grandeur. You're a below-average championship outfit, not even the third biggest team in Glasgow any more. (Yes, I know QP are playing in Larbert at the moment, but you get my point).
  7. I think if Imrie goes anywhere (and he's going nowhere any time soon), it won't be to a club in the third tier, which seems to be where you're heading on current form.
  8. The ref was pretty poor - I'm not suggesting any bias or anything like that, but he did seem to get a fairly large number of decisions wrong. fortunately it didn't affect the result, which was probably fair. Good day out, very nice lunch in an Italian restaurant at Wellington Square, easy to get parked, an old fashioned proper ground. Other than my daughter on her first ever visit to Somerset Park not being able to get a cup of tea from that wee tent masquerading as a catering outlet - and to be fair he gave her a free soft drink instead - it was a great day out. I quite like Ayr as a town, apart from all the Tories of course.
  9. I'm hearing our groundsman Mark Farrell, custodian of one of the best playing surfaces in Scotland, is currently repainting the touchlines a couple of metres further in just to annoy that bunch of latte-drinking chartered accountants.
  10. If that was the incident in the second half when Baird was chasing back, it wasn't a penalty - Baird got a touch on the ball to put it out. Was right in front of me. Scary moment but he managed to get the tackle in without fouling the Ayr player. I was impressed with the pace at which Ayr counter-attack. They are a decent team. I'd love to have Andy Murdoch back at Cappielow. As someone else said, put him and the big striker in our team and we'd be a decent bet for the title.
  11. Cheers. Will go for the Railway end as we always used to stand in that area round the corner.
  12. Does the railway end option for away fans still include that wee length round the corner in front of where the burger van used to be? And is your west stand fit for humans with legs (unlike the stand at Cappielow)?
  13. Going to travel up for this one. We have been terrific recently and Ayr seem to have put together a decent team even though they have McGinty. No idea how this one will turn out although in the first game our inability to take chances cost us. I think with McGrattan in the team deservedly and Blues doing a sterling job pushing forward, we could well see goals coming from our midfield, and that's before allowing for Muirhead's improvement since moving into the middle. I'm hoping our resurgence continues but even a point wouldn't be too bad a result. Probably be a 0-0 snorefest now. 60 years of following the Ton ensures don't get carried away with any success.
  14. Is Sandy f**k In Cromarty some sort of trendy cocktail, an Inverness version of Sex On the Beach?
  15. I think you're probably more Derry Girls than Derry rule...
  16. It was slightly tongue in cheek, but I appreciate that you struggle with humour.
  17. Maybe I'm just wanting a better standard of a game but no matter what team it is I'm not seeing that as a penalty. Its contact sport. Just because you get a slight hand on you doesn't mean it's a foul and doesn't force you to ground. The defender shoved him. It's a penalty. Quitongo was past him and about to shoot. Why would he dive rather than just put the chance away, given that diving tends to lead to a booking, of which Quitongo already has a fair collection? I could see someone diving if they weren't in a position to shoot, but not when he was right through on goal. Always good to see that quisling bawbag Gordon Brown's day spoiled so extra kudos to Gillespie for tucking the penalty away so accurately. that and the seethe from the away fans. What a great evening we had after that.
  18. What utter nonsense. There is one tune that is the same (but with different words) as a Rangers ditty, but "full Rangers songbook"? Get tae f**k, you pinstripe-suited chartered accountant. Is there not a rugger game you should be at tonight?
  19. That game was appalling for quality of football. Not as bad as the referee though. I couldn't really see what happened with Jai but by all accounts it was nothing to merit a straight red. As for Baird's red, it looked just like a tackle, something we seemed reluctant to put in all game, but maybe was a foul. Certainly was a surprise to see a red card. The Ayr guy was I think 2 yellows so maybe not as contentious. I reckon Napier flashed that red card because he knows Jai is a physical player and Napier was just looking for a way to make himself the centre of attention. shocking performance all round and he should be demoted to the juniors immediately. Best bit of the night was Mcginty's penalty being saved. GIRFUY you lanky beanpole. Can't wait to see our team for the next round. We have almost run out of centrebacks now i think - maybe Imrie will reprise the Strapp at CB strategy...
  20. Sorry, that last bit should say turn LEFT at Sinclair Street. - i.e . the next set of lights just a short distance from the marina road.
  21. The road down to the marina - if approaching from the east, turn right at the traffic lights just before Cappielow and you can park on the road or the area near the roundabout at the end of the road. If you turn right at Sinclair Street instead you can park in the official car park - think it's £3.
  22. Alex King has been playing well when starting at LB. think we'd be better with Strapp with King pushed forward a bit, but it's good that we have genuine competition for places. King looks like a player.
  23. Away fans should get the end of the Cowshed. Makes for a better atmosphere, gives them a roof over their heads which the WDE doesn't, and for those who need to sit, that would leave more room in the main stand, probably enough to let everyone put their feet over on to the seat in front. I fail to see what additional costs would be incurred with that arrangement, and the cost would probably be more than covered by making the match experience more attractive to away fans. How many £22s does it take to pay for 1 more steward if that is even needed?
