  1. It's pricey in Australia if you're converting pounds to AUD, so you probably want to get a job pretty quickly. By all accounts, some of the farm work is akin to slave labour so be careful if you do any. Melbs is a great city though, you'll have a lot of fun there!
  2. Nice town Port Fairy. Worth visiting Tower Hill just outside of it, a great chance to see native wildlife, including snakes (relatively safely) !
  3. 2 defensive howlers by the Aussie's. Otherwise they were much the better team.
  4. St Kilda is a bit of a backpacker hole. North of the river is more hipster and better for a night out, especially Fitzroy. Carlton, Brunswick and Richmond are fun too with fantastic food options. Definitely the best city in Australia by a mile! Oh, and Ramsey Street is doable by tram (or an official tour)!
  5. The addition of the panel has been bad. I'll give it a few more weeks but it's ruined whatnwasna great podcast.
  6. Gave the first couple of episodes of the Totally Scottish Football show a listen... They need to find some decent pundits quickly. The non OF ones were bearable but the Celtic and especially the Rangers fan sounded like barely coherent ned's. In fact they seemed to resemble the Only an Excuse old firm stereotypes. 'Barca Jim' for his sake. Is it really that hard to find a Scottish pundit who can speak intelligently and thoughtfully about the game and doesn't sound like they've had a lungful of helium? The Terrace is way better at the moment.
  7. You might have bent the derailleur hanger. There's plenty of videos online to help diagnose this. I had something similar where the derailleur chainrings were very worn causing the chain to rattle and skip off. Check to see if this is causing it. Replacements can be bought cheaply and are pretty easy to replace.
  8. Durano Plus are another good choice for puncture resistance.
  9. One where something happens. Froome strong again but age perhaps catching up with him as he didn't look explosive on the climbs as in the past. Bardet ultimately disappointing as he just wasn't strong enough for a sustained attack. Every other GC rider was poor and nowhere near Froome's level. Interesting if the organisers will make a Bardet friendly course next year too or try and tempt Doumalin with a longer TT. He might be the only one to beat Froome.
  10. If you find you're climbing ok with the 28 then I'd stick with that. The 32 will help you out on the double figure gradients though, that's for sure
  11. Not sure where you get the great atmosphere from, Stair Park is usually louder! I watched the last quarter, nice result for the Bulldogs.
  12. I slipped on a wooden bridge today, luckily at low speed. First thought is always 'is the bike ok?' Graze on my knee is the only damage thankfully.
  13. Use plastic tyre levers gently to take the tyre off. Try and put the tyre back on using your hands only. That can be tough depending on the tyre make. Make sure the tyre is seated on the rim properly too and not catching the tube.
  14. You can't go fast in a group on the a77 path, plus it can be busy. That's why they use the road - its quiet enough anyway.
  15. A road bike will make a difference to your speed - they're lighter and your position is more aerodynamic. They can handle cyclepaths no problem, but watch out for potholes as it's easy to pinchflat your tyre on them.
  16. Couple of helicopters flying around Melbourne towing banners winding up the English. Losts balls etc.
  17. Why would anyone go to Adelaide?
  18. I thought Froome was excellent in the past couple of stages, just not quite on Contadors level. At least he had a go unlike the two wheelsuckers, Valverde and Purito.
  19. Last time I did it there were a few folk on hybrids so it can be done. They got dropped on the descents though! I would say spare tube, tyre levers and mini pump and know how to use them. Punctures are a matter of when, not if. They always happen on the way to work as well...
  20. Just take something to eat like a bannana and flapjack - and try to eat before your belly starts rumbling!
  21. The pfs sportive is a fun route, I'd recommend it.
  22. It'll most likely be GPS drift, especially if using the Strava smartphone apps.
