  1. When you consoider that a winning team begets a winning team, therefore winning the traditional early season League Cup tie should be important as it can get players confident and into form. There's not a finite amount of win somewhere that we need to preserve lest we use it all up in cup games and have none left for the league.
  2. I'm not panicking, I'm stating that I have concerns or reservations. Re: the League Cup scheduling, I agree that it's too early and devalues the competition, but the clubs knew when it was starting and should be making pre-season arrangements accordingly. If every club were treating it as a glorified kick about then every game would go to penalties. Clearly there are other clubs taking this competition seriously, yet they all had to start at the same time as us.
  3. I can't condone fucking about in competitive matches under any manager. If there's points, entry to the next round or prize money on offer then it should always be the strongest available team, with, crucially, players playing in their proper positions.
  4. I don't dispute that the main players are stronger, in fact I agree, if you look back in this very thread you'll see me stating my happiness with the signings and even my agreeability to running a "quality over quantity" squad this season. I still have doubts however about Aitken's ability to get the best out of the team and playing strikers at centre half and the likes does nothing to assuage me of those doubts. As for being notoriously shite in the League Cup, that shouldn't be a factor as the club's record in that competition is under a wide variety of different managers. Only results under Aitken are relevant to Aitken's tenure and not taking it seriously or using it as a series of pre-season fixtures is simply robbing the club of the potential to progress in the competition and robbing the fans who've paid their coin to watch competitive football games.
  5. It's an on-going thing though (at least for me it is) as it is a continuation of concerns from last season which don't appear to have been addressed.
  6. Just because you're not concerned, doesn't me no-one else can't be.
  7. Does it not just "feel" a bit wrong to you? Not enough players, poor early season performances / results, not seeming to know his strongest XI or best formation (particularly weird since he's worked with a lot of these players before with us and with Stranraer), nor the best positions for his players, getting his excuses in early, hopeless away from home for a whole year etc. not to mention the cutting of the budget and the scrapping of the U20s. I can't speak for anyone else, but it feels to me like this season is going to be a straightforward shitshow. I'm not particularly convinced that Aitken fully knows what he's doing. All in my humble obviously.
  8. We only signed him as third choice cover mate.
  9. Is it his hair that you like, or his free-kick ability?
  10. Ironically enough, going to Iran nowadays to get into beer would probably be a bad idea.
  11. You thought beer was European? Beer, that originates from what is now modern day North Africa and Middle East? That beer?
  12. The Queen of the South fans presumably sleuthed out a contract issue with him and then posted loads on the Ayr thread I'd guess.
  13. There's always the chance that a tribunal could rate him much higher. It happened when some faceless jobber left Falkirk for some English lower league non-entity. The English side ended up having to pay something like £125k. Seems to me, that the already piss thin Sons squad will need another new striker...
  14. As Scotland's original champions (2 in a row!) and an established "big team" (Victorian era ftw) I fully anticipate and expect that the SPFL board will rule in Sons' favour. These southern upstarts need to learn their place. Come back when you've won the top flight and the Scottish Cup. That applies to Queen of the South as well.
  15. Likewise I'm still not getting notifications. After the site upgrade I stopped getting them on the app, so deleted and reinstalled as it had been updated and still no notifications, and now I've updated it to this 5.02 version there are still none. Have checked all relevant settings.
  16. Bet your neighbours love you, ya fucking grass.
  17. Might have a positive influence for Dunfermline if he can be bothered. If he can't he'll just be a total passenger.
  18. There's another one! Like southern moths to a flame.
  19. Higgy's success or failure will hinge entirely upon whether he can be arsed. He's just that type of player. Re: finance, I dunno. *shrugs*
  20. Clearly Josh Todd, like the Pie & Bovril Queen of the South supporters, was simply unable to resist the lure of the only show in town.
  21. Higginbotham has dropped into the seaside leagues. One year deal with the Pars.
  22. It certainly seems that the Sons have these southern luvvies all in a tizzy, weirder still that it isn't even concerning their club. Dumbarton FC - the only show in town.
