A fair few digs from saints here even getting one in about the paper tickets.

Queuing to pick up a paper ticket, that I've already paid for, for a game that's likely not on.

Fair enough. Looks class
Ssshhh. No ones to know.
Gallacher on at LM is interesting. At least, we've kept shape and somewhat competitive; beginning to tire now though.
Frustrating that didn't look threatened until that 5 minute period. At least we've rested some players.

Pretty routine win that and nice to see the midfield beginning to express themselves. We all know Smith, Phillips, Sprangler, Kucheravyi and Carey are good technically but the fitness slowly getting to where it should be is giving them so much confidence. If we can now just get a decent striker in...
I was chatting about this at half time today but that strength in centre midfield is the reason I've felt we'd be fine this season. It's means we are always able to compete (and even under MacLean we were mainly competitive) in a way we couldn't with midfields of Butterfield, MacPherson etc.
Best we've played this season. Thought the approach was perfect; no room behind for Youen or Boyle but pressure on the ball at the right times. Great shifts from Max, Carey and Smith without the ball and thought Phillips was excellent and is beginning to show a lot more maturity. Obviously still lacking in the last third but that can be addressed in January. Gallacher and Max are improving with their game time and hope Fran gets a chance now to do the same.
The sending off looked harsh at first glance so wasn't surprised to see it over turned.

Why is Jephcott not young enough to come good at only 23 years old?
Fair point hes not much older than olufunwa and I obviously hope he does. He's looked miles off it though which is disappointing as on paper he looked like one of the better signings in the summer.

The one thing you'd definitely have to give to MacLean is the best window in a couple of years.
With the exception of Jephcott, all of the permanent signings have impressed or are still young enough to come good. The search started late, and MacLean admitted we ended up with more loans than he wanted, but I hope the general approach is continued.

I like the idea of seeing DJ play with a strike partner.
I also reserve the right to delete this comment 20 minutes in if we look a shambles going forward.
Suspect DJ wide and it will be similar shape to Wednesday. Better balance to it though and puts Smith back centrally where he's at his best.

Glad our line up feels relatively settled now.
Mitov in goal.
McGowan, Gordon, Robinson all the back 5. Either Considine or Gallacher goes in where Robinson doesnt on the left. RWB could be anything though. Brown, Costelloe or Jaiyesimi all options IMO.
Midfield/Attack will have Smith, Phillips and Carey. Then you pick 2 from Sprangler, Kucheriavyi (depending on whether his injury during the week is classed as concussion), Jaiyesimi, Costelloe, Kane, and May. Depends if we go with the 5-2-2-1 type shape, or 5-2-3, or 5-3-2. Have options now.
I want to see
Mitov
Jaiyesimi - McGowan - Gordon - Robinson - Gallacher
Carey - Phillips - Smith
Kane - May
But chances of that are slim/none.
RWB and up front still feel like "least worst" options currently. I'd probably rather see Costelloe or Jaiyesimi over Brown and then sacrifice May for Sprangler out of your line up and be more comfortable with a more attacking RWB option.
Speaks volumes that we've not scored away all season and even the banter page isn't calling for the likes of Jephcott etc. We've still a big squad but feels like we're actually running with 16-18 given how much deadwood is being carried. Reckon we'll be fine as long as we don't have an injury crisis mainly due to the quality we have in our first 11 particularly in the middle of the park.

Expected a few more changes tbh. Be interesting to see how tonight goes. Thought we tried play a bit on Sunday but it's a different sort of challenge tonight. Gallacher being back is a bonus. They put a lot into Sunday but need Carey and Max to carry a bit more threat in the last third tonight

Assume DJ or/and Costelloe will play upfront though

Really impressive shoehorning of an old firm reference there even by Daily Record standards.

3 of our bookings were a fucking joke. Ref needs to have a good look at himself.
The May one in particular was baffling. Not even convinced it was a foul.
Terrible game but as others of said only really looked like saints were going to go on and win it second half. Need better options at wing back to make the current shape work in an offensive sense though. Smith looks like a class act and having good three central midfielders to choose from helps massively. Few players away still but at least looking competent. Looked much better defensively but that might be down to county as much as anything

Awful awful stuff

Obviously the contact length is a bit of a surprise. However, even after years of the banter page, we are perth etc I'm taken aback at just how negative some of the social media sentiment is. Folk talking about cancelling season tickets.
Steady us. Stay up. Literally all I'm looking for this season. Squads good enough for it.

Certainly his best performance as a left wing-back. Have never thought that he looks particularly natural when going forward, and is therefore maybe more suited to being on the left of a central three, but that performance changed my mind somewhat.
I can't decide if his offensive issues are down to a lack of quality or lack of confidence. Hopefully the improvement suggests the latter. He was excellent defensively against a player that's causes issues.

Aye, although i doubt they expected the steward to sit on the buckets of sand and watch it slowly burn out rather than smother it quickly.
Terrific stuff from them tbf. Committed to the bit.

I thought he was doing fine til the red card, then he completely lost the run of it. Crazy challenge by Costello and he can have no complaints at all. But after that some of the decisions were crazy. I’ve never seen a keeper booked for timewasting when they’ve actually only been in possession of the ball for about two seconds. The Considine injury was a nonsense too-clear foul not given then he’s made to stay off the park for ages when he’s clearly ready to come back on while Killie launch a dangerous attack. Why?
Great to start a game so well and our response to conceding what was from our side of it a poor goal was encouraging. Still lots to work on but it’s a step in the right direction.
He should have booked Mitov before that but waits to book him at the goal kick where, as you said, he had the ball for seconds.
The Considine incident was nonsense. He'd totally lost it at that point.

Not sure about binning Liam but you dont know what the circumstances were. Who pulled the trigger, Geoff?
Maybe an indication they are serious about a change. Whoever comes in can hopefully put their own team in and give a long overdue new feel to the place.
Will be the first non-continual appointment (maybe could argue Davidson wasn't technically) since Lomas?

First shot on target for either side, as yet again out "spell on top" results in multiple hopeless shots from miles out and endless crosses to nobody.
Oh yeah, a total a lack of quality. Costelloe miscontrolling one chance and then totally snatching at another.
Defended well and looked under no real pressure though. Then an absolute worldy out of nothing.

Wasn’t there a poster in here years and years ago that done a write up and nailed multiple huge price winners on Scottish cup and 1st round. If memory serves he made a fortune.
Sure Airdrie beat a non-league side 11-0 and were 6-0 up at half time and a few on here (not me) were on heavily on halftime handicaps. There was less entrants at the time too.
