Its an odd one considering Scotland and Saints, technically, play the same shape. Theres zero doubt that Scotland played Davidsons beloved 3-4-2-1 last night.
Kind of highlights how the shape doesn't matter, but making sure its played right and you've got the players to thrive in it and make it work is key.
Scotland have Dykes and Adams, both outstanding as lone strikers, a fair difference from us having May up there on his own.
Was at both games and couldn't help thinking about this comparison at the time.
Two centres halves happy to step out either side of a stopper with one the goals coming from exactly this (similar to a few Kerr set up first season under Davidson). Two attacking wingbacks, a sitting ball player and two attacking midfielders willing to do the off the ball work as well. And a striker that can lead the line - incidentally saw Kano outside the ground.
A reminder as to why that shape was working in the first season and how ridiculous clinging to it once the players that made it work left was

Hallberg and Carey just petulantly kicking folk. Total lack of discipline.
Same shape still. Another non wingback on while one sits on the bench.

Abysmal.
What are they looking for here?
Assume that's for handball? Really harsh.

Killie have a proper commentator on their tv, fair play. What’s his name again, used to cover matches for the bbc (possibly still does)?
Two other fixtures today are significant for us. If we win then hopefully Utd beat st mirren and County beat Livingston for our top six aspirations. If we lose, then it’s definitely the other way round or the bottom sides will be uncomfortably close.
John Barnes?

Had a suspicion after Davidsons comments earlier this week that Bair might start. Doesn't say a lot for Rudden tbh.
Brown at left back. Carey in number 10.

Horrendous goalkeeping there kills it. Needed to take some of those chances between the two goals.

Arguably I'd say we've been better than the win over united or the first half vs St.Mirren.
Shakey defensively to start with and you could feel a goal like that coming. Much the better side since with only a brilliant save and some bad finishing keeping it level. May involved in all our good moments.

Yeah its a back 5 again with Brown at LCB.
Looks like McLennan through the middle in a 5-3-2.

Looks like 4-3-3 for us today? Clark out completely.
Hopefully that rather than the 5-2-3 I suspect it is.
I'm assuming Considine is injured?

Your product, the packaging and the branding is utter shit
So we got a deal?
An absolute classic retort. Guy just stood there speechless.
Delighted Avi's gone and loved the toe curling cringe factor Tim gave when he called out his patronising tone in the board room.
Also, some episodes no amount of editing is saving; we all knew exactly how much they'd sold!

The horrendous state of that tattie field resulted in the red card. Rather watch a game on Astro than on that mess
This 100%. Not a massive astro fan but absolutely scunnered watching games on this pitch.
Dreadful game. Saints so unbelievablely predicable in there style and patterns. At least we can play the second half "more like an away game".

Same boat! He’s been a bit of a passenger but that’s superb by him.
So important as it looked like it was going to be a nervy backs to the wall half.
Lets put them away here..
Think Hallberg is been a big reason why Motherwell have struggled to play out. If you play this formation, you need a midfield like this.
Phillips has been fantastic again. 5 year deal.

Philips excellent again today. Hope we get him tied down for longer.

Ignoring an obvious second yellow there.....

Odd Sinclair not on the bench for today?

Unbelievable

Another nonsense handball decision. Once it takes the deflection, what can he do?

Everyone buzzing for this one I see.
Fair play to any saints fans going along to this. Have to think it’ll be a comfortable home win and then us reverting back to a back 5 thereafter.
Even by our standards in Glasgow, expect a low turnout today. Unless you have a record you're trying to keep, I can't see anything appetising about going to this especially at the price point and time of year.
Surely we stick to 4-4-2 for this given it contained Rangers pretty well last time?
Matthews
Brown Mitchell Considine Montgomery
Wright Philips Hallberg Wotherspoon
May Clark
Imagine it will be Gordon over Mitchell and MacPherson over one of the midfielders.
Horrible feeling a drubbing will see either the 4-4-2 binned or see someone like Philips hung out to dry. Think we'll see Bair get some game time today too.

This is the worrying bit, considering the amount of fans who brought it up the moment the prices were announced.
I just assumed theyd found a loophole or something tbh, but fucking hell. The whole Rangers fiasco and now this is just incompetence from someone at their job.
I guess theyll get away with this one without much criticism as everyone will be scunnered from the Rangers stuff and cant be bothered getting all worked up again.
And partly because season ticket holders already have this game included as well I imagine.
Not a word from the club about the changes though. No explanation. Communications is a total shambles at the moment. Incredibly unprofessional.

Relief that Phillips has made it. Brown on the left side of a three again though.
