Everyone buzzing for this one I see.

Fair play to any saints fans going along to this. Have to think it’ll be a comfortable home win and then us reverting back to a back 5 thereafter.

Even by our standards in Glasgow, expect a low turnout today. Unless you have a record you're trying to keep, I can't see anything appetising about going to this especially at the price point and time of year.

Surely we stick to 4-4-2 for this given it contained Rangers pretty well last time?

    Matthews

    Brown Mitchell Considine Montgomery

    Wright Philips Hallberg Wotherspoon

    May Clark

Imagine it will be Gordon over Mitchell and MacPherson over one of the midfielders.

Horrible feeling a drubbing will see either the 4-4-2 binned or see someone like Philips hung out to dry. Think we'll see Bair get some game time today too.

This is the worrying bit, considering the amount of fans who brought it up the moment the prices were announced.

I just assumed theyd found a loophole or something tbh, but fucking hell. The whole Rangers fiasco and now this is just incompetence from someone at their job.

I guess theyll get away with this one without much criticism as everyone will be scunnered from the Rangers stuff and cant be bothered getting all worked up again.

And partly because season ticket holders already have this game included as well I imagine.

Not a word from the club about the changes though. No explanation. Communications is a total shambles at the moment. Incredibly unprofessional.

I might be wrong but thought we d too many season tickets to make us give up the East Stand for a league game , that’s why they focussed on the number of season tickets who don’t turn up .

Yeah, my thoughts too. 2.8-3k season tickets holders isn't there? Once you account to hospitality too you'd not have much (any?) room for PAYG tickets.

For me, that's been the most frustrating part of this. It was a very different decision back pre-COVID when we had much less season ticket holders. I'm sure that retaining the east stand for old firm games was even mentioned as a positive after the increase by the club? The post-double cup growth and the frankly astonishing fact that crowds have if anything risen since (up 23% year on year I saw on twitter) should be something to be celebrated and encouraged. Instead they've doused it the first opportunity they've got. The chance here to really push a cup game under the lights, maybe push the fact they've put faith that fans will come, has been totally missed. It's such incredibly short term thinking.

And I can't even begin to address the (non)reaction from the club since the decision and subsequent fallout. Far too angry.

  4. Definitely the wrong firing in terms in who actually lost that task. Good business plan unveiled already?

That said how the boys got away with that mess of a presentation is a miracle. Enjoyed the immature chuckling at "supporting Bradley's meat" though.

  5. Trying to put a positive spin on it at least we have a LWB and two actual midfielders as the sitting two (though I'd probably have Phillips over McPherson) so at least the shape shouldn't be the mess it was the last couple of games.

Cannot see the logic in the return to the 5-2-3 from an attacking  POV though. May's been much better alongside a partner and struggled on his own and as others of stated Murphy and Carey haven't shown an awful lot recently to pick themselves over the plethora of options in those positions either. Need both, and particularly Murphy, to provide a lot more effort when we don't have the ball either.

Montgomery had a hamstring issue last week and is away back to Celtic, so unless something has been sorted but not announced he’s not available today. Which is a shambles given it seems Booth isnt fit yet and Gallagher is out of the picture for some bizarre reason. So it’ll be Brown LWB again. Which means no width on the left. Which means it’s easy to defend against us all over. Which means we’re unlikely to score.

Well that's depressed me. Seems we get no updates regards players at the moment. No idea this was the case with Montgomery, what's happening with Gallacher or how long Hallberg is out for.

Real blow being stuck for another spell of a system that requires wingbacks playing with only one. Agree with others about wanting McGowan back in to midfield but if MacPherson comes in alongside Phillips behind either Wotherspoon/Carey that's still more preferable to Crawford or Murphy playing.  Need to get back to having May and Clark closer together and three midfielders that contribute when we don't have the ball.

Disappointed to lose a match where if we’d had our shooting boots on we’d have easily got something.

Davidson had a howler with his team selection. A powder puff midfield three that every Saints fan could see before kick off gave us a mountain to climb. We were getting a pummelling, was as if we were playing either of the OF for the first 20 minutes or so.  Hallberg getting injured ended up being the best thing that could happen for us.

McGowan is an average centre back, not as good as Mitchell, but is probably our most effective and reliable centre midfielder since McCann left. Fucking play him in there Callum!!

When he did go to CM it freed up Crawford and Carey to get on the ball more and up until our penalty we were excellent. May, who had a great game, had 3 chances through on goal that he wasted.

Dreadful penalty. Just hit the target ffs.

Strange that both times we did score we then seemed to sit off and lost all momentum we’d built up.

Hearts were very good going forward, and scored a couple of decent goals, but for that third somebody has to step out to close the ball down surely.

Thought Drey and May were our standouts, and MacPherson and Murphy looked decent when they came on.

Dropped points for sure but have to say after some of the turgid pish we saw at home last season, nobody could complain about lack of entertainment or attacking play.

Not much I disagree with here. Powderpuff midfield to start with and when McGowan goes in to midfield he's already on a booking (I don't think the third goal happens if he's not).

Our recovery this season has been based on being more solid in midfield and having two wing backs that carry a threat. Phillips done a decent job the last couple of games of replacing of McGowan in that regards the first point and the decision to go without that to shoe horn Crawford back is was infuriating as it was expected.

You cannot be giving goals like that second one tonight away and expect to win games. The initial press that hearts easily played out of was something that happened far too often.

Upside is we are actually carrying a threat and really should have scored more. Wright and May both did really well and were enjoyable to watch.

  8. Even before the second goal Impressed with Phillips. Still work to be done with him but looks like a player who could really make that sitting role his own.

Overall,  thought saints deserved that. Sending off changes things - and Laidlow totally sells his centre half - and allowed likes of Carey and Crawford to get more comfortable possession. I've never been his biggest fan but I doubt you'd want anyone else arriving on to that rebound.

Didn't half make it hard on ourselves with the defending in the first half. Wasn't impressed with County at all though.

Looks like the club also shares the concerns about the pitch that @Radford I think also mentioned as they've now backtracked on playing the woman's game on it on Sunday.

It's been moved back to Jeanfield.

It wasn't a great look cancelling that so early and leaving the u18s until this morning tbh.

Be happy if they didn't play any other matches there until they got in a position they made the pitch remotely acceptable week on week.
