  1. It seems to be about 50/50 whether the train drivers on the Subway wear one or not. Still around 90% on there and in shops in my experience.
  2. Don't post this again, you'll wake up jamama
  3. @scottsdad Alan Cumming has made me put it off. Too much.
  4. When I watched the hideously over-rated TV show Community I very rarely laughed, but I did enjoy the panic of one character receiving a phonecall from another while remarking "she was born in the 80s, she still uses her phone as a phone!"
  5. I'm not sure if the multiple companions thing was to try and ease Whittaker in or to try and #represent as many people as possible but it's not working. It diminishes the relationships between the Doctor and the companion and you're learning about four characters at the one time rather than one. It's all a bit pointless. The same problems with the way the show's filmed aren't helping me and the guest stars aren't great either. I look at Bradley Walsh and I don't think it's a character, I don't think it's Graham or whatever his name is, I look at him and think "that's Bradley Walsh." He talks and I think "that's Bradley Walsh talking." The worse thing is he's actually decent as an actor in it, but I look at him and just think about him laughing at a woman called Fanny.
  6. Kerblam! Amazon is bad! Capitalism is bad! Bad!
  7. No one in the small town of Pieville knew much about bovril, except that it was a popular food and drink. But when the beast began prowling the streets, no one knew what to do. They knew it wasn't human, and they had never seen anything like it.
  8. Clearly fans of @oneteaminglasgow's Football Manager exploits will have a more comprehensive understanding of European geography.
  9. #Worldle #16 2/6 https://worldle.teuteuf.fr What on earth did you all think it was?
  10. Week 6 update Another week, another triple update. First up, actor Leonard Fenton: Leonard Fenton: EastEnders actor who played Dr Legg dies aged 95 - BBC News The BBC piece also notes he was a bit of a shite doctor. Fenton died at 95 so he's worth 30 Base Points to @pawpar, who also gets 15 for a Vice-Captain bonus and 50 for a Solo Shot for a total of 95 points. ========== Second death this week was actress Monica Vitti: Monica Vitti obituary | Film | The Guardian As Detournement said earlier - if you're into modernist Italian cinema, you've lost an icon. Vitti died at 90 so she's worth 35 Base Points for @JustOneCornetto and a Solo Shot for a total of 85. ========== Going in a somewhat different direction, our last death this week is the terrorist Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi: Islamic State leader killed during raid by US special forces in Syria | Syria | The Guardian You'd hate to think how many civilian casualties there'd be without the US military's signature preparation and precision. Oh. Lovely bloke! Kept himself to himself! In addition to that: ‘We are still shocked’: the Syrians who discovered Islamic State’s leader was their neighbour | Islamic State | The Guardian Whenever I looked this guy up when someone picked him I was always taken by how cheerful he looked in his Wikipedia photo: The account says he died at 45, so he's worth 80 Base Points, plus 30 for an Unnatural Causes bonus and as I'm in the process of typing this up I've just checked nobody actually picked him this year. I guess the lesson here is don't sleep on the leaders of the world's foremost terrorist organisations, they're always likely to blow themselves up. After all of that, the standings look like this: 1. Ned Nederlander 313 2. Arbroathlegend36-0 255 3. JustOneCornetto 228 4. Bishop Briggs 199 5. Indale Winton 183 6. Blootoon87 151 7. chomp my root, sparky88, The_Craig 144 10. Arch Stanton 135 11. cdhafc1874 130 12. gkneil, Savage Henry 104 14. pawpar, Sweaty Morph 95 16. Desp, senorsoupe 50 18. Bert Raccoon, speckled tangerine, statts1976uk, ThomCat 39 22. Hamish's Passenger, Moomintroll, The DA 31 25. Everyone else 0 The spreadsheet has also been updated with these scores: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mup1IJllKHs0a47J8G6IXUkvShJrV28Iuc-Kkn7RKuo/edit?usp=sharing
  11. Wordle 232 6/6* I'm really fucking sick of this game tbh
  12. If I had a watch that told me when my phone was ringing I'd probably just cut out the middle man and shoot myself tbh
  13. Are you sure this wasn't a dream? It sounds like a dream.
  14. Cowards. I use this as an alarm with my phone as far away from my sleeping position as possible:
  15. But there are lots of people who sing in a Scottish accent who can sing and who aren't liked exclusively by tanked up neds.
  16. Wordle 231 5/6* getting fucking sick of this game tbqh
  17. Telling P&B about it seems to be the problem. There's no plausible deniability when the platforms are connected.
  18. Ordinary punters have been deranged over the past two years, is it really a surprise that the people in charge telling them to be like that would have started believing it too?
  19. Head IOC guy thanking China for putting on the Olympics during a pandemic and keeping everyone safe. I think he's missing some details.
  20. Guy doing the commentary on the Olympics opening ceremony just said "twenty oh six" referring to the year 2006. Not having this.
  21. The eels look like the ceiling's crumbling away and part broke off and fell in a bowl.
  22. Bad news for you m8 Hockey fight statistics If NHL players were at the Olympics you'd get fewer fighting and roughing penalties than normal anyway. Star players aren't going to risk injuring themselves at an international tournament. I can only agree with previous complaints and hope that the BBC actually shows this properly this year. I don't think they managed to show the men's final in full in 2018. An absolute joke.
