  1. I refuse to believe James Melville is a real person.
  2. I watched some of that speed climbing this morning - surely them having a harness on is cheating?
  3. I fucking love it when people do this. You'll really show them all by, er, forcing yourself to spend more time shopping somewhere else.
  4. I can't believe you've forgotten which match that picture came from. My avatar is a selfie.
  5. I saw Vistas as a support in 2019 and I couldn't understand why the crowd seemed approving of what was going on. I refuse to believe the Snuts are a real thing.
  6. East Timor don't have much to show in any sport, not surprising given they've only been a country for twenty years and suffered decades of occupation and genocide just before that. Their best footballer could be any of their current squad, I'll pick the captain: Nataniel de Jesus Reis - Wikipedia There's little better outside of football. Augusto Ramos Soares - Wikipedia is the top result when you google "best East Timor sportsmen" and I think this could well be a tie as well. Is running in an Olympic marathon better than captaining your country? Ecuador have fewer top level options than I was expecting. Antonio Valencia - Wikipedia seem to have played at the highest level for longest, so he gets my vote. Outside of football isn't a lot better. Jefferson Pérez - Wikipedia has a gold and silver in the Olympics for racewalking. Andrés Gómez - Wikipedia won the French Open singles title and the French & US Open doubles titles in tennis which is probably better, and I'm inclined to put him just ahead of Valencia for the overall win, but I'm open to suggestions. Egypt are more interesting than you might think. Their top appearance makers and goal scorers are the brothers Ahmed Hassan (footballer, born 1975) - Wikipedia and Ahmed Hassan (footballer, born 1975) - Wikipedia, but their careers seem to have mostly been in African and Turkish football. The other obvious option is Mohamed Salah - Wikipedia, but am I over-estimating old guys because they're old? Outside of football squash seems to be their biggest success, with Amr Shabana - Wikipedia and Ramy Ashour - Wikipedia being some of the best players ever. Any squash fans here? I feel like both of these guys are better at squash than Salah is at football, but Salah's football career is spectacular, so I don't know how to judge them. El Salvador conveniently have a best player called Magico: Mágico González - Wikipedia They don't seem to have much outside of football. Anyone got any ideas?
  7. Hasek was a better goalie than Jagr was a forward. Anyone can job about playing favourable minutes on shite teams, that part of his career wasn't comparable to the early years. I think the two Danish options might genuinely be a tie.
  8. Also if Bottas didn't go bowling at turn one Norris would have won this race.
  9. Absolute nonsense to watch that race and compare Ocon holding off Vettel to Alonso holding off Hamilton Mercedes would be lapping Alpine in normal circumstances at this track, and Hamilton was on new mediums. Vettel was probably in a faster car and would have got away if he'd got past, but the circumstances are nothing alike at all
  10. The Italian guy has pictures of himself on his socks.
  11. Week 31 update Nothing this week. Since one of Slipknot's drummers died this week, enjoy this trip down memory lane:
  12. I've no idea how I missed Embiid for Cameroon. He's in, though I don't think he'll be second to Eto'o for long. Andruw Jones does seem like the best baseballer from Curacao and as much as Zatopek probably is the best Czech sportsman ever I can't pick him based on the eligibility we (well, I) have used for previous countries. I also think Hasek is better than Nedved anyway, so he wins it for me. Since Marshmallo knows boxing I'll take his word for Cuba, and I'm voting Baghdatis for Cyprus, but not as good as Kaiafas. Denmark have this handy entry on their wikipedia page: I've also discovered that their leading scorer is Poul Nielsen - Wikipedia with 52 goals in 38 matches. I didn't mix that up. Even with all that in mind it seems hard to look past Michael Laudrup - Wikipedia They've got some good non-footballing options. Eskild Ebbesen - Wikipedia has three gold and two bronze medals from Olympic rowing. Wilson Kipketer - Wikipedia is the second best 800m runner ever. Tom Kristensen - Wikipedia holds the record for most 24 Hours of Le Mans wins with 9 and several notable racing series wins. Viggo Jensen - Wikipedia was the first Danish Olympic champion and competed in four different sports. Bjarne Riis - Wikipedia won the Tour de France in 1996. Mikkel Hansen - Wikipedia is one of the best handball players in the world with Olympic, world and European championship wins, and numerous league titles with PSG. Any thoughts on this? There are lots of good options on both sides and I'm not sure if any of these guys beats Laudrup. Djibouti don't seem up to much. All of their most recent squad play in their domestic league. Their most capped player doesn't have a wikipedia page. The figures for caps and goals all seem to be wrong too, the numbers are different on the player/team pages and transfermarkt is wrong too. Hussein Ahmed Salah - Wikipedia won bronze in the Olympics and two world championship silvers in the marathon, he gets an easy win here. Dominica have very little to offer. Their current captain and most capped player is a school teacher: Glenson Prince - Wikipedia. Briel Thomas - Wikipedia is young and has a lot of caps but I'll give this one to Prince for the time being. Outside of football, Jérôme Romain - Wikipedia won bronze in the triple jump in the 1995 world championship. Dominica is apparently part of the West Indies cricket team, but I'm not seeing many notable cricketers from there. Either way, Romain beats what footballers they have to offer. The Dominican Republic don't have much either. Tano Bonnín - Wikipedia has spent his career in Spanish lower league football and that's about the highest level anyone's managed. Football is second fiddle to a lot of sports here. They've produced an assortment of baseball players I've heard of. We seem to have some baseball fans here so I'll let anyone who knows pick a name here. Félix Sánchez (hurdler) - Wikipedia has two Olympic titles in the 400m hurdles. They also have a lot of good boxers with Joan Guzmán - Wikipedia being the top result when I googled "best dominican republic boxers" so I'll vote him unless there are any objections. Whichever boxer and baseball player get decided on here I think all three names are easily better than their footballer, so if someone wants to make a case for someone here then have at it.
  13. That's a bit shite, don't like it. USA have the ugliest tops I think I've ever seen them wear.
