  1. For me, having to humour the assorted celebrities and hangers-on F1 has always attracted (and god knows what it's like now that Americans like it) would always be the hardest part of being a driver. Meeting a clown as big as Elon would probably send me over the edge.
  2. "Can you do five more laps on these tyres?" Hamilton: I don't know man I'm struggling *locks up* Russell: Yep.
  3. "Anthony Joshua here. God bless you." I'd just park it and walk away.
  4. There's a new Just Eat song by some women I don't recognise. Hideous.
  5. Week 42 update One death this week, footballer Bobby Charlton: Sir Bobby Charlton obituary | Bobby Charlton | The Guardian I'm not going to post a quote for him because it's virtually impossible to summarise him in a few sentences. There are several articles on the Guardian's site about him, and I really recommend reading them. He retired twenty years before I was born so I can't really quantify the career he had outside of the statistics and honours, so adding context to that has been a welcome experience. In the time I've run the Dead Pool I'm not sure how many footballers there have been of Charlton's stature, in terms of what he meant to one club for so long. I've said before that as football fans we're all proud of players like Charlton in our clubs' history and hope for it in the present. Someone whose entire life is inseparable from the club and the community around it. That we're talking about someone able to do that for a club the size of Manchester United is a mark of how great he was. That so much of his success came after the 1958 Munich disaster is an even greater testament to his skill and character. With that in mind I actually lied - I'm going to post Man United's announcement which sums up what I've said quite well: Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton passes away aged 86 | Manchester United (manutd.com) Considering the current state of elite level football, I don't think people like Bobby Charlton can or will exist anymore. As we lose people like him from his generation this becomes more pronounced, and given the general state of Man United in the past ~ten years it's a message that becomes more stark as time goes on. While reading about him I did have a chuckle seeing the details of his final England appearance - World Cup quarter final against West Germany in 1970. They're up 2-1. Ramsey substitutes him to keep him fresh for the semi-final and they end up losing. At least some things in football remain constant. Outside of his caps and goal record, he had an unremarkable international career. Loads of you picked him. He died at 86 so he's worth 39 Base Points. A Vice-Captain bonus takes that to 59 points. Here's who gets what: Vice-Captain: @DeeTillEhDeh, @HTG, @ICTJohnboy and @Karpaty Lviv Base: @Arabdownunder, @ayrunitedfw, @BillyAnchor, @cdhafc1874, @choirbairn, @dee_62, @DG.Roma, @djchapsticks, @Duszek, @Enigma, @Frosty, @Fuctifano, @German Jag, @HI HAT, @HK Hibee, @Lex, @Ludo*1, @Mark Connolly, @microdave, @mozam76, @nessies long lost ghost, @pawpar, @Priti priti priti Patel, @qos_75, @San Starko, @senorsoupe, @sleazy, @Ziggy Sobotka, @Sweaty Morph, @The Hologram and @weirdcal. 6. Superbad (2007) I was 15 when this released. A film about 17 year olds trying to get drunk and get laid is made for 15 year olds. This is the first I've seen it, and it was even more annoying than I thought it could have been. It was longer too, and I'm not sure it warranted its length. Is it possible for a film like this to be entertaining or relatable when something like The Inbetweeners exists? I don't think so. I started off really hating it when the younger, fatter Seth Rogen was just talking about porn but by the end I was just bored. Halloween (1978) How does horror exist as a genre when its most famous and influential films are things like this - bad man has knife. Bad man stabby stabby. Bad man stabby stabby because man bad. Good soundtrack. Some good camerawork too, but ultimately I just sit bored by the fact that nobody acts like an actual human would. Halloween (2018) The thought of the intervening nine Halloween films is more terrifying than opening a wardrobe and finding a heavy breather in a Captain Kirk mask inside. I liked this better than the first one. Marginally. It would have done better for me if it hadn't fallen into the same traps as the original (and from what I gather, its sequels) and made Michael Myers indestructible while making everyone else unable to just empty a submachine gun into his head when they get the chance. I did enjoy the podcasters getting brutally slaughtered though.
  7. I received a red dot from @8MileBU as recently as March (I think) on a post regarding Skidmarksgate, so I don't think he's over it. Gave me a nice chuckle while I reminisced though.
  8. This sounds like terrible news rather than excellent to me.
  9. We're not telling you what the branding on the van was though.
  10. American schools where the teachers are terrible and can't plan their lessons properly and the bell goes while they're in the middle of teaching something.

    The Sopranos

I'd forgotten he got one of these for Christmas. What self-restraint.
  12. What difference do Gary Neville's non-negotiables make to anything? I can say it's non-negotiable that I get made Pope, it's as likely to happen and what I say is about as relevant.
  13. @S7C can confirm Either way I don't see him getting a lot of transfer funds early, so he'd better get a tune out of what you already have.
  14. I've been in touch with my French and Belgian sources and the response is mixed. Boring and stubborn tactically, alienates players, good for about a year or two before it starts falling apart. I wouldn't be too hopeful.
  15. Week 41 update Have you all just got really bad at the game this year? I feel as if I'm a lot less busy than usual.
  16. Exciting times as Scottish football gets its very own baldy fraud.
  17. My Boys, The Xcerts at Saint Luke's tonight. A very weird crowd.
