I got bored watching the English cup final and started making curry.
Fell asleep trying to watch that one

Anyone else watching the Scottish cup final and imagining Reading v Jota, McGinty v Kyogo, Dempsey v McGregor, Dipo v Starfelt, etc? Pretty sure Ayr would've won easily.

How about playing matches overseas? It would be a tremendous boost for the club's profile.
Magaluf?

I don't imagine the club trusts the appeals system after what happened to Daire O'Connor.

Hard to get worked up over where they'll play league cup games when the manager treats them like friendlies anyway.

If somerset is out of action for a couple of week could thay not hire out that new riverside stadium at ayr academy, put up some temp stands.
Should play the friendlies at Rozelle where they used to do preseason in the nineties. Or is that flats now?

Ashford and Harper on the wings.
Wonder if we'll play wingers on the wings one day.

Why is Kris Boyd holding a notepad when he can't read or write?

County have been more proactive since the red card than I would've expected. Bold strategy.

Also heard we’re hoping to get Kirk back for next season as well
That would be good but it's not the weakest position so it's not a huge change to the overall level

Are we expecting signings any time soon? Would have thought it would be a couple of weeks before we hear much
I think Dipo signed (or was announced) on 3rd June last year, so we're in the ballpark now.

Doing it for Dunfermline makes sense if they're expecting a capacity crowd. Supply and demand and all that. Would they expect to sell Starks out for a match vs Dundee United normally? Especially as despite their having obviously decided to strengthen for next season, they had an absolutely anonymous one this time and Dundee United will absolutely be expected to be challenging for the title.
Couldn't really see Ayr doing it but that's primarily because the teams most likely to draw a capacity crowd at Somerset are also teams whose fans typically expect to spend far more at the gate than Ayr fans, thus meaning raising the ticket cost would just mean a higher ratio of away fans.Marketing-wise I wonder if it might be wiser to set the standard price at the higher rate and offer discounted entry to the games they want to charge less for. Who knows?

Was reading about the new fan bank initiative on Twitter there and came across this gem. Could our budget be more than anticipated?

6 players isn't going to be enough I'm afraid. I think we're all in agreement that we currently have 6 starters in Albinson, Musonda, McGinty , Murdoch, Dempsey and Dipo (who is likely to leave). So presuming he does leave that means we need 6 players to come in and be staters. Relying on every one of those 6 being successes is a bit naive so we're probably looking at needing around 10 players imo.
You can't add ten players to what's already there. It's too many. Need to use coaching to get improved performances from the existing squad and add wisely in a few positions.

Very good news in here that they've identified an issue with the playing surface and have a plan to fix it

Prior to Friday night there was a possibility that we were still going to have another 2 games this season and could potentially have been in the league above, as such it would seem incredulous that we would already have signed players or indeed released players when we didn't even know what league we were going to be in the following season.
It's equally unbelievable that they wouldn't have a plan A and a plan B ready to go into effect immediately upon the league situation crystallising. I imagine they're some way down the road with whichever players they're looking at.

We wanted a big rebuild, we needed a big rebuild, and that looks like what we are going to get!
Would be nice if it was done strategically though and not as a reaction to the initial plan for continuity breaking down!

You can argue all you want that we want more from a wide player, as Mullin is very much a numbers man.
We can’t pretend that eight goals, and four assists in 22 league appearances isn’t incredibly good though and very hard to replace!
I was being slightly facetious, to be fair. He was definitely an important player when the team was playing well. Up to the club to replace him now.

Scored or assisted against Dundee, QP, Morton, Partick, Raith x 2, Hamilton, Arbroath and Inverness outside Cove… so yeah the entire league.
Once each? (Outside Raith, obv.)

Mullin is great if your fixture list involves playing Cove Rangers every week.

The scenes at Everton after the game there reminded me of this thread. Some fans on the field jubilant and others in the stand furious.

My mate works at a hotel in Ibiza, was saying he was speaking to Andy Ryan (ex-Accies, now at Larne I think) who's staying there and mentioned he'd been contacted by us. He's planning a move back to Scotland anyway to be closer to his family, but Gus MacPherson who's his father-in-law isn't keen on him joining Ayr because of his Killie history. Worth keeping an eye on potentially.
That would be such a pathetic reason for a career decision.

Seems unrealistic if any fans expectation for next season is now 2nd and a play-off final as with the current squad they'll be left disappointed.
Think it's inevitable next season will be a step backwards but said it before I don't think it's the biggest issue as an overhaul is needed to make the next step so a 4th/5th/6th place next season with Ecrepont, Smith etc. getting more opportunities to try and develop isn't the worse thing.
Mathie spoke previously about bringing in players, developing them and selling them on but outside of Akinyemi and Dempsey our next most valuable players are probably two 16 y/o with no first team starts so if that's the model then we need to move towards it. Most of the current squad next destination is more likely to be a club such as Morton or Chester rather than a step up.
But what about the huge warchest from selling Dipo and finishing second? Surely they can use that to raise the level?

The teams finishing first and third are looking for new managers, I don't think Ayr would stand out as a basket case if they decided to make a change. That said, nothing coming from the club has given any indication they're anything but pleased with Bullen's work, so it would be a surprise.
