Stirling seem to be targeting the wide areas with early balls. Ayr seem to have no discernible strategy at all. Frustrating when Smith is showing for a simple pass from the keeper and Albinson shells it long to the Stirling defenders instead.

I'm going to regret this, but Reading has not been the worst here so far
He's certainly been available in attack

Paul Smith looks well ahead of the rest of our team, if we're looking for positives

McKenzie and Amartey have swapped positions, not sure it will help

Hahaha what a terrible goal to lose

Individual error count from our defenders already creeping up

I dearly hope every single pronoun in that sentence was intended to refer to Lee Bullen and not the single c**t that kept Lee Bullen in a job this year.
I don't imagine Ecrepont could be feeling worse tonight either.
I'm surprised at reports of explicit criticism of players. Less political than I'd expect.

The whole stand is being built ,it's just a few rooms that aren't being fitted out just now. The cost of the build has doubled in a year to over £2 million so you can't blame Smith for doing it bit by bit. Some cretins on here will still find that funny as they got told off by Smith.
You'd think they'd have thought about this possibility before making their big announcement and hoovering up the good press.

Smith said they are mothballing parts of the new stand due to increase in costs, they will only build the hospitality section for now
This is actually good news because [insert credulous gibberish].

At our level ?? I don’t think these guys are full time just looking at players for one club
That's interesting. My recollection is that the club had to prise their current guy away from Hamilton? Would've thought that came with a certain price tag. Happy to be corrected.

Any signing is a risk.
This new recruitment model has seen us sell a player for a six figure sum for the first time in at least 20 years. That's something!
I remain sceptical of the long term success of recruiting soley from down south but its hard to argue with the above KPI.
You will always sign duds or players just won't click at a given club. Someone said 7 good signings and 3 bad signings in every 10. That would be great, we're about 50/50 just now (give or take).
It's true that not every player will work out, but if you're paying a significant wage to a recruitment expert you'd expect to see a better hit rate than if you weren't. Otherwise why have the role at all?

If we win tomorrow we'll be further ahead of this time last season, having just (rightly) moved a few bodies on after a later finish than the previous season, and making a (relative) ton of money from Dipo. Relax lads, ffs.
Not sure that's the bar we should be aiming to clear

You know what really grinds my gears?
The Ayr United manager using phrases such as "plucky", "little" or "wee" to describe the club. McCall was bad for it and so is Bullen. Get it in the sea.
It's a polite way of calling supporters who want more than they're getting unrealistic.

I’ll just get the tweet in now for a years time. “Olly Pendlebury has terminated his contract by mutual termination, we thank him for his efforts. We will also not be extending the contract of Francis Amartey, we also wish him all the best.”
Get this recruitment process in the fucking bin.
Can we see them play a couple of games first?

If you look at it from a certain perspective the five figure investment in the pitch could be seen as equivalent to signing a new player.

Applies to most teams in this league doesn't it?
How many of them are actually having the best player taken out of them the day before the season starts though?

For tomorrow nights Q&A, i'd imagine Mathie will either make a seperate speech on the Dipo situation before they start or after the first question they'll say that they'll not take anymore questions on it.
Cause let's be honest otherwise it would just turn into the Dipo Q&A
It would be fun to try and predict some of the questions. I'm going with:
"How does it feel to know you're creating a lasting legacy not just for the club but for the town?"
"Are there any plans to commemorate last season's historic second place finish?"
"I'd like to nominate the chairman and manager for the club Hall of Fame, what's the process for that?"

Yeah agreed, if we’re in a position to pay for a commercial manager then we need to be paying for someone to come in and organise our media.
The commercial manager role brings in revenue that can be directly attributed and measured. Marketing and digital marketing in particular is seen as fuzzy and if you only look at direct attribution then arguably costs money rather than making it. That's obviously the wrong way to look at it, but not all old dogs can learn new tricks.

The fact they swapped Amartey and McKenzie so early suggests whatever the plan was, it wasn't working. They've worked a few two on ones down the left especially, but the midfielders aren't gambling on crosses coming in. Set pieces look like our best shot to score.
