  1. Except once again it wasn't? There were 3 different permutations that we're still on the table until 4.30pm on Saturday. I don't disagree that they could of forward planned all the outcomes, but to say it was nailed on is simply not true.
  2. Except for the fact that 3 teams could have changed at any point on Saturday, so it's not a case of simply saying it's the same as weeks ago is it?
  3. I totally get why MacLean didn’t put on any other striker, they’re simply not good enough. However, Rudden should have come on purely because he at least attacks balls in the box, May won’t do that and he’s usually the one putting it in. The moment we went a man up, Rudden should have been the next move, going 2 vs 2 in the middle wouldn’t have affect the game too much I don’t think. Not helped by 2/3 of our midfield yesterday having a shocker, I will give the pitch a fair amount of the blame for that.
  4. Don’t know who’s reporting that it was anything but a 4, Wright was the furthest man forward half the time.
  5. Think Callum Davidson’s statement shows that it was a mutual decision and he knew it was time to go. It’s a nice touch and whilst we as fans may not have agreed with his managerial abilities I don’t think he was badly thought of. For me it’s a nice touch of class and I think he’ll always be remembered fondly by saints fans for what he’s done for the club and I think he’d be welcomed back any time, just not in the dug out!
  6. Was that the same Robbie Deas who was 100% signing for Livi about a month ago? It’s rumour time and I doubt anyone from that division is signing for a team who might get relegated! I include us in that right now.
  7. I think I'd be seeing if Tam Courts was interested to be honest. OK he may come across as a bit dull, but his record at United was good and lets face it their squad was pretty shit. He's young enough to be adaptable and seems to want to give youngsters a path to the first team.
  8. Is it not the fact that any appeal that is deemed frivolous or whatever the term is, is automatically doubled. Since he was due a 2 match ban already, it’s been doubled to 4.
  9. My favourite part was about the social media updates during games being every 15 minutes and the response was saints are usually doing nothing good on the pitch to talk about so no point in updating. Shouldn't have found that as funny as I did, but it's a very, very fair answer!
  10. If we're serious about bringing youth guys through and based on what we're doing at under 15/16 level we really should be, then you'd ideally have Sinclair and Max playing 20/30 games next season and either giving Ferguson a chance or getting him out on loan to a higher level. Also picking up on the out of contract players, realistically the only one you'd actually want to keep is Wotherspoon, but I think that's sentimentality and a presence around the club more than anything. I'd also keep Brown, but he's away back down south. If there was an option to bring Mitchell in permanently I'd take it, possibly the same for Montgomery, but other than them, the loan players can all go back to their respective clubs. All of a sudden, that massive squad we have and need to reduce has suddenly shrunk substantially whilst still carrying a bit of deadwood. Whilst our budget might not be as large next season, there is plenty of scope for any new manager to bring in their own players and start to overturn the squad window by window. As by this time the year after, the likes of Considine, Carey, Crawford, etc. will all be close to retiring or not getting new contracts at which point you'd hopefully have integrated the young guys fully and have them established, with the next set of 17/18 year olds coming through and repeat.
  11. For what it's worth, I don't think MacLean wants to be a manager based on people I've spoken to that know him, at least not yet. Then again it's one of those, that until you actually try it you'll never know if you want the job properly. Just need to look at Stevie Hammill at Motherwell, clearly a great guy to have around and be at the club. but lacks that managerial instinct and likely wont ever manage again.
  12. You’ve just got to look at Spurs for an example of why this likely won’t work. Sure the person in charge had gone, but his assistant is still playing the same formation with the same results.
  13. So the question lads, just how good is Alex Ferguson? I see he's been racking up the assists for you guys as well as scoring a few goals too. The reason I ask is because we're woefully short on a central midfielder who's able to actually look up and pick a pass. That being said we'd need our strikers to score the chances, but creating them is the first step. Depending on what happens with our new manager, he may well get a decent chance next season, or at least the League Cup group stage games.
  14. Not social media, but Ryan McGownan was pretty honest in The Courier interview he did, where he acknowledged that the players also hadn’t been good enough. Nothing majorly personal though.
  15. It's not getting overturned. There's been more than one instance of players winning the ball and then following through high this season and they always end up in a red card.
  16. Some of the online comments and tales are absolutely wild, to the point where reasoned saints fans try and explain it, but get shot down. Ranging from he’s our best ever manager and deserves loyalty to he didn’t get enough time and this is a snap decision. I know people other than saints don’t care about us, but we’ve been rank rotten for almost 2 calendar years now, he’s tried (no much) to change and sort it, but totally failed. Then again the other take is that the players are at fault, now whilst this is also true, can anybody blame them for downing tools or not being able to play with the tactics.
  17. Let’s not forget that Tommy Wright continued to play Gary McDonald……
  18. To be fair Phillips didn’t look for, or that he was enjoying the pitch since he was struggling. Not that I’d bring Carey on though.
  19. Alex Mitchell hasn’t come out for the half time warm up……four at the back lasting 45 minutes…?
  20. Count me in the "if we lose and he goes camp", that's genuinely what it's come down to now, which tells you everything about how little support he has from the stands and dare I say the players. Apathy, just pure and undiluted apathy right now.
