  1. Undoubtedly. Now shitting myself for match v Gretna at end of month
  2. We forced several corners in the short time the game lasted. Each time, Nicky Locke had the ball a wee bit further forward along the line. Had the game lasted, he would have been taking them from the edge of the penalty box.
  3. Poor Jamie Clark, doing his best to sweep the lines. Why weren't the home lot?
  4. Maybe not the most convincing performance but you'd be hard pressed to see three better goals in the one game. Those who are of a pessimistic mood should keep in mind the players that were out, for one reason or another. Carstairs, Comrie, Galbraith, Grant, Jacobs, McCormack & Miller
  5. Two it is and if it hadn't been for Kirkcaldy & Dalbeattie call-offs it would now be served.
  6. McCormack's favoured position is right-back. He was only forced inside due to necessity.
  7. Peggie is a fast skilful lad, who really puts a shift in and never hides. His one flaw I have seen is a little over-elaboration. Trying to beat men twice is a risky business at any level. Carstairs has fitted like a glove, a perfect long-term replacement for Hunter. Flynn, i admit, didn't impress me to begin with but he has now added a few goals to his hold-up play and is all the better for it.
  8. A really encouraging thing for me, was when I overheard two young laddies (with no distinguishing colours) in the first half. One turned to his mate and said in an almost surprised tone "this is really good, eh?". I hope they were local and become regulars.
  9. It's funny how people hear a rumour, then invent their own spin on it. The gamble Max took in appointing John Millar as his number 2 was always going to be risky, as he would run away to join Herd if a new gig came up. The players he brought with him were always deemed as 'back-up' from day 1. They would all have to play their way into a team that had been decimated by two old heads retiring (Campbell & Snowden) and two more leaving (Donnelly & Ritchie). For various reasons, only Skinner was up to the job and has shone. Your remark about not fitting in, is just so much . It is no secret the 'wee rose' want him and it must seem the easy thing to do to join up with your other pals now at lithgae but giving in to that would be the ruin of him and his development. It is true every player has a price but every player has a choice too. Greg is so much better than them.
  10. Tom was at game yesterday and is slowly recovering, needs some training before ready.
  11. At this stage of the season, permanent signings of good players is unlikely, or economically impossible. We have Nicol for the rest of the season and I am sure we will enjoy watching him. As for Peggie, just happy to have a player like him for however long he's here.
  12. Well the highlights certainly clear up a couple of points for me. The first goal WAS offside, no argument surely? The second, I am not convinced Andy handled outside the box and at that angle, how could the linesman be so sure? The third goal I had thought was handball at the time but it looks to have been a bounce of his chest. At the Bo'ness goal, I had thought a red card for the goalie should have been the outcome but from the highlights it does seem just an unfortunate collision.
  13. From that elevated view at Broadwood, it was clear to see that every time the ball went to Galbraith, there were three men on top of him, or just one kicking him. People say he's injury-prone, they would be too if they took as many knocks in a game as him.
  14. Small piece of trivia. Darren Gribben yesterday became the first ever BU player to appear in four different spells at the club. Twice signed fully, once on loan from Berwick and yesterday as a trialist.
  15. Darren is a pal of Max, so I would hope he wasn't taking 'the crown's shilling'.
  16. Just a wee word to praise our matchwinner on Tuesday, Kieran Anderson. I admit to having been critical of him in the past but his performances since the end of August have been excellent. With age has come a certain maturity that was not previously evident. Where before his big fault was being caught off-side, he now enjoys playing with his back to goal and is exceptional in his hold-up play. Of course he loves nothing more than letting loose at goal and lately his strikes have been top-notch. Keep it up Kieran, you've stepped up at exactly the right time.
  17. No but it was filmed in its entirety, including THAT foul.
  18. I do agree we need new blood there. It was always going to be a gamble with Darren McCormack and Jamie is at his best as a full back. Skinner is a class act despite what our resident Camelon fan thinks.
  19. Just to clarify, only players signed in time for first game are eligible for the replay.
  20. Not going to argue your points but the next Gretna game is not Lowland League action.
  21. You really don't want to get a train to Wick. Not sure if still the case but you had to make sure you were on the right end of the train as one half disengaged at Wick and the other half went on to Thurso without stopping.
  22. In the first half Comrie was outstanding, always available and showed nifty footwork when under pressure. The sending off was a deserved one and its timing couldn't have been better. With 11 men I am sure they would have piled in at the start of the 2nd half but instead had to modify their tactics. Although Murphy had little to do, a lot of that can be attributed to Skinner in the middle of the defence, whose interceptions and tackling were top notch. Anderson really set the cat amongst the pigeons with strong, direct running and our goal was overdue. A thoroughly deserved win and you always know when Gemmell is doing well when the opposition fans boo his every touch.
