  1. Part-timer It's well noting that at this stage last year we had completed four trips to Tayside, which makes today's longest journey of the season pale into insignificance. On the result, I'll have whatever you are on. Our lads would struggle to score that in a month. However they are conceding an average of 6.5 a game, so any less than 6 would be considered poor on our part.
  2. There might be a more recent game but you can never rely on the Journal where it comes to Bo'ness matters. They've historically given the inside-leg measurements of every player the wee rose sign but sadly negligent on BU games and signings.
  3. Your memory serves you well John. It was back on 11th January 1969, at Newtown. It finished a 2-2 draw, with the BU scorers being a trialist and Ian Wodecki.
  4. Oh dear. Another one of the Bonnyrigg brigade on a fishing exercise. On here at 1am because even his wrist turned him down. You are the only one that considered we would be a challenge this year, no noises of the sort from our side.
  5. Whenever we ventured forward in the first half, Marty always seemed to have to come wide right. In the second he was able to stay central and got a brace. The lad McMullen had a good second half when switched to the left and Syme now has a bit of competition out there, no bad thing. The young lad, with a first name of Tiwi, looked a decent prospect when he came on. Still a pupil at St Mungo's I'm led to believe. One position that does need sorting is in goals. Marshall is always stuck on his line, which contributed to their late second goal. For me, Murphy should be number 1.
  6. Dean Crabbe signed for Penicuik during the week. Oh well, one less to worry about!
  7. One opponent to look out for tomorrow is striker Dean Crabbe, the son of former Hearts player Scott. They are a young team and will have lots of energy but let us hope the guys have been practising in front of goal this week!
  8. A work-mate who plays for a side in a different conference asked me today how we didn't score at least seven at the weekend. He'd watched the highlights and commented on the number of balls going across the face of goal and not being converted. Reassuring that I was not just watching the game from a BU bias. Tomorrow we play a side just scudded 9-1 at home and now managerless. We all know results like that don't happen two weeks in a row and their boys will be fighting doubly hard. Our forwards need to be doing what they are paid for and hit a handful at any rate.
  9. There really is an added pressure on our defenders in every game. They start knowing only a clean sheet will guarantee a win. Then likely as not, they are our best source of goals too. The guys up the pitch need to be converting more chances, simple as.
  10. A really good all-round performance from the lads today. If only they knew how to score. Prentice had probably his best game in a Bo'ness shirt and could/should have had a hat-trick. Donnelly was a trojan in the middle of the park and Snowdon had the measure of Campbell today. Wee Dev had a great game though and thoroughly deserved MOTM.
  11. You're having a laugh! You should have been there two weeks ago if you want to moan about a ref. In what way was he not strong, apart from waiting 85 minutes to book Smith?
  12. Don't be fooled by the weather here, wrap up warm for the hills in Fife!
  13. Another visit to Cardenden awaits tomorrow and this should be a cracker. May still be some scores to settle on the field and lets hope Bo'ness do that by beating them fairly and squarely. The defence will be beefed up a bit tomorrow, with Will & Josh available. Hopefully the other missing players from Saturday have put a shift in at training, to earn a place in the side.
  14. Firstly, nothing but praise for the eleven who turned out today, Hunter & Andy Shirra not really fit to play, Dev only 15 mins and 1 training session since returning from injury. Andy having to phone his brother Jamie, just back from working in the Shetlands and hasn't kicked a ball in months. Players out of position. All of that looked a recipe for disaster, instead we got a fighting performance that did all of them justice. The final score did not do them justice My ire is reserved for those who plan stag do's and call off late for flimsy reasons and basically forget they are meant to be committed to a club. You may say 'why should they, it's only EOS level, not Premier League' but that is disrespecting the likes of Michael Gemmell who came off a night shift to play and often does.....because he's committed.
  15. The Snowdon one is particularly annoying. How could he be sent off for conceding a penalty, when their 'keeper got away without even a warning? Such inconsistencies are the bane of the game.
  16. That's rich considering they had a 'penny for the guy' on yours.
  17. The bairns have given up turning up at his front door looking for sweets. They know he's already eaten them all.
  18. A head has rolled, correctly on this occasion. Carrying out an internal witch-hunt isn't going to change anything. Good luck to the new secretary, he is going to need it.
  19. Spot on. That's been getting overlooked recently due to a lack of end-product but the guys have taken on board the need to shoot more and the goals will come.....hopefully next week in the big Rose net.
  20. If there were any doubts before the game on how the players would react, they dispelled them in spades. To go down three times away and come back each time, especially with the added handicaps suffered throughout the game, shows once again that this team does not know when it is beaten. Had this been an 11 v 11 match Bo'ness would have won, I am certain. Marty Wright was obviously MOTM for a superb hat-trick but every player put in a great shift. What defence we are going to field next week is anyone's guess, with Campbell, MacDonald & Snowdon all suspended and Hunter injured. No point bringing in anyone new as they will probably have a suspension hanging over them.
  21. Players are bound to be feeling down at this moment but this is where they need to stand up and be counted. Hugely important League game from which 3 points would help to heal the wounds. ps remember not to pick Comrie or MacDonald today.
  22. Unless the opponent was underground, it certainly wasn't in his direction. Josh had just won a corner, so wasn't taken the piss out of. I'm glad the highlights are up. They show some of the poor decisions made by the ref. To end on a positive note, what a glorious winner! Great penalty box poaching by Sweeney, just what we need.
