  1. I've copied what I said re McIver on the Alloa thread: "That's an interesting signing for Falkirk. I was just saying to a Falkirk supporting friend of mine this morning that I would rather have Ross McIver up front as my main man than either LD or Big Sammo (not that I don't appreciate what they bring, I do). It appears John McGlynn shares my view. I hope Ross does really well at TFS (I always hope young players moving on from Alloa succeed), he's a cleverer player than he is given credit for IMO, and works very hard. I think talk of McGlynn paring him with another striker up front may well prove wide of the mark (although I'm sure that will happen occasionally). I think he's more likely to be a sole front man with three winger/attacking midfielder types playing off him in the 4-2-3-1 formation. Clearly his weakness is finishing. He's just not a natural finisher and consequently his goals return ratio is poor. This could certainly count against him with the Falkirk fan base. FWIW I think that there are technical weaknesses with his finishing that could be improved; e.g. his body angle and ball position when he's having a shot in the box. If those weaknesses are worked on and practised then I can see his scoring rate improving."
  2. FFS the heads gone on here if that happened and he played for a few months would set new levels!
  3. Was he? I didn't pick that up - what was the reason?
  4. Just the way he looked, I think. Maybe @Oweny can clarify.

It appears John McGlynn shares my view, just like Brian Rice did re Daniel Church. 6. I'm sure you would! You missed yourself not seeing Jim "Mex" Wallace playing. What a left foot!
  7. We get it m8, you don't rate him. Surprised you've not got Billy Wilkinson and Jim Wallace in there.
  8. Best of luck to him. No surprise he's been given another opportunity at full-time. Hope he does well at QotS.
  9. Indeed. We now just need to sign a good aeriel disruptor and we're sorted.
  10. Cheers. Sounds like he has different qualities to the midfielders we had last season. Hopefully he will complement the likes of Scougall and Cawley.
  11. What position does he play? What are his strengths/weaknesses?
  12. That can't include Durnan as I believe he has been on his already. ✈
  13. Pleased Coulson has signed too. He's got talent (strong, good touch and decent pace) and works hard. Needs to improve his end product to continue his development. Got a good shot on him, so would hope he could get amongst the goals next season. Young though so time for that.
  14. I believe Taggs is very happy at the club (as most seem to be, heard the same about Scougs). The players are treated well and several are good friends; helps massively, of course, when you have the likes of Andy, Taggs, Kev, Robbo etc there for several years. Don't think any of these guys will move on unless they are forced to.
  15. Cheers, I'll keep an eye on that page. In previous years it hasn't been updated so promptly.
  16. Maybe. I think that depends on who we can get signed. It's a balancing act/judgement call from the manager - clearly better to get a player signed up asap, but if we can't get the required quality that way, then wait and see what's available via the loan market. Re Rodden, he's going to be a squad player, but if his goals return rate is anything like last season (before his injury) then it's good to have him in the squad IMO.
  17. I'm assuming all this news of signings is on Twitter as there's nothing on the official website? If all true then that's a decent start to the squad.
  18. Cycled over to Culross on Wed and they have done a lot of resurfacing work (still actually working on it) on the road from Longannet. I'd expect the Carron Valley road etc to be sorted too.
  19. So would I. McIver is the one I'd be most disappointed to see go. Still think we played our best football when he was leading the line with the likes of Coulson and LD linking up with him. I think we need a similar type to Rodden, to complement these three, but an upgrade, if we can get that, not easy and may, again, be best through the loans route. On loans, I thought Brian Rice did really well last year as it can be hit or miss. Miller and Hogarth both did really well, featuring in so many games and becoming key members of the side. Devine, when he was fit, also looked a really good player. Offord was the one disappointment, but not because of his lack of quality. It's always an interesting time of the year and I'm looking forward to it.
  20. Good little piece on George Stanger at half-time in the Airdrie v Hamilton game on BBC Alba.
  21. The appropriate test for judging how good any goal is!
  22. Indeed. Seems crazy if he's asymptomatic or even just a runny nose.
  23. I just don't think he's a good enough footballer, certainly not to play centre midfield and certainly not for Falkirk, given the level of player you are looking for. He was a bit of cult hero at Alloa in his short stay, he's a likeable character and puts in some crunching tackles, including the one which got him sent off in fifteen seconds against Cove! I think he could be better at centre back or maybe even full back.
  24. Not sure, although I expect he was only signed to the end of the season. Pretty sure we'll try to extend it, he's done well, raw but has ability.
