  1. Bloody hell you guys are keen! Saturday evening and piling in on next week's game.
  2. It is a bit. I think we lost something when Doyley went off too, I thought we were poorer defensively losing the determination and physicality he brings. Fair play to Rice for changing it though, four subs and a formation change, generally positive subs too. I thought they made a difference to us going forwards, but not enough unfortunately.
  3. I actually thought we played well, although Airdrie deserved to win. Indeed thought it was a good entertaining game between two in form teams. Airdrie had more options in attack, where their quick movement stretched us at times and lead to a few chances. Overall though I thought our defence played well, with Durnan in particular imposing himself physically on Gallagher and having a good game. Clearly Taggs on the left is frustrating at times, but with Church not in the squad and Doyle playing well on the right the manager had restricted options in that respect, especially if he wants to change formation to a back three, which is how we lined up after the four subs. Also thought Airdrie were solid defensively and that was a major reason we were restricted to few chances.
  4. Well played Arbroath. Thoroughly deserved victory. Always good to see part-time sides showing they can play.
  5. Really looking forward to the game. Will be interesting to see if Rice changes the starting line up tomorrow after three wins fielding the same eleven. Personally I'd bring in Scougs for Coulson, not that the latter deserves to be dropped (in fact nobody does) but Scougs will give us additional quality in midfield and I think we'll need that. From an Alloa perspective going five points clear of fourth with just five games left would clearly be a strong position and one from which we'd be favourites to get in the playoffs from, after Falkirk. Every bit as important for Airdrie, of course, to get the win clearly. We'll need to deal with Gallagher better than we did in the 4-0 defeat. Having Durnan back should help there.
  6. Interesting. He's looking strong. Evenepoel getting the better of Roglic at the third attempt in Catalunya and looking the stronger of the two. Should be a good Giro watching them go head to head over three weeks.
  7. Yeah, I thought they were excellent, both defensively and combining in attack. Doyley has given us better defensive cover on the right and yesterday was his best game since he returned in an attacking sense. We're just always a better team when wee Kev is on the pitch IMO. * I didn't think we had any failures tbh. LD and Coulson were maybe a bit less effective than they can be, but both had their moments and did just fine. Our attack is more fluid with them and McIver together IMO, although it was good to see Sammo come on and play so well, scoring a good goal. Robbo and Murray Miller formed an effective, classy partnership. It was good to see them playing a bit further forward - not sure if that was because we were at home to Clyde or whether it was a tactical change. Certainly the formation and lineup for the last two games has looked good and has done the business. Cracking goal from young Miller, he was clearly delighted to get his first goal (and who wouldn't be with a strike like that) and the rest of the players seemed just as pleased for him. He's a good young player who has come on this year and I hope he can get a full-time chance next season. * As long as he isn't stuck at right back.
  8. Got potential, but still plenty to learn IMO; wouldn't say he's ready to start for Dundee. He's quick and decent on the ball. Not the greatest in the air despite his size, not bad though.
  9. Going to be volunteering at the UCI World Championships in July/Aug. Based at George Square. Selection process was ridiculously drawn out, but looking forward to it now. Anyone else doing it?
  10. I get that and last year I was hoping he'd lose every time he played, but I'm beginning to like him. Helps that he's proving to be such a fantastic player. Still hope Min Woo Lee wins TPC though.
  11. Couldn't make the game today, so thanks for the reports. Pleasing to hear we dominated the game and several players had good games - in particular that Robbo and Miller dominated midfield. Also good that Kev and LD got so many minutes; hopefully the latter is OK. They are vital to the team's creativity.
  12. I think that's harsh. Worth listening to Keiran's side of the argument in the podcast if you haven't already done so. He makes some good points in Sammo's favour.
  13. Good debate on Sammon, I can see both sides although I'm probably tending more towards Kevchenko's opinion.
  14. Going to be great seeing what he can go on to achieve.
  15. Agreed. Second goal isn't in the same category as the first from a defensive point of view. It is, as you say, a cracking cross in open play and O'Hara meets it perfectly. A really good goal.
  16. That's maybe where the manager's frustration is coming from with the centre halves. We aren't that great at attacking crosses, apart from Durnan and Andy G. Of course if you are going to pick full backs in your back three then that could be an issue. I think there's an argument for swapping Doyley and Taggs over. The former attacks the ball much better and Taggs is much more creative at right wing back. Of course we would lose Taggs general play at CH and he's been excellent there all season. I actually thought the ref was top notch yesterday, much better than last week. It may have been a foul on Coulson (don't think it was), but I can't see that being a red even if it was.
  17. I don't think he hung them out to dry, just explaining where the game was won and lost and he's certainly right re the first goal. That should have been headed clear - if not by the centre backs then by big Conor.
  18. When I saw Cawley and LD coming on I assumed Sammon and Coulson were going off. Very disappointed Kev got put at RWB, both because it is, as you say, a waste of his talents, but also because Doyle was solid defensively. I agree Sammon was poor. Has been generally for a while now. Really thought he wouldn't start today after the team played so well without him in last week's second half. Thought LD would start too. We played well first half after a very shaky start and the goal was a really sore one to lose, coming just before the break. Pretty soft too. Second half we huffed and puffed a bit, but didn't cause Dunfermline any problems. Of course it had to be O'Hara who got the second goal. Dunfermline are a good side. Tuesday's match should be very interesting, which is why I've got myself a ticket! ETA Rice explains why LD didn't start, so need to give him that one.
  19. Quinn has been used mainly behind two strikers through the middle. He's doing very well; quick, strong and direct, has ability on the ball. Has grabbed his opportunity so far. We don't have any similar players and he's stood out for that reason also.
