  1. Indeed, I don't think it's 100% clear either way. IMO, based on the Alloa highlights, Strachan just gets enough on the ball to make it a good tackle. He does then catch Rowe and, like you, I'm not 100% sure what the law is there. Re tackling from behind, I think the only thing the laws specifically say about that is to emphasise that a tackle from behind which endangers an opponents safety should be a red. I don't think that applies here as it was more from the side and the force wasn't great enough. Could be wrong as it's a while since I've really studied them.
  2. Fair enough m8, if that's your opinion.
  3. Yeah, I've see the highlights, both your and ours. My issue is simply with your use of the word "incredible", which is plainly nonsensical.
  4. You've seen the highlights and you still think "incredible" as opposed to "he got the ball although there was some follow through"?
  5. It isn't a new development and I accept Stevie H wasn't good for Falkirk last season, but then pretty much the whole team were "sh*te" according to most Falkirk posters, including Brad Mackay, Nesbit and Morrison. And yet these three are all doing well this season. I think it's a fair assumption that Hetherington being poor for you was at least as much down to the general sh*teness at TFS last year rather than him being a poor player.
  6. Not like him to be fair, normally pretty reasonable, but certainly "travesty" was wide of the mark. I felt a draw would have been a fair result, but if your opponents take two of their chances and you only take one then you're going to lose the game. No complaints from me or any other Alloa fan about the result as far as I can see. @Waspie has done a good paragraph of how this Falkirk team looks to an opposing fan on the Alloa thread.
  7. We had a Quinn Coulson on the bench. I'm assuming he's on loan from Raith Rovers?
  8. Yeah, I enjoyed the game. Would have been much more disappointed if it had been a league game as I felt we deserved the draw. Agreed. Donnelly was very effective and although Scougs wasn't having his best game him going off always weakens the side. Falkirk have pace on both wings and tested us at times, with Kennedy in particular a handful, but we coped pretty well with it. I thought we might get at Mackie and Mackay in central defence, but they held firm and dealt with our ariel threat well. Didn't think we had any failures. Taggs a class act again and I thought Stanger looked more comfortable on the right of the back three with big Andy beside him. Only thing I'd like to have seen was Kev pushed into the hole behind the strikers when Donnelly went off, with either Taggs or King at RWB, but overall can't have too many complaints about the effort and performance.
  9. Neither do I, but then I don't fully know the hand ball law these days.
  10. I believe the pen would have been given. That's the way refs work. How many "controversial" or "unfathomable" handball penalty decisions have we see this season? In Scotland, England and the world cup? It's not an Old Firm or Scottish problem, it's one IFAB need to sort.
  11. The ref isn't the problem, he's just applying the laws. It's those that need sorting.
  12. Handball rule needs sorted ASAP. Wasting too many games.
  13. Andy looks to be really enjoying himself out there. Wouldn't bet against him.
  14. He's an astonishing tennis player, competitor and person.
  15. Indeed. Pretty much a given Taggs will play well.
  16. One thing to add, thought Hogarth was very good yesterday, excellent handling in the conditions. Similar to last week when he dealt efficiently with everything.
  17. Are you referring to Euan Henderson? He's not a centre forward.
  18. There's no doubt Scoug's going off changed the game, although I felt Edinburgh had got their act together a bit even before that after we threatened to blow them away in the first thirty minutes. It's the first time I have seen them this season and I thought they looked a good side. Felt that Brian Rice's first two subs were poor; Miller would have been a better bet than Cammy in the circumstances (2-0 up) and it's never a smart move to take wee Kev off when you have a lead IMO, partly because he's such a good player but mainly because no one works harder than him. Wasn't sure Luke D was the right man to come on either, especially stuck up front with McIver pulled into midfield, which isn't his position; although he did OK a genuine midfielder (e.g. Miller or moving King inside) for either Ross or Sammon would have helped us keep the ball better and made it more difficult for Edinburgh to dominate possession. Overall though Rice and the players deserve credit for delivering two wins in row. I thought the way we set up today with Kev more central, supporting both Robbo and Stefan and also the attack worked very well.
