5k a week at that level is absolutely mindboggling. Really can't see that.

Sorry meant £500. That came from one of their players speaking to a United player after the League Cup Final.

  2. DD got his wish, another centre-half. Brings the squad up to 19 and probably also one of the youngest squads seen at United. at just under 25 - which includes two 37 year olds. Suppose a striker or attacking midfielder is too much to ask for.
It says a wee bit about our strikers when one of our top scorers is our right back Stevenson, the other one being Malcolm - a striker - with 4 a piece.

Again we were slow out the blocks but grew in confidence as the game went and they got the result their work rate deserved.
A chance this Saturday to further improve our position in the league at home to Hearts U/20’s.

............and other BU fans Boheesian think the priority should be a striker.

We are a fickle bunch us BU fans.

Whit!!!! United fans fickle, how dare you. Anyway a tough one tomorrow against Broomhill just hope we have an “open goal” to aim at.
The return of McArthur will give ‘Hunts’ a bit of a dilemma with Irving having performed well last week so a wee test of his managerial skills.

Blair Snedden SOUNDS like he should be a BU player but IMO we don't need a left back. Keir Macaulay is IMO the best left back in the League.    It is finding a centrehalf that should be the BU's priority.

Keir is without doubt one of the best left backs in the league. Irving showed a bit of quality as a centre half on Saturday. My priority would be an attacking Midfielder.

John Ward to Broxburn , was watching their highlights from Saturday and thought it was him .

Now an even smaller squad , how they have intentions to bring players in .

Keir is now the only left back as Rutherford is a bit unreliable due to injury .

Just on loan till the end of the year, according to Facebook. Brings the squad down to 17 so we need to add a couple. Maybe a couple in Berwickshire fire sale.

Rutherford although a good player is a bit injury prone as pointed out in a earlier post by a Tranent fan.

    3 rd goal was belter

McAulay does cross a good ball and Dalziel must have cursed himself for missing what looked a nailed on goal from a similar cross from the same player.
Hopefully a home draw and another decent crowd.

Well said Arnie, it was a great result, which most of us hoped for but weren’t over confident about. As you said a lot of outstanding performances but I’d make a special mention for Musa, he was fantastic, Gemmell who must have covered every inch of the park and Irvine, who wasn’t well known to the BU support before the game but looked as if he had been playing every game.

Sitting with a glass of red wine and feeling good !!!

Ditto but had a beer first.

I was just thinking you had to be there last week to appreciate today’s performance.WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT!

Well we did start with our first choice keeper - who kept us in the game, I know that’s his job. Rutherford back at left back- rather injury prone, but McAulay is a more than capable replacement.

Darvel moved the ball about well hitting the post and as previously said Musa at his best kept us in the game. We grew into the game in the second - half and Stenhouse took his goal well then a great cross from McAulay was duly converted by Stevenson..

I sponsor a player every season and last season it was Jamie Hamilton(injured) and this one it’s Rutherford (injury prone)

next season I’ll sponsor the corner flags

Cannot believe how quiet it is on here ahead of a Scottish Cup game tomorrow .............is it fear or apathy ?!!!

Underwhelmed with last weeks performance perhaps. The players must know themselves they were a poor advert for a football team. Let’s get behind them and get a result.

  10. Winning matches start with a solid defence and ours looked any thing but. The centre half situation has been done to death but from what I’ve heard the management are trying to find one. Going to cost money but who’s going to sell one for peanuts.
We won the previous week so why change the team unless you have to(which we did). Should have been kept to a minimum.
Hugely disappointed in the performances of Ryan Porteous, scored two in the first match but has been a bit of a luxury player since, maybe there are reasons. I would be interested to hear them.
Being second best is not good enough.

BU's v Cumbernauld United tomorrow in the second round of the South of Scotland Challenge Cup.    Both sides will fancy their chances.

    Mon the BU's !!!

Heard McArthur on holiday this week and next but hopefully Hawkins back to fill the gap with McAulay along side.

Ended 0-3 and no complaints about the result from me. Better team won.

Gemmell early yellow card. ...Michael's immediate apology and body language indicated to me that the card was merited.

The BU attack......we just never seemed to get any breaks of the ball today.  That is how it goes sometimes.

Stevenson penalty.....nobody else wanted to take the responsibility so for me the Ryan haters can GTF.

McArthur mistakes .....he is not as good as he thinks he is.  Safety First Lewis ....just clear the ball.

Today was a reality check. On our day we can get a result but today was not one of those days.

We were too pedestrian all over the pitch maybe a hangover from Wednesday when we worked hard to get nothing - that’s fitba’.

Would have been preferable to have had Kennedy & Mooney on from the start maybe would have kept their back four busy.

On the penalty taker surely the onus is on the Captain to sort it out when Ryan apparently looked none too keen. Tom Grant would have been my choice.
A learning curve for Hunts and co

I wonder if their promotion push will be toast now he's out the door?

The man’s made a choice to step down and take time out. Just a bit strange it’s so early into the season but they seem to have a hard working committee behind the scenes.

  14. Professional job. Move on to Wednesday where we have a more difficult match. Albion Rovers have only played two league games but have been in good form in cups.
So get to Newtown on Wednesday at 7.45 and support United.

Really looking forward to a good day out tomorrow at Hawick. Expect to see a few changes and some players get some decent game time, and hopefully a comfortable victory with plenty of goals.

Would imagine Porteous,Johnston & Hawkins being kept back for the Albion Rovers match unless they are 100% fit. The squad is decent enough to cope if need be. Perhaps another Centre Half.
